EVERYWHERE INTERFERENCES - VA ( earliest and rarest '60s US garage psych compilations )-Label:FEED THE MIND Everywhere Interferences is the 1983 follow-up to Everywhere Chainsaw Sound and is rumored to have originated in France. Originally issued as a limited numbered edition of 190 copies, it is one of the earliest and rarest '60s US garage psych compilations produced at the dawn of the compilation LP explosion. This reissue features improved artwork along with the correct running order as well as additional liner notes and photos, filling an important gap in garage psych comp collections across the planet. "In a field full of weeds the earliest garage psych/punk compilations still possess a charm that endears them to collectors. Back in the early 1980s a number of now extremely rare compilations were briefly available via mail order. They almost immediately disappeared onto the shelves of a small but hardcore group of US '60s rock fans. Everywhere Interferences was the second volume of an extremely limited pair of compilations (the first being Everywhere Chainsaw Sound). Both originated in France and were produced microscopic numbered editions of only 100 or so copies. Housed in a plain white card sleeve with primitive artwork these compilations, to this day, remain almost unknown to the majority of '60s US garage psych collectors. Inspired by Elektra's Nuggets LP, 'grey area' compilations such as Pebbles, Boulders, and Acid Dreams (PAPR 1007LP/2094CD/2096CD/2097CD) created a demand for underground compilations that grew into the US garage rock reissue market that has since produced many thousands of records. An unceasing demand for music from probably the most exciting period of rock and roll has turned into a minor industry. Thankfully Everywhere Interferences is once again available with improved sleeve notes and sound. You may have some of these recordings on other compilations but somehow the mystery excitement and sense of discovery that fuelled the first era of the garage rock revival is captured on these iconic records" --Richard Allen, writes for Shindig!, founder of The Freak Emporium in 1991 (now under new management). Includes tracks by Clefs of Lavender Hill, White Lightning, Pied Pipers, The Baskerville Hounds, The Todds, Moonrakers, The Satisfactions, The Cavemen, and The Nomads. COMP CD $18 SKU:17113

WHITE SUMMER - ST (76 PSYCH HARD ROCK )-Label:OUT-SIDER (Spain) White Summer's self-titled LP, a private pressing from 1976, reissued with original artwork for the first time. Progressive hard rock with psychedelic touches, melodic vocals, top-level musicianship, and stunning lead guitar. Originally from Benton Harbor, Michigan, White Summer was formed in 1973 by a trio of 18-year-olds who shared a mutual love for Hendrix, Cream, and Grand Funk, among others. They were Jim Watkins (drums and vocals), Rick Lowe (guitar and vocals), and David Wheeler (bass). White Summer played many shows at high school dances, outdoor festivals, and nightclubs, becoming one of the top rock acts not only in Michigan but also in Florida, where they relocated at the end of the '70s. White Summer's first album, known as the "White Album" due to its simple design, was recorded at Uncle Dirty's Sound Machine Studio in Kalamazoo, Michigan, by Bryce Roberson, who had formerly been an engineer at Chess Records. Self-financed by the band, 1000 copies were pressed and sold in the Michigan area. Sought-after by collectors worldwide, this is the first-ever reissue to feature original artwork. 24-bit domain professional remaster from a mint original vinyl copy (master tapes were lost). Includes insert with liner notes by original member James Watkins and a previously unseen photo. "This is the best band I have ever seen in a bar!" --Eric Clapton. "This is the longest I ever sat and listened to a band."Neil Young CD $18 SKU:17114

13th Floor ELEVATORS -Rockius Of Levitatum PIC. DISC-Label:LILITH (Russian Federation) 2014 release. This collection of live tracks gives those of us who weren't there during those halcyon days of psychedelia, a taste of just what lofty heights (and hellish depths) the Elevators were capable of reaching. The performances are taken from three sources: "Roller Coaster", "You're Gonna Miss Me" and "Tried to Hide" from a rockin' appearance on a local Dallas / Ft. Worth television show in the spring of 1966, "Don't Fall Down", "Kingdom Of Heaven", "She Lives In A Time of Her Own" and "I've Got Levitation" from a notoriously shambolic gig in Houston in 1967, and the remaining eight tracks from a series of stellar performances at San Francisco's Avalon Ballroom in autumn of 1966. LP $25 SKU:17117

BARE SOLE - Flash ( 1969 for fans of Blue Cheer, Iron Claw, Stack Waddy)-Label:SOMMOR RECORDS (Spain LP version. Previously unreleased UK demo album from 1969. The loudest band from Hull in the '60s, Bare Sole played raw, in-your-face psychedelic hard rock and heavy blues. Bare Sole's brief existence at the tail-end of the 1960s reflected the realistic trappings of their geographical situation. Musical icons such as Mick Ronson and Robert Palmer would eventually rise to fame outside of their native Hull, but Bare Sole sadly only managed a handful of out-of-town gigs and a tour of US air bases in Germany. As it was, their entire existence lasted just over a year, but at least their inspired musical legacy has survived thanks to a 1969 recording session held at Fairview Studios. Assisted by writer and producer Keith Herd and galvanized by an enthusiastic local poultry farmer, Bare Sole captured their primitive garage mannerisms in one fiery recording session. Aside from Decca's rejection of their demo tape, Bare Sole continued playing alongside acts such as Family, Status Quo, The Move, and Small Faces, but the inevitable decision to quit came in 1970 and their story came to an end. Flash represents Bare Sole's entire recorded history, taken from the master tapes of their 1969 recording session. Their seductive garage romp boasts explosive doses of fuzz, wah-wah, and Farfisa organ, a sound that recalls an earlier and more primitive sound, but a sound that also may have unwittingly sealed their fate. Master tape sound. Detailed liner notes. Recommended for fans of Blue Cheer, Iron Claw, Stack Waddy.

CAPTAIN BEEFHEART - Full Moon - Hot Sun Live in Kansas-Label:KEYHOLE (UK) 180-gram LP. Includes insert. Following the collapse of the original Magic Band in early 1974, Captain Beefheart swiftly assembled an all-new line-up to promote his controversial 1974 Unconditionally Guaranteed LP. Comprising Fuzzy Fuscaldo and Dean Smith (guitar), Del Simmons (sax, flute), Michael Smotherman (keyboards), Paul Uhrig (bass), and Ty Grimes (drums), they played in a markedly more straightforward style, in keeping with Beefheart's stated ambition to "hug the world." This fine gig, live from the Cowtown Ballroom, Kansas City, MO, was taped for broadcast on KUDL-FM radio on April 22, 1974, and is presented here in its entirety together with contemporaneous notes and rare photos.

MASON - Harbour (Smokin' heavy rock ‘71)-Label:OUT-SIDER (Spain) Smokin' heavy rock with an early progressive sound and overtones of folk and blues from Virginia, 1971. Originally released on the Eleventh Hour label, which also released Polyphony's Without Introduction (OSR 024LP, 1971). Powerful vocals, loud guitar, flute, and killer Hammond organ -- think Deep Purple, Jethro Tull, Grand Funk... Master tape sound; includes repro of the original multi-page insert plus liner notes. "This is an interesting and diverse hard-rock album. If you can picture slow, organ-rich heavy prog, jazzy sax instrumentals, and snappy riff rockers, you'll have an idea of what you're in store for there. There's an air of professionalism usually absent from this kind of self-made records. 'Tell Me' has a fuzz guitar tone to die for." --Aaron Milenski, The Acid Archives LP $25 SKU:17119

WHITE SUMMER - ST ( 76 PSYCH HARD ROCK )-Label:OUT-SIDER (Spain) LP version. First-ever vinyl reissue. BIPPP...FRENCH SYNTH WAVE 1979/85- VA ( 70s and 80s ) -Label:BORN BAD Born Bad Records presents a compilation of early '80s French synth-wave circa 1975-1985. Original French-only LP version. CD version was licensed to the Everloving label in North America in 2008. Features artists such as Vox Dei, A Trois Dans Les WC, Casino Music and many more. 2006 release. Increasingly detached from the original punk formula, the modern and arty youth of the early '80s set itself to jettison an art form that had lost much of the nihilistic and exhilarating energy of its halcyon days, stuck, as it was, in an endless and noisy regression. Disheartened but eager to experiment and create, a new wave of French musicians followed the beacon of Jacno's seminal '79 hit "Rectangle," a visionary, digital coup de grâce, courtesy of a former punk which dealt the Rickenbacker and Fender-era a fatal blow. The cold and robot-like bips of analogic keyboards took over. Casio, Korg MS-10 and Arp Omni were the new paraphernalia of the new generation -- the ideal conveyers of its retro-futurist elegance and self-professed cold arrogance. They were pinnacles and symbols which were just as potent as the electric guitar in the '50s or the laptop in the '90s. This compilation recalls the glory of a selected few, the cream of the crop of the shooting stars and cult bands that followed in the footsteps of Kas Product, Mathematiques Modernes or Charles De Goal. Featuring Ruth's infinitely charming "Polaroid/Roman/Photo," plus A Trois Dan Les WC, Act, Les Visiteurs Du Soir, Vox Dei, TGV, CKC, Marie Möör, Deux, Vitor Hublot, Visible and Casino MusicCOMP LP $19 SKU:7621

CROME SYRCUS, THE- Love Cycle ( lost West Coast psych album, originally released in 19 ) - Label:Aurora Aurora reissues this lost West Coast psych album, originally released in 1968. Finally back on CD. Features the original artwork. "The sole LP from this West Coast psych rock outfit has plenty of drug references, fuzzy guitars and bits of trippy weirdness." --Endless Trip

This Seattle quintet shared stages with legends such as The Doors and The Grateful Dead, but only got to make one album, which appeared in January 1968. A heady blend of five stand-alone tracks and the side-long epic from which it took its name, it melds influences such as rock, jazz, classical and electronica to powerful effect, and makes its long-overdue return to CD here, featuring the original artwork. JACK OF HEART- In Yer Mouth ( ( Influenced by Pink Floyd's Syd Barrett & the Velvet Underground- garage psych ) SAALE - Label:BORN BAD Influenced by Pink Floyd's Syd Barrett, the heritage of The Velvet Underground and the songwriting of Lee Hazlewood, Jack Of Heart transcends these influences into twisted and perverse psychedelic garage-punk pieces. For fans of Black Lips, Magnetix, BBQ and King Khan & His Shrines. A handful of 45s on labels such as Rob's House and Slovenly Recording as well as extensive world touring has ensured that France's Jack Of Heart is one of those groups ensconced in the true ghetto of rock'n'roll. LP $18 SKU:13938

LYRES- On Fyre ( 180 gram with 4 page insert) -Label:MUNSTER RECORDS (SPAIN) LP version on 180 gram vinyl with 4-page color insert. - Munster Records reissues the debut album by legendary Boston band Lyres, originally released in 1984.
- Formed in Boston in the late '70s out of the ashes of the legendary DMZ, Lyres are one of the truly essential bands of 1980s garage, and their fierce debut has been a benchmark for the genre since then. LP $21 SKU:14513

LYRES- Lyres, Lyres digipack -Label:MUNSTER RECORDS (SPAIN) A sticker on this LP's shockingly pink jacket proclaimed this new product to be Lyres Lyres (their second album, produced in 1986). Upon examining the rear cover, we find that the group's personnel had shifted slightly, with Paul Murphy no longer in the drum seat, his place now taken by John Bernardo, also known as John Smith. While a previous EP version of "She Pays the Rent" had a fairly moderate pace, the LP reading couldn't have been any more different, moving at a snail's pace and somewhat dramatic to boot. This version could well be Jeff "Monoman" Conolly at his most James Brown/Otis Redding soulful best, shredding his larynx as he bares his soul. Their cover of The Nightcrawlers' heart-breaking "If You Want My Love," is an emotionally-charged choker. It's fair to say that some of the greatest achievements in Lyres cover version territory present themselves on Lyres Lyres, specifically, their glorious interpretation of two Dutch beat gems from the writing duo of Ronnie Splinter and Wally Tax -- lead guitarist and lead singer, respectively, of The Outsiders. "Teach Me To Forget You" is sad beyond belief, a tale of lost love. "I Love Her Still, I Always Will" too, another B-side beauty, came from an early Outsiders single. "Back from the Grave" stars The Alarm Clocks and The Jesters Of Newport also get "Lyred" as their stone-cold killers "No Reason to Complain" and "Stormy" are brought kicking and screaming from the darkened void into the dazzling daylight of the modern world. It's a similar situation regarding "You'll Never Do It, Baby." Lyres Lyres also houses one of their most enduring creations, the juggernaut garage-pop sensation, "You Won't Be Sad Anymore." Another significant factor of the Lyres Lyres record is that it produced a kind of polarization in some quarters, between some fan factions who wanted them to stay as they had been before, raw and basic with not quite yet still an air of slavish '60s-style garage affectations, and just the minimal acquiescence towards a half-way modern sound. Others, meanwhile, welcomed the new approach. Indeed, Lyres Lyres is an album that can stand up to repeated plays year on year and always offers something new to the listener. CD $17 SKU:14636

MAGIK MARKERS- Balf Quarry LP ( SAALE ) LP version. - Label:DRAG CITY Album-length piece of the puzzle from MAGIK MARKERS. Long known for their shattering live appearances, Magik Markers put together really hot albums too -like Balf Quarry. Working with engineer SCOTT COLBURN (Sun City Girls, Animal Collective, Sir Richard Bishop), Magik Markers have captured a lot of different moods and twitches on Balf Quarry. Tremoring mid-rhythms form the body, with a couple showers of hardcore, high flying free-duo style and several clinking music boxes of woe as well. On slower tunes, the mass of brooding guitar tone generated is ELISA's signature, a carving all of her own. Fills, licks and other touches move the songs a broken arm's length away from a fundament of chaos and horror. LP $12 SKU:9974

MCELROY BROS - Can't You See Me Smilin ( 70s pop masterpiece ltd ed w poster ) SAALE -Label:SING SING The McElroy Bros.' Can't You See Me Smilin' LP is a private-press pop masterpiece recorded in 1977 in rural Vermont by identical twin brothers, Brian and Bruce McElroy. Using familiar '60s British-invasion song structures, the album is somehow instantly familiar while the recording and instrumentation are both totally unique -- perhaps, it's the unrivaled keyboard playing, or the harmonizing vocals that only twins could deliver. Whatever it is, this album is extremely sought after by pop and powerpop fans alike and has managed to elude many others for too long now. Repressed in an edition of 500 copies only, LP includes an 18" x 24" poster. LP $19 SKU:14825

WITCH- We Intend To Cause Havoc! 4CD BOX legendary Zambian 70s garage psych ) SAALE- Label:NOW-AGAIN The complete works of Zambia's legendary garage, psych, prog, funk, Afro-rock ensemble. 1972-1977. Witch's five albums and rare 7" tracks presented as a 4CD (5 3/4"X10") box set, restored and remastered from the original tapes. Contains a twenty-four page booklet with never before seen photos and ephemera; extensive liner notes and annotation; an interview with bandleader 'Jagari' Chanda. By the mid 1970s, the Southern African nation known as the Republic of Zambia had fallen on hard times: self-imposed, single party rule; a decline in prices for the country's largest natural resource, copper; conflict in other countries on Zambia's borders. This is the environment in which the Zamrock scene that flourished throughout that decade emerged. As we showed in this label's previous investigation into the genre (Rikki Ililonga and Musi-O-Tunya's Dark Sunrise (NA 5067CD/LP) fuzz guitars were commonplace, driving rhythms as influenced by James Brown's funk as Jimi Hendrix's rock predominated, musical themes were often bleak and bands largely sang in the country's constitutional language, English. Although Witch is the best known Zamrock ensemble and although they succeeded in releasing five albums in Zamrock's golden years -- they never made an impact on the global scale in, say, the way afro-beat maestro Fela Kuti did. Travel to and within Zambia is expensive, and the markers for the Zamrock scene are now few. Only a small number of the original Zamrock godfathers survived the AIDS epidemic that decimated this country. Witch's musical arc is contained to a five year span: The band's first two, self-produced albums, released in unison with the birth of the commercial Zambian recording industry, are exuberant experiments in garage rock, and are as influenced by the Rolling Stones as they are James Brown; their third albun, Lazy Bones!! is the band's masterpiece, a dark, brooding psychedelic opus that makes equal use of wah-wah and fuzz guitars, that relies as heavily on the stomping feel of hard rock as it does the syncopation of funk; the band's last two albums, recorded after the band toured with Osibisa, make use of traditional Zambian rhythms and folk melodies and are the most 'afro-rock'of Witch's oeuvre."
