NEW ARRIVALS

AUTOMATIC HEAD DETONATOR- -Road Kill -DIY punk 90s style- each cover different! 1993 orig press -Label:BLUE MAN FROM URANUS Roy Fielden (The Bambi Slam) DIY punk 90s style. 45 RPM $5 SKU:25325

BACKBITER - Rolled (Guitar player from the Freeks drummer from Clawhammer )Label:BLUE MAN FROM URANUS Backbiter's exhilarated debut Get Together is a collection of emphatic and distinct songs that nod to punk's alliances with R&B, as well as the screamy male emoting of late-'70s rock. Guitarist/vocalist Jonathan Hall delivers original and articulate lyrics on seven of the nine cuts, most notably on the melodic "Get Together" and "Rolled," released as a coveted single by Blue Man from Uranus (and co-written with bass player Heath Seifert). Spattered with competent, even magic acoustic moments, Get Together is a great record for remembering that in punk'n'roll, drums mean everything, thanks to a typically brilliant (and mercifully unburied) contribution by Claw Hammer's Bob Lee. 45 RPM $5 SKU:25323

THUGS /The Satones [Split EP]- (Hate Bombs) Garage-Surf Sci Fi rock 1997 orig press Label:BLUE MAN FROM URANUS This is the perfect split between two bands who could easily provide the soundtrack for any beach party movie released during the 1950s. On one hand, there are the Thugs, whose lo-fi brand of surf and raw punk energy flies at the fast pace of the Ventures on 78 rpms. Meanwhile, the Satones add a layer of '60s keyboards and heavy sci-fi themes that represent more of a futuristic appeal of surf this side of Man or Astro-man?. Perfect for any occasion that involves surf, sand, sun, and space aliens. 45 RPM $5 SKU:25324

HOPKINS,RICH& the Luminarios - Enchanted Rock country covers by the Gosdin Brothers and Patty Smith & a new original song that sounds very Raspberry–esque-)Label:SAN JACINTO Enchanted Rock was recorded live at Halversonics Studio in Austin, Texas in two days and mixed in one day. What makes this album different is there is a mix of country covers by the Gosdin Brothers and Patty Smith to a new original song that sounds very Raspberry-esque (Nobody Told You) to acoustic renditions of some of Hopkins' older songs like Paraguay and Dark Side of the Spoon. This album captures the band in a new light. The CD version of this release contains two additional tracks LP $19 SKU:25326

OLIVER-STANDING STONE(Green)1974 Welsh cultmind bending rarity -Label:GUERSSEN Now reissued is a Welsh cult private pressing rarity, originally from 1974. Farmer and part-time musician Oliver Chaplin recorded this mind bending album on a portable 4-track Teac reel-to-reel machine, assisted by his brother Chris, an experienced BBC engineer who was involved in sessions with a.o. Syd Barrett. Oliver sang and played acoustic and electric guitars, and plenty of effects were used to create a very unique kind of DIY mutant-psychedelic-blues (think Captain Beefheart) which sounded years ahead of its time. Though the original LP was pressed in an edition of only 250 copies, it caught the attention of a.o. Virgin Records and J.J. Cale, but Oliver decided not to get tangled up in the music industry. 'Standing Stone' is recommended to fans of a.o. Captain Beefheart, Syd Barrett, Fresh Maggots, Comus, Magical Power Maco and Brian Eno. LP $30 SKU:25299

Salty old El Vidocq has returned to port with yet another exceptional catch of silky 45s for this cracking 4th volume, illustrated by the marvelous Marcel Bontempi. Once again, the eye-candy jacket will wet your appetite for all the audio goodies within. COUNTRY-ST (1971 forgotten gem)Label:SLIPSTREAM Originally released in 1971 this forgotten gem is ripe for rediscovery. COUNTRY were originally a duo called Fondiler & Snow. Both Michael Fondiler and Tom Snow had already played with legends. Michael had been a member of the pre-SPIRIT bands The Red Roosters and Western Union whilst Tom had been an original member of Gram Parsons' band THE LIKE in 1965. With the addition of Michael's brother Steve, Bobby De Simone and Ian Espinoza they became COUNTRY and produced this marvellous album which holds similarities to the music of James Taylor, Jackson Browne and Bread. Impressed by the band, Peter Asher soon took over their leadership but despite recording another fine album their record label pulled the plug. Tom Snow stayed with Peter Asher for a solo career and later became a million selling songwriter for the likes of Linda Ronstadt, Little Feat, Bonnie Raitt, Cher... The list goes on and on. This Remastered album includes all original tracks, plus five bonus tracks that have never previously been released. One of these gems, 'SYLVIE', features Lowell George on slide guitar. SPIRIT's and JO JO GUNNE's Mark and Matt Andes also offer guest performances. Tom Snow tells Country's story in the extensive liner notes and recalls his days with Gram Parsons. Track Listing: 1. BITTER SEEDS/ROCK SHOP -STATE OF YOUR MIND (superb psyche release of remastered sixties recordings)Label:OUT-SIDER (Spain) A superb psyche release of remastered sixties recordings from a Monterey-based gang, active between 1966 and '70. In those heady days The Bitter Seeds were gigging regularly at all of California's legendary venues, opening for a.o. Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Iron Butterfly and Steppenwolf. In 1967, The Bitter Seeds recorded their only 45, issued under The Rock Shop moniker, as they wanted to avoid confusion with The Seeds. 'State Of Your Mind' b/w 'Is That Your Halo' was released on the Rowena label and is a brutal garage-psych double sider. The following year the group recorded four studio tracks which have remained unreleased until now. These are perfect examples of the transition from R&B-garage to early psychedelia. Also including rare live recordings from '66, this is an exciting release for all lovers of obscure and lost West Coast psychedelia. GILA - Free Electric Sound (1971 psych rock masterpiece) w 20 page deluxe booklet lp size , GATEFOLD COVER Label:GARDEN OF DELIGHTS (Germany): Gila is probably the GOD label's best or second-best known artist. And deservedly so... their eponymous 1971 debut album (known as 'Free Electric Sound') is a psychedelic rock masterpiece. The same foursome (fronted by guitarist/vocalist Conny Veit, who later had a stint with Guru Guru) then recorded a concert for radio, broadcast on 26 Feb 1972. This was subsequently edited down to 43 minutes—adly that is all that still exists of the show. Released here as "Night Works," it captures a different dimension of the band in a live setting. On tracks like ‘Braintwist’ and the wonderfully cosmic ‘Gila Symphony,’ the group comes across much like the Doors doing their own “Space Ritual.” However, the overall mix of textures ends up sounding very Germanic in the end; for example, the outstanding ‘Trampelpfad’ simply couldn't have been created by an American group. The source tape isn't perfect (a few noticeable dropouts now and again) but we’re glad that the magnificence of this single performance is still preserved. All of the tracks included here are unique to “Night Works,” making it a true second album by the band’s original lineup. Cover artwork was painted by Gila guitarist Conny Veit himself. The 12-page LP-sized booklet contains an extremely elaborate history of the band in German, English and Swedish, a very meticulous discography, numerous cover and label repros, many so far unseen Gila photographs, leaving nothing left to be desired. Limited edition of 1000 numbered LPs. LP $30 SKU:20882
