HOOKER -Rock and Roll (70s TEXAS guitar) Label:ROCKADROME Previously unreleased Houston hard rock band from the late 70’s with that ripping Texas twin guitar sound. This album was taken from sessions recorded in 1978, painstakingly unearthed, edited and remastered for proper release. On multi colored vinyl, limited to 500 copies! Hooker had been around in various configurations since 1972. First recordings began in 1974 at Rampart Studios under the direction of studio engineer Jeff Wells. Those early demos featured Hooker as a three piece hard rock/blues rock band, it wasnt until later that they began to take a decidedly heavier approach in sound and style. With the addition of Robert Hampton in place of Tim Cannon on lead/rhythm guitar, the band began to find their direction and hit the clubs hard. Influenced by bands such as Tin House, Ted Nugent, and Black Oak Arkansas, Hooker had it all on stage - flash, great songs, lots of groupies, and of course all the best drugs! Well, that couldn't last, and the band called it a day in 1983 when the lifestyle finally caught up to David Howland. The other members soldiered on in various reconstructed versions of Hooker, with varying degrees of success. The short lived post Hooker band Stallions was a highlight, with all the same elements of Hooker including three of the four members. Eventually, David would rejoin the band and Stallions became Hooker for all intents and purposes. Unfortunately, the music world had changed too dramatically since the days when a band could play the kind of loud, aggressive, dual guitar riff-rock that Hooker so convincingly played. This record represents the pinnacle of the band, the long lost 1978 Inergi Studios recordings that never saw official release all those years ago. This album is the one that should have come out in 1978. Better late than never. CD $15 SKU:18281

They performed numerous times in Western Canada and the US, including gigs with The Clash and Ramones, and produced three sets of studio recordings. A new 12" vinyl LP of the original Dishrags power trio, entitled Three, features 14 previously unreleased live recordings, plus their first 3-song single, 2 songs recorded for Vancouver Complication, and 1 live bonus track from their 1997 CD. DRUM CIRCUS -Magic Theatre (1971 truly insane psychedelic music with LSD drenched lyrics )-Label:GARDEN OF DELIGHTS Rare album by Swiss band, featuring two members of Brainticket including their leader Joel Van Droogenbroec; truly insane psychedelic music with LSD drenched lyrics by Timothy Leary; first released in 1971. "Founder and leader of Drum Circus was master drummer Peter Giger. “A giant on drums”, as the newspaper “Rhein-Main-Zeitung” called him. He was joined by two additional drummers, as well as by Joel Vandroogenbroeck and Carole Muriel, both from Brainticket. Therefore, it’s not surprising that “Magic theatre”, with its LSD-dripping lyrics (partly written by Timothy Leary, partly influenced by The Tibetan Book of the Dead), is a lot like early Brainticket. “Magic theatre” was recorded in the excellent studio of Horst Jankowski in Stuttgart. Yet, it remained unreleased. Shortly before his death, Horst Jankowski gave the tapes to Peter Giger LP $26 SKU:18027

RESTOCKS

FINCHLEY BOYS- Everlasting Tributes DELUXE DOUBLE CD (70s heavy psych )Label:REACTION Parasol Label Group's reissues imprint, Reaction Recordings, is thrilled to announce the long-overdue deluxe 2xCD and digital reissue of The Finchley Boys' 1972 album, "Everlasting Tributes." For those who don't know, it's a great wasted heavy psych record, featuring cuts like their hard-rocking reinterpretation of the Kinks song ‘I'm Not Like Everybody Else’, the superb ‘It All Ends’, and the best cut for me, the anti-establishment anthem ‘Restrictions’. This is the only album ever released—and it’s a good one—by this band from Champaign, Illinois. Known for their great live shows and theatrical antics, including some stage work with a live boa constrictor five years before Alice Cooper made it famous, the Finchley Boys were ahead of their time. They started recording in the fall of 1968 and throughout 1969, but those songs would not be heard until the release of "Everlasting Tributes." Although the original album has been bootlegged many times over the decades these pirated releases delivered poor sound quality. This, the first official, definitive, band-authorized CD/digital release for the Finchley's material, was carefully restored from the original master tapes. Considerable time was then spent remastering the tracks to bring them up to modern day standards. The deluxe 2xCD package features a second disc of bonus tracks, entitled "Neverending Tributes," which includes a recently rediscovered trove of recordings from 1968-1969. Also includes a 24-page booklet featuring liner notes by Ugly Things Zine scribe Scott Wilkerson as well as a slew of rare/never-before-seen photos. CD $25 SKU:18035

TIN HOUSE- ST (70s powerhouse rock) w liners, rare photos, insert plus pic slv EP -Label:LION In the twinkling universe of virtuoso electric guitarists that followed in the wake of the genre’s progenitor Jimi Hendrix, perhaps one of the most deserving of renewed recognition is Floyd Radford of the band Tin House, a little known three piece that signed briefly to CBS records in 1970 and released one highly prized album a year later. The overdriven, fluid guitar work—heavy on the wah-wah pedal—is brought to the fore by a beefy full production." —Richard Allen, Shindig! MagazineTin House were so good—their music was a hard-rocking onslaught of lust, chops and powerhouse riffs that gripped like an alligator bite—they were signed to Epic Records out of high school. They were respected by Leslie West and Johnny and Edgar Winter. Their album (released in 1971) was produced by Rick Derringer. But like other almost famous bands, Tin House fell away into unjust obscurity. Tin House's focus was on heavy rock like the sex-fueled opener, ‘I Want Your Body,' and standout track ‘Be Good and Be Kind,’ with a catchy up-and-down, down-and-up riff played adeptly by guitar prodigy Floyd Radford, and a driving monster beat laid down by drummer Mike Logan; the song tears in as a fast as a Florida hurricane and sweeps the listener up into its vortex for two-and-a-half minutes of energized bliss. Yet the album also showed diversity: Radford’s melancholy ballad ‘Tomorrow;’ the jivin’ honky tonk of ‘30 Weight Blues’ (a tribute to the band’s 1962 Ford Econoline van); ‘Lady of the Silent Opera,’ which featured orchestration by seasoned studio musicians from New York City’s Local 802 Union to underscore its positive message of “look to the heaven—smile to the blue sky.” This Lion Productions reissue includes everything Tin House recorded for Epic, including two previously unreleased tracks and the elusive (and unique) single versions of 'I Want Your Body' and 'Be Good and Be Kind'—all taken directly from 24-bit/96kHz master tape transfers. Four panel insert has liner notes by Doug Sheppard (Ugly Things) and photos from the archive of drummer Mike Logan. Lean, fluid, tight, and the best hard rock album from the USA you probably never heard of (until now)!

•All tracks taken from the master tapes!

•Comes with 16-page color booklet w/liner notes by Doug Sheppard (Ugly Things) and photos from the archive of drummer Mike Logan

BURNT SUITE -ST- ( ‘72 hippie psychedelic stoner rockLabel:VOID A wonderful vinyl reissue of the one and only album by Burnt Suite, a rural hippie psychedelic stoner rock release from 1972. This LP has been a big collector's item for many years. This legitimate reissue, with involvement of members Bill Florian and Woody Andrews, finally sees the light of day in a limited edition of 500 copies on black vinyl and including an insert." Released on the BJM label, in 1972, the only release by East Hartford, CT's Burnt Suite is a mix of country rock and harder rock with mild psych influences. The lack of personnel, coupled with the spartan production, yields a weirdly stripped down sound, and a vibe that they may not have exactly been going for, but is very desirable and modern and underground in its feel. At times a Creme Soda-esque 60's throwback sound emerges from the mix, or some bars of frantic rhythm guitar, and then it's back to the minimal style. A record with many admirers8 LP $21 SKU:17885

GREYLOCK MANSION-ST (pure underground 68 w 3 inserts)Label:Lysergic Sound Unother buried treasure of pure underground psychedelia: GREYLOCK MANSION, who emerged loudly from Tucson, Arizona in 1968. The band's sound (as heard on the opening track of LSD's best-selling "St. Albert's Dream" compilation) is powerful, deep underground psych with thick, dominant funereal organ and distorted fuzz guitar and effects, backed by heavy precise drumming.
Included are three inserts—a 4 page folder with pictures and text; a psychedelic poster w/lyrics; and a color reproduction of a poster from Unifest 1970 in New Mexico. LP $24 SKU:17972

MAY BLITZ - ESSEN 1970-rare 70s Pink Floyd style psych - Label:GARDEN OF DELIGHT Comes in deluxe gatefold cover. The 8-page insert in LP size contains a long band history in German and English, a detailed discography, numerous cover and label repros, as well as a personal retrospective report by guitarist and singer James Black.May Blitz have been compared to Led Zeppelin, the early Black Sabbath, or early Uriah Heep—the only difference being that May Blitz never had their great breakthrough. Their history ended after only two LPs which are today in high demand. On Tuesday, 22nd October 1970, the group performed in the Gruga Hall at the third Essen Pop & Blues Festival. The event was recorded semi-professionally by the promoters. The recordings were mastered in a first-class sound studio with great effort and care. The sound, however, is naturally not as good as that of the two studio LPs. Comes in deluxe gatefold cover. The 8-page insert in LP size contains a long band history in German and English, a detailed discography, numerous cover and label repros, as well as a personal retrospective report by guitarist and singer James Black. A must for collectors. It is the first legitimate release of a May Blitz live recording. LP $26 SKU:18028

SKY SAXON -In Praise Of Our Father (1976 psych)- PURPLE VINYLLabel:SWORDFISH (England) : Limited edition of 300 copies on purple vinyl. Swordfish proudly presents a collection of the rarest recordings of the legendary Sky Saxon/Arelich Sunlight Aquarian. "In Praise Of Our Father" (aka "Yod Ship #3) is a free-form psychedelic jam featuring Sky fronting the Spirit of 76 band. Originally pressed as a one-sided LP, it is scarce beyond belief as only 3 copies are known to exist in the entire world. "Lovers Cosmic Voyage" is one of several one-off projects Sky had going in the mid @70's, it leans towards the more cosmic/Ya Ho Wha side of his output. Originally released in minute quantities around 1976, it is most likely to have been recorded circa 1973 and around the same time as "In Praise Of Our Father" As an added bonus 2 previously unreleased tracks, "Hope" and "Wolves and Dogs" have been included. It contains an insert with comments from Djin Aquarian. LP $34 SKU:18037
