In label news, our own BONNEVILLES have been nominated for a UK BLUES award, and more reviews are pouring in for BEECHWOOD, including a review of their live show with David Johansson… "Their sound is a classic, hot and sweaty, raw and nasty, rock and roll spirit, that commands the room with a real classic NYC sound, like a mix of Velvet Underground, Ramones, and aptly for the night, the New York Dolls, and their killer cover of The Kinks’ “I’m Not Like Everybody Else” nearly blew the lid of the place." Check all of the latest news HERE!

Thanks for all,

REDBONE-Come and Get Your Redbone Best of (1965 L.A. HENDRIX FAVE) Label:FLOATING WORLD Redbone was a Los Angeles-based band led by Native American Pat and Lolly Vegas, both lead singers who had previously worked under their own names, appearing in the 1965 film It's a Bikini World prior to forming Redbone, an all-Native band, at the encouragement of Jimi Hendrix. Their first success with Redbone came in 1970 with 'Maggie' on Epic. 'The Witch Queen of New Orleans' did somewhat better the next year, and 'Come and Get Your Love'—a single that peaked at number five on the Billboard Hot 100 and went platinum—gave them their greatest exposure. It would also be the band's last hit, though they continued to record and perform on an intermittent basis. In 2008, Redbone entered the Native American Music Awards Hall of Fame. Six years later, 'Come and Get Your Love' was introduced to a new generation when it was featured in the superhero film Guardians of the Galaxy. —Bill Dahl, Rovi CD $10 SKU:19535

31 FLAVORS- Hair (Rare 60s psych ) -Label:OUT-SIDER (Spain) In the late 60s, a bunch of mysterious psychedelic exploitation albums were released by the budget Crown label in the US. Issued under different band names (The Firebirds, Underground Electrics, 31 Flavors…) , they were recorded by an anonymous group of studio musicians. “Hair” by 31 Flavors is the counterpart to “Light My Fire” by The Firebirds. Along with demented raw garage covers of “Hair” and “Aquarius”, it contains some of the heaviest, fuzzed out exploitation sounds ever committed to vinyl. You can hear echoes of Blue Cheer, Hendrix and Sabbath, featuring proto-doom, heavy-psych bombs like “Distortions of darkness” “One of the best of the psych-ploitation LPs, with more fuzzzz than a dozen 1971 private press hardrockers. Great raw live feel, wild playing and excellent fuzz riffs” -Patrick Lundborg (Acid Archives) LP $19 SKU:15775

AIRBUS- Test FLight (West Coast 70s pop)-Label:GUERSSEN “West Coast Consortium spin-off Airbus never played live or even released a record during their 1970-1972 lifespan, instead spending their entire subterranean existence holed up in their self-owned London studio, writing and performing innumerable high quality demos and then attempting to place those songs with major label acts. But, more by accident than design, they came to leave behind THE Great Lost Early '70s British Pop Album -- a jaw-dropping collision of superb songs, dazzling vocal harmonies, intelligent lyrics and hook-laden melodies. Here, then, is the strange, previously-untold story of a band that didn't leave so much as a footprint in the musical sands, but recorded a greater number of three-minute pop nuggets than almost all of their contemporaries. In a limited pressing of 500 copies on 180 gram vinyl with detailed liner notes.” LP $19 SKU:12613

ANGELES DE OPIO - ST (Killer Spanish heavy psych acid jam) Label: GUERSSEN Ángeles De Opio was an underground heavy-psych power trio formed in 2005 by Spanish guitar God JC Sisto (Mater Dronic, Shakti’s Delirium) plus Sergio and Adrián Ceballos (RIP KC, Melange). This project was born just after Sisto released his psych opus, “Mundo Espectro”, under the Mater Dronic name in 2005. Ángeles de Opio (“Opium Angels”) played only a few shows, being ignored by virtually everyone, as their extreme, heavy psychedelic jamming & improvised sound was too much for Spanish audiences at the time. In 2006, some of their private, raw recordings saw the light under the name Fuzzy Lady (probably a wink to obscure psych bands like Wicked Lady and Fuzzy Duck) but only as homemade CDs which circulated between “those in the know” at the time. For the first time on vinyl, we present some of those recordings. Two sidelong tracks of wild acid-fuzz-wah guitar jamming. You all know that JC Sisto is a killer guitar player but on these recordings he pushes his guitar to the stratosphere without any limits. 100% acid fried guitar damage which brings to mind fellow Japanese travellers like High Rise or Mainliner and 70s hard-rock beasts like “Stoned Guitar” era Human Instinct. (New Records) LP $19 SKU:19549

APPLE - An Apple a Day(Super-rare UK '60s garage-pop psychedelic! w liners and 2 inserts ) - Label:GUERSSEN RECORDS (SPAIN) Old-style backflapped cover, including a facsimile of the full-color, very rare original insert, plus an extra insert with extensive liner notes by Andy Morten. ARCESIA-Reachin' (rare 70’s private press acid-rock/pop, gatefold, w insert and lyrics -Label:GUERSSEN RECORDS (SPAIN) A classic since year zero of rare record collecting, Reachin' Arcesia has always been the focus of many rumors and bizarre stories. Guerssen sets the record straight with this, the first ever legitimate reissue of this legendary album. John Arcesi was a veteran singer of the big band era who, in the early '70s, recorded a pop album with help from an anonymous hip studio musicians. The album was released in a private edition of 300 copies and most of them were given away to family and friends. In the late '80s, one of those copies was unearthed by record dealer Paul Major, who was one of the first people to appreciate the singularity of Reachin' Arcesia. Since then, the album, which mixes over-the-top crooner vocals with late '60s acid-rock and pop arrangements, has developed a reputation as a lounge-psych/real people masterpiece. Remastered and presented in a gatefold sleeve with the original artwork on the back and a new cover design on the front. Includes insert with lyrics. Features detailed liner notes and rare photos in the inner gatefold, telling the real story of John Arcesi. LP $19 SKU:16346

ATHANOR - Inside Out: The Demos 1973-1977- insert w. rare pictures , liners 180 gram 70s psych) -Label:GUERSSEN The follow-up to our acclaimed “Flashback” (Guess110), finds Athanor (the duo formed by Greg Herriges and Rick Vittenson) digging deeper into their archives and coming out with and amazing set of previously unreleased recordings, done at their state-of-the-art home studio back at the time.Captivating Beatle-esque, fuzzed-out psychedelia & folk-rock full of Lennon-esque vocals and 12-string Rickenbackers by '70s Chicago wunderkind duo. 1973-1977 recordings plus one '70s-era track cut in 2014 with Jeff Murphy (Shoes) on backup vocals. Basement psych-pop and proto-power pop has rarely sounded better! Remastered sound from the original tapes, insert with rare photos and detailed liner notes by Jeremy Cargill (Ugly Things/Got Kinda Lost) and Jeff Murphy (Shoes). “…These aren’t longing, writing demos with tossed-off guide attempts, but instead full-form creations… The pulsating waves of snaking fuzz opening the set with “Love Shining” prepare you for the trip with an indelible riff, while moments of soul exorcism lay bare elsewhere” – Jeremy Cargill LP $19 SKU:19550

AVALANCHE -Perseverance Kills Our Game (Dutch 70s fuzz masterpiece)P Label:GUERSSEN Dutch band Avalanche was formed in the early 70s and recorded their only album in 1979. “Perseverance kills our game” was released as a private edition of 500 copies, which were only distributed among friends and relatives. Despite being a home-made project (the album was recorded in just one day!) the result was stunning. An absolute masterpiece of European progressive / psychedelic folk-rock. Mostly instrumental (flute, piano, bass, drums, and killer fuzz guitar), with a few vocals in English. Alternates between delicate acoustic passages and devastating fuzz leads, sounding like Fairport Convention jamming with early Ash Ra Tempel. The album closes with an extended 11 minute track on which guitar player Daan Slaman starts playing leads like a madman, creating layers and layers of liquid acid-fuzz guitar. It has to be heard to be believed! First ever reissue, done in cooperation with the original band members. Insert/booklet with rare photos and liner notes by Richard Allen. Carefully remastered from original vinyl (the masters were destroyed long ago) using state-of-the-art equipment, resulting in stunning sound quality. LP $19 SKU:19551

BITTER SEEDS/THE ROCK SHOP, THE- State of Your Mind ( pioneering '60s San Francisco garage psych band , our-page insert with liner notes, photos, and memorabilia ) -Label:OUT-SIDER (SPAIN) 'The Bitter Seeds were one of the pioneering bands from the early Monterey music scene. Lead by flashy guitar player Leonard “Pooch” Paschini, they were active from 1966 to 1970, gigging regularly at such legendary venues as Bull’s Eye Tavern, Longshoreman’s Hall, Matrix, Fillmore, etc, sharing stage with famous bands like Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Iron Butterfly or Steppenwolf. In 1967, The Bitter Seeds recorded their only 45, issued under The Rock Shop name, as they wanted to avoid confusion with The Seeds. 'State of your mind' b/w 'Is that your halo' was released on the Rowena label; it’s a brutal garage-psych double sider. The following year the group recorded four studio tracks which have remained unreleased until now. These are perfect examples of the transition from R&B-garage to early psychedelic sounds which many San Francisco ballroom bands experienced at the time. An exciting find for any lover of lost West Coast psychedelic sounds. For this Bitter Seeds / Rock Shop retrospective, we’ve also unearthed some wild live recordings from 1966 with good sound quality. And amazing document which had been buried until now. Four page insert with liner notes and lot of photos / memorabilia. Remastered sound. “…“Is That Your Halo” is an intensely menacing punker that rumbles into Yardbirds' rave-up territory at the bridge where incendiary leads battle with rasping harmonica; “State Of Your Mind” is an almost equally powerful acid-punker - truly a double-whammy of a 45…” —Fuzz, Acid & Flowers. LP $19 SKU:16537

DELLO, PETE & FRIENDS-Into your Ear (70s psych masterpiece-Label:GOT KINDA LOST Psych collectors hail this as a masterpiece, an irresistible set of songs both beautiful and whimsical. Four bonus tracks; limited to 3000 copies! LP $19 SKU:4944

JOHNNY BLACKBURN & MARY LAUREN- Echoes of Love's Reality (80s psych --Label:OUT-SIDER (SPAIN) Most would probably agree that this is one of the very best psych- style LPs from the 1980s. Not retro at all but (like Bobb Trimble) a piece of the late 1960s preserved from time's rust. Male/female vocals lament and serenade the quest for knowledge of love and beauty in an appealing soundscape, with lyrical guitar leads throughout, good use of mellotron, occasional tablas, flute and bells. The recording has a definite 1981 sound but (again, like Bobb Trimble) this somehow becomes an advantage. There's not a questionable song on this album, recommended to anyone open for a soft, dreamy trip inside the melancholy and bliss of an acid- tinted romance." (The Acid Archives). High-quality reissue in 180g vinyl, nice carton with original artwork, unbeatable remastered sound quality and also including the huge 16- paged booklet with lyrics and drawings. 500 copies limited release.'' LP $19 SKU:19552

FARREN, MICK - MONA (Deviants 1970) Label:CAPTAIN TRIP debut solo album of former Deviants leader released on Transatlantic in 1970; primarily hard-rocking heavy metal-ish versions of R&B songs. Farren had returned to the UK from a tour of the west coast of North America with The Deviants, who had risen up against him and sacked him. Farren had, however, previously discussed the idea of a solo album for the second LP of three on the Transatlantic contract. "I was crazy when I did Mona—really mentally ill," Farren has said. "If I listen to it I can still feel it. Maybe I should have chilled out for a few months before making the album, but I was a bit depressed, and I thought I'd just do it entirely my own way for the first time." 'Carnivorous Circus' is a montage of song and spoken word, featuring interviews with a Hells Angel and Steve Took, the latter recounting time he spent in Ashford Remand Centre, as well as recordings of political speeches. Took also provides lead vocal for the short Observe The Ravens section of the title track. Also, during the Society of the Horsemen jam he quotes a lyric ("it don't feel good, 'cos it was made out of wood") from one of his own songs, 'Steel Abortion' (later recorded by his band Shagrat). The cello on "Mona" was provided by Paul Buckmaster, who had demonstrated to Farren the similarities between Bo Diddley and Béla Bartók. CD $10 SKU:18990

KALEIDOSCOPE (USA-Pulsating Dream TRIPLE CD -Label:FLOATING WORLD One of the few groups of the psychedelic era whose musicianship was equal to their ambition—they delved into every possible musical genre, and invented a couple of their own. CD $14 SKU:19502

KOOBAS-ST (fuzzed out 60s psych !) -Label:BEAT GOES ON Heavy and fuzzed out guitar psychedelia at it's best from one Liverpool group that didn’t make it big. On this disc, Beat Goes On has reissued the Koobas' self-titled EMI-Columbia album with eight bonus tracks drawn from their early singles for the label, thus assembling their complete post-1966 work in one place for the first time CD $10 SKU:14221

MARKLEY- A Group (US psych legends) Label:ACID SYMPOSIUM (Greece) Reissue on CD of what was actually the 5th and final album by The West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band are a showcase for the various dementias of vocalist Bob Markley (paranoia and a very keen interest in young—emphasis on young—women), and the electric shock treatment of guitarist/vocalist Dan Harris; the album's rich harmonies and full, delicate arrangements show the abundant influence of Michael Lloyd, who co-produced the album with Markley; tracks such as "Elegant Ellen", "Sweet Lady Eleven" and "Magic Cat" are nearly as good as some of the highlights from the WCPAEB catalog; a surprisingly consistent and accomplished album for a band about to collapse under the collective weight of it's own insanity. CD $10 SKU:8154

MOUNTAIN -Canadian Festival Express 1970-Label:VOICEPRINT Scorching live recording by Leslie West's legendary band of rockers, recorded at the Canadian Festival Express in 1970. The tenth volume in the Mountain Bootleg Series was recorded on their Canadian Festival Express tour in 1971. As with all the other volumes in the series, all of the recordings come from Leslie West and Corky Laing's personal archives. Some of the performances are not sonically perfect, but the quality of the performances are never in question. When 1970 began, New York hard rockers Mountain were one of the most promising new bands. Their 1969 debut (while the album was titled “Mountain,” it was credited solely to Leslie West) had led to a highly coveted spot in the original Woodstock festival, thrusting the band was into the spotlight. By the year's end, due to their exceptional sophomore effort, “Climbing,” Mountain were one of the US's premier rock outfits CD $8 SKU:19503

MOUNTAIN -Live in San Bernadino, CA 1971-Label:VOICEPRINT Mountain was formed in 1969 by guitarist Leslie West and bassist and former Cream producer Felix Pappalardi. The two met while West was a member of Long Island R&B band the Vagrants When West left the Vagrants to record a solo album it was agreed that Felix Pappalardi would produce the said album which was entitled Mountain. The sessions for the album went so well that it was decided that the pair would form a band and the band would take its name from Leslie’s album. So it was that Mountain was born. Joining Leslie and Felix was drummer N.D. Smart who had also played on Leslie’s album and keyboard player Steve Knight. The band started to gig and whilst the response was positive no one would have dreamed how big the audience would be for the bands fourth gig. In August 1969 Mountain along with the likes of the Who, Jefferson Airplane, Crosby Stills Nash and Young—and of course Jimi Hendrix—played at the Woodstock festival. CD $8 SKU:19504

MOUNTAIN - Live At The Capitol Theater 1974-Label:VOICEPRINT Continuing this great collection of Live Mountain performances here is a show from 1974 from the Capitol Theatre in Passaic, New Jersey, from the period when the band had re-formed and the core trio of Leslie West, Felix Pappalardi and Corky Lang reunited for a series of successful dates and a great album called "Avalanche". The re-union was unfortunately short lived which makes the recordings on this disc all the more precious. CD $8 SKU:19505

SOFT MACHINE- Turns On Vol 1 &2 (1967) DOUBLE CD -Label:VOICEPRINT (England) Double disc combines both individual "Turns On" volumes, in new packaging. Volume 1 is a vital collection of archival live Soft Machine recordings from 1967, and (unlike “Turns On Vol. 2”) includes some studio recordings. Robert Wyatt's drumming is nearly miraculous, and Mike Ratledge's organ is at its daring and explorative best. Fans will appreciate some of these recordings, especially the first 'Clarence in Wonderland'; the 13-minute 'Hope for Happiness'; and Wyatt's 'Lullaby Letter.' Recording information: European Studio (1967); Middle Earth And Speakeasy Clubs, London, England (1967); UK Studio (1967). As for Vol. 2, this is not meant as an introduction to the band for novices, but lovers of the Soft Machine will be blown away by the alternate versions on the disc; they are even more daring than the official releases. The tracks on this disc are drawn from three live performances: tracks 1-5 are from Amerstdam, 10 December 1967; track 6 is from the Middle Earth Club in London, 10 November 1967; tracks 7-14 are from Col Ballroom, Davenport, Iowa, 11 August 1968. CD $12 SKU:19506

TERRY & THE PIRATES- Comanche Boots (70s )-Label:ACADIA Twenty nine years after the release of the original Too Close For Comfort comes the third issue of this priceless and timeless music from San Francisco's own Terry & The Pirates.” Another view: “Probably only remembered today as one of the many bands graced by the guitarwork of John Cipollina following his departure from Quicksilver Messenger Service, and as a footnote in the career of Nicky Hopkins, Terry and the Pirates deserve much greater recognition. Although Cipollina’s feral guitar is undoubtedly essential to their charms, the work of Terry Dolan himself should not be underestimated. His voice is an acquired taste, a strange mixture of David Crosby and Captain Beefheart, but as such, it’s impressively distinctive. Meanwhile, his songwriting mines that same rich vein of American folk which yielded ‘Pride Of Man’ (so memorably covered by Quicksilver). The best songs on this collection of various live and studio recordings are certainly Dolan’s own. Whilst a version of Jackie Wilson’s ‘Higher & Higher’ might be entertainingly audacious, covers of ‘Mystery Train’ and ‘Don’t Do It’ aren’t going to make anybody forget those by The Band, despite some impressive sparring between Cipollina and second guitarist Greg Douglass on the latter. In this context, tracks like ‘Inside and Out’ and ‘Inlaws and Outlaws’ distinguish themselves as fine examples of original Californian rock n’ roll. Even if none of this is especially ground-breaking or epoch-defining music, it’s played with spirit and any fans of West Coast music who might have easily overlooked it should be sure to rectify their mistake. CD $10 SKU:18999

TETRAGON- Nature ( TRIPPY 70s Krautrock ) -Label:LION An ecology-inspired Krautrock album (1971) from a short-lived group comprised of German school-chums, some of whom had recorded an LP as Trikolon. Tetragon did not conform to any predetermined musical style: they played whatever they pleased, as long as it included groovy Hammond organ and very trippy, flanged wah-wah guitar, in various taut jamming modes that favored jazz/rock fusion à la Miles Davis with a small dose of classical music (adapting a Bach fugue along the way). The result is a bouquet of lush instrumentals, with elements of Egg or the Nice, and quite a bit of T2 to boot. The album was recorded in a converted barn, using a Revox A77 two-track tape recorder and seven microphones placed judiciously to best capture the sound of each instrument. Re-recording wasn1t possible, as the record was mixed live. Yet these challenging conditions inspired the band to great heights: Hendrik Schaper played organ and clavinet simultaneously, with one hand on each keyboard; meanwhile, Jürgen Jaehner unleashed rampaging electric guitar solos, then, in an instant, switched to acoustic guitar for the next musical passage; Schaper didn't own a piano, so he used a pre-amp with a wah-wah pedal to imitate that instruments sound. A virtuoso effort, from start to finish! Tetragon didn't bother contacting any record labels; they didn't their music would interest anyone. A mere 400 copies of the album were released on a private label, named Soma after the drug-induced effect described in Alduous Huxleys Brave New World. Our edition includes all of the original pro-environment, anti-industrial pollution gatefold album art, a detailed band history, band photos, and a nearly fifteen-minute bonus track, recorded live in Georgsmarienhütte in 1972. CD $14 SKU:10608

BRAIN SOUND -An Attempt To Record Coincidence (rare Aussie 1972 Hans Pokoro fave) -Label:NERO’S NEPTUNE (USA) Pictured in all its tantalizing, eye-popping glory in Hans Pokora's 1001 Record Collector Dreams, this hellishly rare Austrian avant-garde LP from 1972 is nothing short of astonishing. There are no instruments, but rather varying configurations of solo, duo and ensemble vocal improvisations, presumably informed by the aforementioned (and nearly impenetrable) code (or “charts”). Although this might be seen as part of an interesting continuum, this unique and prescient music will stun even the most astute followers of outsider art. Describe it, you say? Shape note singing for acidheads, perhaps? From an avant-classical perspective, one might mention late 60's Penderecki as a possible reference point (along with Ligeti, or perhaps even Nono). In improvised music, the Spontaneous Music Ensemble’s larger workshop groups similarly feature masses of vocal sounds; comparisons with Alan Watts’ This Is It are as plausible as they are inevitable. Ultimately, though, nothing will quite prepare you for this LP. In fact, when an original copy landed at Nero’s Neptune headquarters, one notorious ‘outsider’ label chief/collector extraordinaire's peni-meter became so perilously engorged that he nearly burst with envy, casting ridiculous offers of rare wax and unmentionable ‘favors’ our way whilst begging to let him take over. In other words, we strongly recommend purchasing this limited reissue while you can and securing appropriate spiritual condiments for the trip. After all, you CAN be anyone this time around.” High-gloss tip-on sleeves with HQ-180 gram vinyl. LP $18 SKU:19494

CITY BLUES -Blues For Lawrence Street ( Ultra-rare private garage blues 67 )-Label:VOID RECORDS (USA Ultra-rare private garage blues LP from the Los Angeles area (released on Nouveau Records in 1967); reminds many of early Quicksilver Messenger Service, specifically the 1966 pre-Cipollina lineup as heard on the Groucho releases. Trebly guitars, wailing harmonica, etc. One of the rarest California private LPs with originals virtually non-existent and fetching large sums. Limited to 500 copies." As Bob Lescher recalled, "I got mad at Dick and threw a harmonica at him. My patience was pretty short in those days. Lucky that he ducked. It left a hole in the acoustics on the wall of the studio. The final track, 'Smokestack Lightning,' is about twelve minutes long with all sorts of noddling going on. It was our take on Butterfield's East-West." LP $21 SKU:16353

DEVIL’S KITCHEN- ST (SF 60s psych ) Label:LYSERGIC SOUND First ever release by DEVIL’S KITCHEN, perhaps the best of the greatly talented but “forgotten” bands from the legendary San Francisco psychedelic scene of the late 1960’s. This heavy guitar-powered psychedelic four piece band moved from their original Southern Illinois base to the Bay Area during The Summer Of Love. The band came to the attention of Bill Graham and Chet Helms in 1968 and was soon playing on a regular basis at The Fillmore West. A short time later Devil’s Kitchen became the house band at Helms’ Family Dog Ball-room on The Great Highway in San Francisco and remained there in that capacity from the spring of 1968 until the summer of 1970. Devil’s Kitchen played all the major venues in The Bay Area and Los Angeles during this time period, opening for and playing frequently with many very well-known bands, including The Jefferson Airplane, The Grateful Dead, Santana, Quicksilver Messenger Service, The Allman Brothers, Big Brother And The Holding Company with Janis, The Charlatans and many, many others. The band spurned a recording contract offer from Mercury Records in 1968, displeased with the lack of creative control offered them by the label. Consequently, they never released any recordings. There are eight original unreleased tracks on this album and all were taken from the original master tapes that were recorded in 1969 at The Family Dog Ballroom On The Great Highway in San Francisco and the Sierra Sound Recording Studio in Berkeley. The music has a great and unmistakable late 60’s acid-drenched West Coast guitar-driven blues-psych sound with snakey electric slide and roaring fuzz guitar throughout, provided by the talented Robbie Stokes who later went on to play with Quicksilver Messenger Service and appeared on Mickey Hart’s 1972 “Rolling Thunder” LP, just to mention two of his many musical credits. The discovery of these master tapes and this subsequent release of Devil’s Kitchen’s first full length album, more than forty years after the recordings were made, is an exciting find for the collectors of obscure 60’s psychedelia. How a great band like this remained under the radar and unreleased for all these years is mystifying. Limited pressing of 1,000 hand-numbered copies. Welcome again to the great San Francisco sound of the late 1960’s! LP $21 SKU:12995

MCKENNA MENDELSON BLUES- ST (bluesy psych demo tapes from 1968) -Label:PACEMAKER Another great album from Canada's legendary Paragon label, a set of super bluesy psych demo tapes from 1968; the band’s album “Stink” was received not just as a great album of electric blues, but as some sort of revelation when it appeared in the second half of 1969. Lead guitarist Mike McKenna spent time ('67-'68) in the Ugly Ducklings, but he had already developed a 'local hero' tag by playing hard electric blues as a member of the legendary Luke and the Apostles. Together, he and Joe Mendelson made arrestingly earthy music, which soon attracted another of Toronto's rock gods of the day, bassist Denny Gerrard from the Paupers, whose legendary talents had served him well on the stage of the Monterey Pop Festival, where his work with the Paupers was (and still is) considered a highlight. The material included on this disc, which was demo material that now the band claim was “bootegged” by the legitimate Paragon label (a little revisionist history, perhaps?), is arguably even more rare and interesting than that on their classic McKenna Mendelson Mainline "Stink" album. SANDHY & MANDHY - Para Castukis ( Rare 70s psych ) 60s style gatefold jacket - Label:LION Here at last is a chance to discover why people have been willing to pay a very steep price to hear Sandhy & Mandhy, the duo who were not a duo, the band who were not a band, creators of perhaps the rarest and most expensive album from Argentina. To tell the story of Sandhy & Mandhy, we have to go back to 1967, when Alberto Infusino (Sandhy) and Alberto Vanasco (Mandhy) began their musical partnership in the beat band The New Free Men. Like many bands of that time, Los Shaker1s and Los Walkers, for example, the New Free Men played covers of songs by the Zombies, Animals, Kinks, Yardbirds, Doors, and so on, in clubs and at parties. Yet at the same time, Infusino and Vanasco started to play their own compositions, with a national touch to the music. Let’s let Vanasco (Mandhy) take up the story: “ In 1969, we went to talk with Billy Bond, chief of La Pesada del Rock Roll, to ask about the chance to make an album. Bond said that he was not looking for a band, but for a duo who sang songs in Spanish... So, we called some friends to play together, and we called the project Sandhy & Mandhy.” They recorded the album in three hours, with a full band (Farfisa organ, congas, drums, bass, and guitars)‹one take of each song. Instead of a demo, they decided to press an LP: the company (Phonalex) pressed 110 LPs in total, which the band gave out at gigs. Sandhy & Mandhy were one of the first bands in South America bring a rebellious attitude to the music scene‹all this in a period of military repression, when forced haircuts in the streets were a common occurrence. Although they broke new ground, success was not their fate. And so thirty-eight years after the burst of improvisation that was Sandhy & Mandhy, the rest of the world can finally take a taste of their dark, groovy, beat-influenced psychedelia (that fuzz guitar on the excellent Lluvia). At times introspective and acoustic, at others manic and ramshackle in the best way, it1s quite a discovery. Now, on to the presentation‹the highest quality mastering and pressing (done at Acoustech Mastering/RTI in California, the same people who master and press every title that audiophile label Classic Records makes); the resulting LP is housed in a poly-lined sleeve, inside an ultra-heavy 1960's style gatefold jacket, which is housed in a loose-fitting plastic sleeve. Inside the sleeve, you will find an insert with full details on Sandhy & Mandhy, including lyrics in Spanish and English, printed on 100% recycled paper. The LP labels are replicas of the originals. A top of the line pressing all the way. Limited edition of 800 copies. LP $14 SKU:19499

SHOTGUN -Dallasian Rock(Tight, urban blues rock Previously unrel vintage studio tracks from the 1970's) - Label:SHROOMANGEL (USA) A blend of hard hitting riff rock á la early Led Zeppelin and James Gang, with a guitar attack reminiscent of bands like Leafhound or Edgar Broughton Band. Tight, muscular, lean and mean urban blues rock riffage and soaring, soulful vocals, punchy bass and solid drumming make for a memorable set of songs that you won't soon forget. Shotgun had a successful career in and around Dallas, TX between 1974 and 1977, playing the club circuit and recording at the cities best studios. Sadly, nothing ever came of the recording sessions and Shotgun eventually morphed into VIZION, which released an album in 1980 that featured the vocals of Jan Houston. Finally after more than 38 years, Shotgun's long lost studio sessions are presented for the first time ever on LP as they were meant to be heard. The CD versions includes eleven additional bonus tracks. The most amazing thing about these tracks is how they remained on the shelf all these years! •Tight, muscular, lean and mean urban blues rock riffage. •Previously unreleased vintage studio tracks from the 1970's LP $19 SKU:19500
