PLASTIC PENNY - Two Sides of a Penny - 180 gram (UK 60s psych pop)Label:RADIATION DELUXE UK psych-pop group Plastic Penny released this, their debut LP, in 1968 on Kinks' manager Larry Page's Page One label. The opening track, 'Everything I Am' - written by Dan Penn and Spooner Oldham, and originally recorded by Alex Chilton's group The Box Tops - was a #6 hit on the UK charts in early '68. While that was the extent of most of the world's exposure to Plastic Penny at the time, the rest of the album is a glorious slice of orchestral psych-pop with light progressive touches, and in the intervening years it has become a highly sought-after collector's item. Fetching three figures on the online market, 'Two Sides Of A Penny' has moody arrangements, killer guitar work, swirling organ, and hooks galore, along with vocals reminiscent of the aforementioned Kinks' Davies brothers as well as a taste of Joe Cocker. Members of Plastic Penny would go on to greater fame in groups like Cochise, Procol Harum, Chicken Shack, and UFO, while drummer Nigel Olsson went on to be one of the UK's most popular session musicians playing with Elton John, The Troggs, and Rod Stewart, among others. This beautiful piece of late `60s psychedelic pop is reissued in a limited edition of 500 copies on 180 gram vinyl for RSD 2019 LP $22 SKU:21171

PTARMIGAN - ST (hynotic mystical w inserts and photos) Label:LION LION Hypnotic, mystical, largely instrumental tracks, all based on a complex interplay of recorder, hand drums and acoustic guitar—one of those hidden gems that make life better when you discover them all these years later. Ptarmigan recorded the basic tracks for what would eventually become their only album in 1972. It then took the band’s producer and manager, renowned flautist Paul Horn, more than a year to find a label willing to release such unusual music. Finally, in 1974, Columbia Records released Ptarmigan’s album to critical acclaim, and minimal sales. The music of Ptarmigan is deep and authentic and intimate; it's reflective sounds are well suited to meditating on a landscape, an emotion, a bottle of wine, or maybe while staring at a flickering candle. Sometimes it is free-flowing and jazz-oriented; at other times it has the mystical feel of a shamanistic ceremony, fueled by Eastern-tinged harmonies. But in the end, this album is about the sea: Ptarmigan was, after all, from Vancouver Island, and the musicians were well-versed in the contradictory moods of the surrounding ocean. Rated by many as the best "folk/progressive" and/or "folk/psych" album ever made. As one contemporary review said, this is "music from musicians, for musicians, late-at-night, last joint music." Our Lion Productions reissue comes with a massive fold-out insert which includes lyrics, liner notes from the band, and a multitude of photos and historical mementos.•Rated by many as the best "folk/progressive" and/or "folk/psych" album ever made•From the master tapes •Limited second press of 300x copies •Huge insert comes with lyrics, liner notes from the band, and more LP $15 SKU:16108

It's so damn off the radar, rare and elusive that it even eluded the writers of the 'Acid Archives' book. This music has the direct and real emotional honesty of Kenneth Higney crossed with the ominous sci-fi atmosphere of Marcus, boiled down to the essentials, merging a psyched up garage sense of teen discovery with music so uncontrived it naturally delivers hook after hook. SEOMPI-GUNS IN THE SKIES -(the Black Sabbath of Texas, psych rock) Label:CICADELIC RECORDS (USA) “While releasing only three singles in the early 1970's, Seompi's mystique has continued to grow through the ensuing decades. Three posthumous releases issued in the late 1990's only added to Seompi's aura—even though two were off speed and the third has been long out of print. This was the status quo for the past couple of decades until now with the release of "Guns In The Skies". Starting off with the hard rocker "AWOL" and then spacing out with the fourteen minute unreleased opus titled "Synergy Squares", Seompi takes you on a trip back to 1971 when Austin, Texas was the stomping ground for their brand of Psychedelic Space Rock. CD $16 SKU:20309

SHAINS, LOS - Singles 1966-1968 (60s Peruvian garage )- Label:REPSYCHLED Deluxe digipak, master tape sourced CD, all the singles by "The New Shains" finds them in heavier, psychier Jefferson Airplane and Cream spiraled waters. Their version of "White Room" is pretty remarkable, with its Spanish guitar figure adding a texture to the song that just breathes smoke 'n' sweat from a Peruvian night club some lost date 36 years ago. Really, really nice job on this. Booklet includes photos of the master reels, plus detailed notes. Great fuzz, raw sound, a must for any garage or psych head! CD $14 SKU:20200

SHAKERS,LOS Los Ineditas + La Vigencia 25 Originals-Unreleased Tracks: Uruguayan 70s Rock-Label:CIRCOLO DEL DIS two compilations of unreleased and rare Los Shakers material brought together in one place on this disc, amking this pretty essential. The Shakers burst on the scene in Uruguay with a look and sound that got them attention as South America's answer to the Beatles. They soon got a contract with Odeon in Argentina; Odeon brought them to Buenos Aires, where they had incredible success with a single featuring two of their own compositions, 'Break it all' and 'More'. This made the difference. The sound was Beatles-like, but not an ordinary or rough copy, instead a copy of superior quality, superior than many of the foreign singers of that era. Added to this, was the quality of their own compositions, their own songs were of a very high quality. CD $14 SKU:20380

SHORTCROSS - Arising (1972 Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Grand Funk Railroad style)-Label:GEAR FAB AllMusic Review by Stanton Swihart [-]Opening with song titles such as "Nothin' But a Woman," "Wastin' Time," "Suicide Blues," and "Just Don't Care," Short Cross made no secret on their sole 1972 album, Arising of the fact that they aspired to make hard blues-rock like their idols -- Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Grand Funk Railroad -- were creating. Sure enough, the album is a piece of competently played blues-rock. All the bandmembers are quality musicians: the drums fall into a nice groove, the basslines soar and dip, and there is no shortage of good guitar licks CD $10 SKU:18655

SIGHTS- Most Of What Follows Is True (Thin Lizzy, Mott The Hoople and Grand Funkstyle, Kick ass, GREAT RECORD!) Label:ALIVE This is classic rock for modern people – especially those who like the harder sound of bands like Thin Lizzy, Mott The Hoople and Grand Funk Railroad. Awesome opening track “How Do You Sleep” may sound like it was recorded 35 years ago, but it, along with much of the record, transcends any era-trappings. It feels current and it kicks ass. The band wisely re-teamed with old producer Jim Diamond, who is responsible for at least 75% of the best straight-up rock records of the past decade (The Dirtbombs, The Ponys, The Whites Stipes…etc), and he doesn’t disappoint here. As with past Sights records, some of the ballads have an “aw shucks” earnestness that I can do without, but those cloying moments are a small price to pay for the live-wire jolt of the album’s best tracks like “Hello To Everbody”, “Take and Take” and “(Nose To The) Grindstone”. CD $5 SKU:12166

SILENCERS- Cyclerific Sounds 60s style Detroit surf set ala Link Wray, Ventures andDick Dale -Label:TOTAL ENERGY If there is a band that can be presented as the modern heirs of Davie Allan's '60s sound it is Michigan's trio, The Silencers. This album is a one-way ticket out of squareville on a wild ride to a wig-out fuzz fest. Fuzzy guitars, chicks and choppers, is how their get their kicks. Produced by Mick Collins of Gories and Dirtbombs fame. CD $5 SKU:13103

SILENCERS ST 60 style Detroit surf set ala Link Wray, Ventures andDick Dale - Label:TOTAL ENERGY The twistin twangers of the Detroit surf set ala Link Wray, Ventures andDick Dale . SINGING END - LISTEN TO THE MUSIC (1971 rare German psych)-Label:LONGHAIR Originally released in the beginning of 1971 this extremely rare and terrific album is now available for the first time on CD. The six lads from Cologne/Germany played a fine sort of pop music with psychedelic influences similar to the groups on the "Great British Psychedelic Trip", Vol. 1-3 Compilations. Gentle melodies, excellent harmony vocals and rich instrumentation (including fuzz-guitar, flute, organ and occasionally orchestrations) show the musicians great talent and remind to the wonderful late sixties. After The Singing End called it a day, a few members founded Tanned Leather and recorded two albums and a few 7" on the famous Harvest Label. In the late seventies bandleader and composer Rainer Pietsch did arrangements for Queen an ELO. The CD contains the first non-LP 7" as Bonustracks and comes with comprehensive booklet. Great music for all time!!! CD $10 SKU:21101

SLOWBONE -THE REAL ROCK & ROLL SWINDLE (early 70s rare prog/blues/pop/psych) -Label:AUDIO ARCHIVES Comprehensive 24-track CD covering this London rock band's full history from 1971-'77. The material (with sound from the original tapes) encompasses prog-rock, blues, pop, glam, heavy funk and even some post Turquoise influenced psych, and there's a rare Dutch radio interview from 1975. The detailed history in the booklet was written by Pete Sarfas who saw the band live over fifty times in the early to mid '70s, blowing the lid on the explosive story of how some of Slowbones songs, ideas and even logo were ripped off by the Sex Pistols and Iron Maiden. This issue comes with many rare photos and memorabilia splashed across an eye-catching poster sleeve. CD $12 SKU:21102

SMOGTOWN- Tales of Gross Pollution (Beach Punk phenomenon)Label:DISASTER Records Features the previously unreleased early recordings of the now defunct band from '95 & '96. “The final nail in the box of Dana Point's grubbiest sun bleached safety pinned Beach Punk phenomenon SMOGTOWN, whose demise came way too early in my crummy opinion, and meant us folk in Europe never got a chance to experience the mayhem first hand. Bah! Anyways, I've still got all the great memories on compact disc and vinyl to remind me why this bands music gave me such a buzz - no fucking around, snotty and raw self-destructo Punk Rock. "Tales" is a ragged 19track collection of early demo material, that's essentially for anal fucks like yours truly to tie their SMOG collection off.” - Zonked CD $5 SKU:4841

SNAKEGRINDER - And the Shredded Fieldmice (70s psych Grateful Dead style) - Label:OBSCURE OXIDE "Every burg in the '70s that had a steady supply of weed and electricity undoubtedly provided a birthing ground for the formation of bands influenced by the likes of Jerry Garcia and Lowell George, and the Delaware area was no different. What was different was that our subjects-at-hand got it together and in 1977 released an unassuming document for posterity, containing nothing but original, winding (dare we say "snake-like"?) compositions and good vibes throughout. Since then, the album has garnered accolades from the Acid Archives crowd and so we felt the time was right to give the group's efforts a proper (and properly licensed from the band) presentation, with an "old-style" heavy mini-LP sleeve and thick booklet containing pics, gig posters, song lyrics and liner notes by producer and longtime fan GREGOR ALLIGATOR. In addition, we've added a half-hour of unreleased live tracks from the same era, and everything you hear (album and bonus) was transferred from the mastertapes." CD $10 SKU:8709

SNEETCHES & CHRIS WILSON -Flaming Groovies related - ST ( Flamin Groovies related power pop ) LAST COPIES! Label:MARILYN Chris Wilson & the Sneetches is more of a necessity for diehard Flamin Groovies fans than for diehard Sneetches fans, as the San Francisco power pop quartet are simply the backing band here. Wilson, who was the George Harrison to Cyril Jordan's Lennon/McCartney during the Groovies' most British Invasion-inspired phase, is completely in charge here; along with three spirited live renditions of Flamin Groovies classics, "Between the Lines," "I'll Cry Alone," and, interestingly, "Slow Death" (which was written and recorded by the Roy Loney incarnation of the band before Wilson even joined) CD $5 SKU:2360

SOFT MACHINE- Turns On Vol 2 - ( 60s ) Label:VOICEPRINT (England) Second vital collection of archival live Soft Machine recordings from 1967 and 1968. Robert Wyatt's drumming is nearly miraculous, and Mike Ratledge's organ is at its daring and explorative best. Admittedly this is not meant as an introduction to the band for novices, but lovers of the Soft Machine will be blown away by the alternate versions on this disc; they are even more daring than the official releases. Soft Machine (billed as The Soft Machine up to 1969) were formed in the summer of 1966 by Robert Wyatt (drums, vocals), Kevin Ayers (bass, guitar, vocals), Daevid Allen (guitar) and Mike Ratledge (organ) plus, for the first few gigs only, American guitarist Larry Nowlin. Wyatt, Ayers and Hopper had been founding members of the Wilde Flowers, later incarnations of which would include future members of another Canterbury band, Caravan. This first Soft Machine line-up became involved in the early UK underground, featuring prominently at the UFO Club, and subsequently other London clubs like the Speakeasy and Middle Earth, and recorded the group's first single ' Love Makes Sweet Music.’ During July and August 1967, promoter and manager Giorgio Gomelsky booked shows all along the Cote d'Azur, with the band's most notorious early gig taking place in the village square of Saint-Tropez. This led to an invitation to play at producer Eddie Barclay's trendy "Nuit Psychédélique"; the band performed a forty minute rendition of ‘We Did It Again,’ singing the refrain over and over, achieving a Zen-like quality. This made them instant darlings of the Parisian "in" crowd, resulting in invitations to appear on leading television shows and at the Paris Biennale in October 1967. Meanwhile, upon their return from their summer sojourn in France, Allen (an Australian) was denied re-entry to the United Kingdom, so the group continued as a trio, while he returned to Paris to found Gong. The tracks on this disc are drawn from three live performances: tracks 1-5 are from Amerstdam, 10 December 1967; track 6 is from the Middle Earth Club in London, 10 November 1967; tracks 7-14 are from Col Ballroom, Davenport, Iowa, 11 August 196 CD $8 SKU:10918

SOFT MACHINE- Turns On Vol 1 (1967)-Label:VOICEPRINT (England) First vital collection of archival live Soft Machine recordings; these are from 1967, and (unlike “Turns On Vol. 2”) include some studio recordings. Turns On, Vol. 1 catches the newly formed group in their first studio recordings plus live performances in early to mid-1967, all pre-dating the first LP. The lineup on most of the 16 tracks consists of Robert Wyatt, Mike Ratledge, and Kevin Ayers. Daevid Allen appears on four studio recordings. The repertoire draws a lot from the Wilde Flowers' songbook, Ayers, Hugh Hopper and Brian Hopper having written most of the material (Wyatt and Ratledge were only beginning to submit material). Fans will appreciate some of these recordings, especially the first "Clarence in Wonderland"; the 13-minute "Hope for Happiness"; and Wyatt's "Lullaby Letter.” ~ François Couture. Recording information: European Studio (1967); Middle Earth And Speakeasy Clubs, London, England (1967); UK Studio (1967). CD $8 SKU:18998

MINI AGO GO - CDR Cambodian Rocks artists- LAST COPIESLabel:KHMER ROCKS Songs listed in English: tracks by Sinn Sisamouth, Pan Ron, and Ros Sereysothea—the three main stars of Cambodian late 1960’s rock) Several volumes—all CDR’s, as that is the way most music is sold amongst the Cambodian communities worldwide. These discs contain music from artists featured on the “Cambodian Rocks” series of compilations... although in this case, all the text is in Khmer, so good luck finding out what the tracks are called, or who is singing them. The music on these CDR’s demonstrates a much wider variety of styles than you hear on the “Cambodian Rocks” volumes, ranging far beyond the rock idiom into the land of what one might call an Ethiopiques sound, with Latin music, orchestra, and rough folkloric recordings all on display. A treat for the true cultural crate digger... you can’t get more down and dirty—or cheaper—than this. Very limited quantities. COMP CD $5 SKU:20504

PERSPECTIVES AND DISTORTION - VA - Label:CHERRY RED Although “Pillows and Prayers” is the best-known sampler of the label, its precursor “Perspectives and Distortions” (1981) includes many non-Cherry Red artists, which makes it very interesting. In fact, when I bought this compilation in 1981, it was a stunning overview of British experimental 'rock/pop/alterntive' music, played by loads of people I'd never heard of… and a few (like Robert Fripp) that I knew. Time tells us that experimental music can often date really quickly, but most of the music on this comp doesn't. It holds together beautifully, which is surprising because putting arch punks like the Virgin Prunes and Mark Perry in with Kevin Coyne and Robert Fripp, for instance, seems quite out there. Still a lot of names here that I don’t know/remember (A.Tent, the Lemon Kittens), but Matt Johnson (soon to be The The) and Eyeless in Gaza became crucial listening. Listen to it today, and you too might be inspired to check out some new names.” Totally uncommercial music which bordered on the Avant Garde; Outsider Music before anyone thought up the name. PSYCHEDELIC UNDERGROUND- VOL 14 ( 70s psych prog )SAALE -Label:Garden of Delights Still plenty of greatness to unearth in the Psychedelic Underground -- just the sort of tripped-out grooves we've really come to love from this well-priced series! Some of the work here is as heavy on jazzy elements as it is psychedelic ones -- making for a great blend that's a bit more organic at times than you might expect -- a world-ranging approach to the styles that really keeps things interesting, and which nicely breaks past simple cliches of psychedelia. Plus, many of the tracks are of European origin, and from the 70s -- and they've got key proggish elements as well, especially on some of the jazzier numbers. Titles include "Summer 79" by Gravestone, "Arctic Ocean" by Pancake, "Back On My Hill" by Faithful Breath, "Ala Dalona" by Emma Myldenberger, "Question" by Joy Unlimited, "Bolero" by Aqua, and "Where Is Your Home Town COMP CD $7 SKU:8718

PELOMA BOKIOU - ST (underground Greek rock 1972) DBL LP - Label:APS NOVA(Greece) Peloma Bokiou were a short-lived underground Greek rock band that released only one album in 1972 and three singles (1970-71). A recipe for being utterly forgotten, if not for the fact that their sole album is one of the best rock/progerssive albums from Greece (yes, this statement holds true even for a nation which produced tremendous bands like Socrates, Aphrodite’s Child, and Axis). Vlassis Bonatsos ended up becoming a television and film star in Greece, until his untimely death in 2004. This mega-limited numbered edition of 250 copies includes all of the band’s ultra-rare singles tracks too. Great organ and guitar work!" LP $29 SKU:20959

PENTAGON -Die Vertreibung der bösen. (70s German blues prog).Label:GARDEN OF DELIGHTS (Germany): "Pentagon was the first group on the small Munich label German Blues and Underground, which later on also released the two Siloah records. The 7” single was supposed to be followed by an LP, but it never got beyond the dubplate/acetate stage, a kind of demo pressing. A music cassette, however, was released, the simple cover of which was used for the LP cover, too. Although very young at the time, the three musicians already played respectable blues rock. The tracks of side 2 of the vinyl album were taken from the master tape, the tracks of side 1 were digitally decrackled by Cedar’s NoNoise system. It’s a first-class find, saved from oblivion in the very last minute. The title means in English “The expulsion of the evil spirits from the Pentagon”. Limited edition of 1000 numbered LPs. Comes with 8-page LP sized booklet. LP $24 SKU:20883

PEPPERMINT RAINBOW- Will You Be Staying After Sunday (60s BUBBLEGUM Pop ) -Label:REVOLA Baltimore quintet The Peppermint Rainbow scored a U.S. Top 10 hit in 1969 with the super-groovy 'Will You Be Staying After Sunday.' Produced by 'Green Tambourine' hit maker Paul Leka, the album that followed featured 10 more slices of juicy bubblegum pop including a second Top 10 smash, 'Don't Wake Me Up In The Morning, Michael.' The band cut two further singles both added here but by late '69s it was all over as the sound of love faded from the airwaves. First time on CD in the UK for this bubblegum classic. Re-mastered by Norman 'I'll 'ave you Butler' Blake. Liner notes by popmeister supreme Duglas T. Stewart! Lovely packaging by Pepperbox. Essential for all fans of U.S. bubblegum, harmony pop and just plain full-on grooviness LP $10 SKU:18732

PHIL & THE FRANTICS - ST (great 60s garage ZOMBIES STYLE ) LAST COPIES SAALE! Label:VOXX A top draw in their native Phoenix, Phil and the Frantics were basically unknown elsewhere until a 1966 side called "I Must Run" appeared on Pebbles Volume 2 a decade and a half later. Without question, the song is one of the greatest garage ballads ever made. (Discoveries) LP $10 SKU:2135

PIERLE RAY -Time and money (Acid Archive fave 1980 private press heavy guitar) Label:OUT SIDER Released in 1980 as a private edition of 300 copies, “Time and Money” finds outlaw rock hero Ray “McKay” Pierle abandoning the rural rock sounds of his famous “Into You” album for a more hard-rock approach. Twin guitar attacks charged with fuzz-wah and catchy songs full of memorable hooks and melodic vocals. Recorded mostly at Ray Pierle’s home-made studio and mixed by Moe Whittemore at the legendary 700 West studios in Indiana, resulting in a warm, fabulous analog sound.
* Master tape sound
* Insert with lyrics and liner notes
“Among the three records with Ray Pierle involvement, “Time & Money” is the heaviest guitar LP” – Stan Denski (Acid Archives) LP $18 SKU:21140

PIG RIDER -The Robinson Scratch Theory (80s Brit psych GALACTIC RAMBLE fave) DBL LP Label:GUERSSON Bedroom / lo-fi psychedelia by these unsung heroes from the 80s DIY cassette culture scene. From outsider synth-pop to Barrett-esque lysergic folk, from lo-fi garage-punk to basement prog: acid-fuzz guitars, cheap keyboards, primitive electronics, homemade vibe and bizarre, funny lyrics. Pig Rider were formed in Kent, UK, in the late 60s by John Mayes and Colin Kitchener. With the help from some friends they recorded and self-released a series of acetate only psych-folk albums in the mid-70s (“Heterophonies”, “Bloody Turkey Sandwiches”…) which are prime examples of early DIY psychedelic music, highly sought-after since a review of “Heterophonies” appeared on the Galactic Ramble book. In 2013, collector Alexandre Mansuy (from the influential “Somewhere There Is Music” blog), having only listened to their “Heterophonies”album, found John and Colin and was astonished when they told him their story: “Heterophonies” was only one of their many, many great recordings, 22 in all, including 45s, acetates and tapes. Those included complete, and to date unperformed, opera for schools, a song-cycle about Luton, a town they knew nothing about; songs designed to be played backwards, songs which are slightly offensive and others which are too offensive to play at all, anywhere, ever. “The Robinson Scratch Theory”, is a compilation featuring tracks originally recorded between 1980 and 1986 and released as private cassettes. Pig Rider’s sound bring to mind obscure DIY bands like Desperate Bicycles, Instant Automatons or Beyond The Implode but only if those bands knew how to write catchy and well-crafted songs LP $19 SKU:20922

PLEASE A Collection of Demos and Studio Recordings (UK psych,w booklet ,liners & unrel demo)Label:ACME GRAMOPHONE UK A third collection of previously unreleased recordings by this late 1960’s British psychedelic band fronted by Peter Dunton, who went on to form the legendary band T2. Dunton was a key figure in UK psychedelia, founding or playing a key role in many important bands. In brief, here’s Dunton’s pedigree: Neon Pearl (1967), Please (1967) and (1969), Flies (1968), Gun (1969), T2 (1969-1972), and Infinity (1969-70). This release follows on from two other superb albums of unreleased music by Please, "1968-1969" and "Seeing Stars”. The music on "Circus Days" can easily be filed next to that of contemporary bands like Blossom Toes, Forever Amber, Tomorrow, July, and an album which is now lauded as one of the best of the era, "Odessey And Oracle" by The Zombies. "Circus Days" contains such highlights as the original 1969 demo version of ‘Morning,' later to appear on T2’s fabulous "It’ll All Work Out in Boomland" album. There are also some earlier demos including the classic 'Gently As You Feel’ and 'To Dream.’ a track that features additional female vocals. POPPEES -Pop Goes The Anthology ( Great 70s power pop! ) CLASSIC BLACK VINYL -Label:BOMP The Poppees were one of the creators and the embodiment of what soon came to be known as the "Power Pop" sound of the late 70s. This long overdue anthology finally gives this notable and highly underrated band its due, elegantly chronicling the Poppees short but influential role in the history of the New York New Wave scene of the late 70's. While anchored around their two classic Bomp singles, "If She Cries/Love of The Loved" (the latter track produced by Craig Leon of the Ramones fame), and "Jealousy/She's Got It" (produced by Cyril Jordan of the Flamin' Groovies), "Pop Goes The Anthology" features never before released recordings, including demos, early live recordings, and culminating with a rip-roaring live performance at CBGB. It is complete with liner notes and unpublished photos. "After all, what would be more punk at that time than being in the Poppees - a band that emulated the early Beatles, from their moptops to their Cuban heels?" - WFMUFormed in In the mid-'70s in New York by Bob Waxman, Arthur Alexander, Paddy Lorenzo, and Donny Jackrel, later replaced by Jet Harris. PREVOST, GREG "STACKHOUSE”-UNIVERSAL VAGRANT-((Stones,Yardbirds ,NY Dolls style).)Label:MEAN DISPOSITION After a career lasting close to four decades, it was only two years ago when Greg decided to launch his first solo record: the celebrated "Mississippi Murderer”, an album where Delta blues and hi-energy R&R were combined in a masterful mix heavily influenced by the likes of the Stones, the Yardbirds and NY Dolls. This recording has become a cult classic, but the ever adventurous Prevost is now back with a brand new artifact: "Universal Vagrant". This second album goes one step further than his previous waxing and can be safely described as the best recording in his long and illustrious career. It also confirms what those in the know already knew: the fact that Prevost is a top-notch songwriter, one of the coolest R&R singers ever, and that he has a deep understanding of the roots of his music...be them the original blues greats ("Moanin' The Blues", "Mean Red Spider"); the personal idols inscribed in his DNA, Keith Richards and Johnny Thunders ("Gin Soaked Time Warp", "Shot of Rock and Roll", or the superb, gospel-oriented "Lord Shine a Light on Me"), as well as the dark, dangerous Stooges-infused sounds ("Evil On My Mind" or his killer version of "Codine"). Here you have the results: a perfect production, an explosive sound, a recording cooked with ease and among friends, but with edge, attitude and sheer class. This is a first rate R&R album where all pieces fit neatly. No mean feat. LP $14 SKU:18291

PRIMA DONNA- Nine Lives and Forty Fives - YELLOW VINYL - ROCK AND ROLL! Glitter punk Label:ALIVE Born and raised in the San Fernando Valley on a steady diet of punk and glitter rock, Prima Donna are infamous on the LA scene. Their curriculum includes musical road trips with Eddie and the Hot Rods, Adam Ant, Glen Matlock & The Philistines, The Dictators, and even Green Day, who they supported on two arena tours on two continents. Frontman Kevin Preston has also continued participation in Green Day side-project Foxboro Hot Tubs.

While touring the US and Europe, Prima Donna was in and out of the studio numerous times, both at home in L.A. and in Milan, Italy. The finished product is “Nine Lives and Forty Fives”, a 11-song variety pack that displays the band’s skills in the studio, and compiles some of their rarest and rawest recordings, including “Rock and Roll is Dead,” available for the first time in US. The song was named one of the Top Ten Songs of 2013 by Little Steven’s Underground Garage. LP $10 SKU:16433

PRODIGAL SONS -Emerge From The Void (Killer hard rock from 1972) DINGED CORNER DISCOUNT!Label:VOID Killer hard rock from 1972, sounds like a mix of Bolder Damn and Allman Brothers, with maybe a little Feather Da Gamba. Lost music from a lost time. The mystery and music of The Prodigal Sons continues to thrill and mesmerize listeners to this day. Who are they? Where are they? The answers my friend lay in the vault of the Void. An extremeley consistent blend of heavy metal, power-trio hard rock, and some boogie blues driven hard rock, featuring good wah-wah guitar. A great party album, leading one to believe they must have been a truly excellent live act. If you like Wildfire, Tin House and early BTO you will dig this! There's even some British influence (John's Tune, Saga Of Yeti) here. This is a killer throughout, and unknown heretofore." LP $15 SKU:21093

QUICK, BILL - MARAVILLOSA GENTE (70s obscure psych gem) -Label:TIME LAG Pressed on 180 gm audiophile grade vinyl, and limited to 1000 copiesDeluxe LP reissue of amazing little know gem (entitled “beautiful people”) from 1972. Born in Miami to an American father and Venezuelan mother, Bill split the USA and went to Madrid, Spain in the early 70s. Once there, he landed a recording deal with famous producer Alain Milhaud for the Explosion label, and set to work on this, his sole album. Sessions included an impressive cast of players in the studio, including Salvador Dominguez & Chema Pellicó (from Cerebrum), Jess Lam (Jess & James), and Frank Rojas (Sangre). One of the album’s real hidden treasures, though, was the assistance of unknown Texan Mark Gottschall, who co-wrote the title track and adds perfect vocal harmonies as well a second acoustic guitar. The album has an air of mystical psychedelia, and there's a real sun-blasted quality to it all that makes you want to crank the volume. The lyrics (all in English) feel deeply sincere; when combined with Quick’s unique voice, unusual accent, and loose delivery, it makes for one hell of a cool record. Reissued here for the first time, with the collaboration of original producer Milhaud. packaged in a heavy weight gloss coated exact reproduction of the original cover, including the original double sided insert, as well as a huge new full color foldout insert which reproduces at nearly full size the Brazilian version of the album art. Extensive notes by Salvador Dominguez, Mark Gottschall, and Alex Carretero (Guerssen Records, Spain). Art includes rare picture sleeves 45s, promotional inserts, lyric sheets; the LP labels reproduce the original psychedelic full color Explosion label art. LP $15 SKU:19296

RABBLE RABBLE- Composure (PSYCH space trip) SWIRL VINYL -Label:EYE VYBE RECORDS (USA) Rabble Rabble spent nearly a decade building a heavy reputation for raucous basement shows where any attendee will inevitably leave the room drenched in beer and twice as drunk as before. The addition of Kieterang See Jru (also of Strychnine, Plastic Crimewave Syndicate) in 2013 effectively spiked the band's punch with a healthy dose of LSD, and soon their live shows became full on psychedelic space trips, infusing the heavy, reckless garage punk they built themselves on with krautrock rhythms, proto metal edge and a dash of Smashing Pumpkin-esque guitar leads. Composure is a great finale to the trip that was Rabble Rabble. Limited to 300 copies, 12 min/side; plays at 45 rpm; includes lyric insert; pressed on random marble swirl vinyl by gotta groove records. LP $10 SKU:19484

RAINBOW PRESS- There's a War On (68 psych insert with liners ) SALE -Label:OUT-SIDER (Spain) Out-Sider presents the first legit reissue of There's a War On by The Rainbow Press, a cool US '68 psychedelic concept album with all the right moves: solid songwriting, refreshing harmonies, studio effects, organ, fuzz guitar, electric piano, sunshine/baroque touches -- think The Rainy Daze, Strawberry Alarm Clock, The Doors. The Rainbow Press evolved from The Continental Divide, a college band from New York containing members from two previous British invasion groups: The Group and The Specs. They were Bill Yergin on drums, Dave Troup on bass, Larry Milton on electric piano and 12-string guitar, Marc Ellis on guitar, Charlie Osborne on organ, and Joe Groff on vocals. All the members sang vocal harmonies and the twin electric piano/organ action gave the band an unusual and cool sound. In 1968, Audio Fidelity approached them and a contract was secured. The band changed their name to the more groovy-sounding The Rainbow Press and sessions for their first album started at Radio City in New York. There's a War On saw the light in 1968 on the Mr. G label (the "hip" branch of Audio Fidelity). It's hard to believe this perfectly recorded psychedelic beauty was made by college students! Remastered sound; includes insert with liner notes telling the band's story for the first time. LP $15 SKU:16564

RATIONALS--10” Temptation Bout to get Me ( 60s Detroit ) SAALE -Label:TOTAL ENERGY LAST COPIES When serious collectors compose lists of the top shoulda-been-bigger bands of the '60s, the Rationals are often among them. Coming out of the same Ann Arbor, MI scene that gave birth to the MC5 and the Stooges, the group's forte was a sort of garageish take on blue-eyed soul, built around the fine RB-hued vocals of frontman Scott Morgan. Their mid-'60s singles, however, didn't break in many areas outside of Michigan (where they had some big local hits), and by the time they got to record an album, they had long passed their peak.the Rationals actually predated the MC5/Stooges by quite some time, both chronologically and stylistically. When they began recording for the local A2 label in 1965, they were, like many garage bands, heavily influenced by the British Invasion, although they gave their material a more soulful flavor than most similar units. "Gave My Love" was a chart-topper in Ann Arbor (and a hit in Detroit), as was a follow-up single of "Respect" (which predated Aretha Franklin's version). Picked up for national distribution by Cameo/Parkway, it nudged into the lowest regions of the national charts as well.” LP $5 SKU:4220

RAVEN -Who Do You See(1972 hard rock prog)-Label:GOLDEN PAVILION George Phelps who had joined The Carnations met up with Goliath members in a studio and through a myriad of circumstances, teaming up with drummer Robert Wolff (ex "Micah") these musicians merged into Raven in Louisville KY in late 1972 (even though they were all fro Terra Haute, Indiana). From this moment on, the band toured extensively through 24 states non-stop for the next four years before recording this material in 1976, which remained unreleased until today. Soon after the recording was completed, Raven got a record deal with Capricorn records. Two weeks later, Capricorn went bankrupt. The tapes were subsequently destroyed in a fire. Raven was literally like fish out of water, and slowly but steadily what had felt like the beginning of something unique, was lost. Musically the album relies on a hard driving progressive sound with a very rhythmic approach, filled with virtuoso guitar & keyboard solos as well as pulsating bass lines in a hard-rock backing. Think Primus meets Emerson, Lake & Palmer with a touch of Yes, Deep Purple, Rush and Dream Theater. Features Robert Wolff, previously with Micah and currently with Corvus Stone. Limited to 500 copies LP $17 SKU:21072
