NOTICE ABOUT CDS! Most of the BOMP/VOXX/ALIVE/AIP CDS will soon be gone forever. Our former pressing plant accidentally threw away all of our CD booklets and digipacks and the demand isn’t high enough to warrant reprinting for all but a few. Most are still available at a bargain price, but as they run out the prices will rise and then they will be gone, so be sure to go to the LABEL section on the front page of the shopping cart and see what’s left!

In addition to that vinyl repressings are running at 8 months to a year, for all labels all over the world. (It used to be more like 8 weeks!) It’s a disaster for a lot of folks, but we’ll be ok, just less new releases for now.

And if you see some of those “STARBURST VINYL” albums on ALIVE and BOMP that you want, get em NOW. The plant that did those is out of business and the guy who knew how to press those is gone. There wont be any more, ever. Prices will be going up soon as they go out of print.

COUNTRY FUNK -ST (1970 psych/blues/country) Label:SLIPSTREAM First released in May 1970, Country Funk's debut was a confident and heady mix of psych, blues rock and country rock. Despite achieving little success in their day, 40 years on the "Funkers" are now highly regarded, finally achieving the credit that they were originally denied. The 'Country Funk'-LP was released in May 1970 after a few name and line up changes, plus a short prison sentence. At the album's heart lie the influences of Buffalo Springfield, Poco and a dose of hairy Byrds, Moby Grape and the Dead. Although not a classic, this loosely groovin' but tight collection of songs moves along nicely with genuine heart and soul." Country Funk's debut has been newly packaged with extensive liner notes, unpublished photos and 4 unreleased bonus tracks, and four 1967 cuts from earlier outfit ADAM including the superb Bee Gees like 'Woman' (later covered by Pure Prairie League) and the trippy 'Melrose Street 5829' (which easily rivals anything Emitt Rhodes cut around this time). COYNE, KEVIN- Sugar Candy TAxi (rare U.S. release) -Label:RUF Kevin Coyne is a strange one. As influenced by the rough-and-tumble sounds of Mississippi blues as by his job as a counselor to London drug addicts, he arrived in the '70s with a cawing birdcall voice and a collection of songs about madness, guilt, and despair. Heavily influenced by the Moody Blues and early King Crimson, Grandfather was recorded in mid-1970 and issued by the tiny Square Records in February 1971, but was only pressed in a total quantity of 1000 copies. This definitive release is taken from the original master tapes, and adds five superb home demos recorded around the same time as the album by guitarist and chief songwriter Chris Baker. DOMNICKS - Super Real (Stems DM3 Someloves)Label:CITADEL digipack Their debut album Super Real marks a coming of age for The DomNicks. Forged by Perth based Dom Mariani and Nick Sheppard, the band is a powerful blend of swagger 'n' roll rock, soul and pop smarts. Mariani is best known as the driving force behind The Stems, DM3 and The Someloves, while Sheppard's pedigree boasts 80's Bristol punks The Cortinas and thereafter as Mick Jones' replacement in the 1983-86 line-up of The Clash. The one proper album the band released in its lifetime, All Black and Hairy is both perfectly named and perfectly performed -- if it's nothing but a re - All Black & Hairy LTD ED of 150 CLEAR BLUE VINYL! (60 style Classic cave garage ) -vivalist approach at heart, it's such a damn entertaining one that there's no cause for complaint. With its title track taken from the appropriately goonball back catalog of Screamin' Lord Sutch and its general snot-mouthed attitude from every last Nuggets and Pebbles selection ever, about the only thing missing are the lava lamps and garage stink. Saying the band uses the right combination of fuzztone guitars and echo and heavy frug rhythms is a bit like saying the sky is blue -- it's just one of those things to be expected -- but the sheer energy and abandon present keep everything from simply retracing the past to no point. Leighton's credit is for "lead screaming," and that about sums it up -- he's not so much singing as pulling off the ultimate teen-wannabe-Mick Jagger performance, only even more aggressively snotty. Ted Friedman's lead guitar solos with the right rave-up spirit and John Hanrattie keeps the core melodies going, while the Tom Ward/David Anderson rhythm section aims to get rears shaking instead of sitting. The album is half split between inspired originals (check out the concluding "Stoneage Stomp") and actual songs from the time, the latter resulting in fun versions of tracks like the Uncalled For's "Do Like Me" and Larry & the Bluenotes' "Night of the Phantom." About the only thing missing is the original studio recording of the band's best number, "It's Spooky," but anyone wanting a quick blast of '60s punk thrills filtered through later years could do much worse than to dig this one up.
