ELVIS COSTELLO- THIS YEARS MODEL-digipak- sealed Label:Hip O With his second album, Elvis Costello firmly established himself as one of rock's--not just punk/new wave's--premier singer-songwriters. Building on the promise of his '77 debut, My Aim Is True, Costello put together a backing touring trio, the Attractions (keyboardist Steve Nieve, bassist Bruce Thomas, and drummer Pete Thomas), and their versatility helped Costello define himself as a punk-fuelled power-pop force. Sporting influences ranging from Bob Dylan (the stream-of-consciousness "Pump It Up") to Burt Bacharach (the Dusty Springfield-worthy "Little Triggers"), this '78-released collection also features such righteously angry anthems as the anti-conformist "This Year's Girl," and the anti-MOR classic, "Radio Radio." --Billy Altman CD $10 SKU:25885

Archive copy previously owned by either the owner of ALIVE or BOMP Standard two CD pressing. Digitally re-mastered edition of this 1975 album by the legendary British hard rock quartet. Certified 16x platinum in the U.S., the commercial success of Physical Graffiti was equaled by it's critical reception. Generally regarded as one of the greatest double albums of all time, the original 15 tracks represent a creative tour de force that explores the band's dynamic musical range, from the driving rock of 'Custard Pie' and acoustic arrangement of 'Bron-Y-Aur Stomp' to the Eastern raga of 'Kashmir' and funky groove of 'Trampled Under Foot.' CD $10 SKU:25882

MC5- Back in the USA Label:RHINO NOTE: UNSEALED but mint disc. Archive copy previously owned by either the owner of ALIVE or BOMP Some of the most exciting music made in America at the end of the 1960s came from Detroit, thanks to bands like The Stooges, The Alice Cooper Group … and the MC5. The “Motor City Five” had already kicked out the jams on a live album before heading into the studio with producer Jon Landau to see if they could capture their high-energy attack in a more controlled setting. The resulting 1970 album, BACK IN THE USA, answered that question with a resounding “yes.” Along with nods to rock's raucous past (like the Chuck Berry-penned title track) and the MC5's revolutionary roots (“The American Ruse”), the set provided a template for the punk rock to come with such driving songs as “Tonight” and “Shakin' Street.” Packed with incendiary power, BACK IN THE USA was named one of the 500 greatest albums of all time by Rolling Stone. CD $10 SKU:25889

MC5- High timesLabel:RHINO NOTE: UNSEALED but mint disc. Archive copy previously owned by either the owner of ALIVE or BOMP . The MC5 would have been rock legends if they’d only offered up their classic “Kick Out the Jams” and then disappeared forever, but as it happens, they continued recording beyond that immortal track and released other material as well. High Time was the band’s second studio album and third overall release, and while it wasn’t what you’d call a commercial smash, it has remained a critical favorite and, indeed, was described by Rolling Stone as “the first record that comes close to telling the tale of their legendary reputation and attendant charisma.” Unfortunately, it was also the last record the band would release during their heyday, owing to various personal problems in the various members’ lives, but with songs like “Sister Anne,” “Baby Won’t Ya,” and closer “Skunk (Sonicly Speaking),” it’s still an absolute must-hear for anyone who’s ever had an interest in the MC5, CD $10 SKU:25888

MC5- Kick Out The JamsLabel:ELEKTRA NOTE: UNSEALED but mint disc. Archive copy previously owned by either the owner of ALIVE or BOMP. CD reissue of the 1969 LP. MUDDY WATERS After The RainLabel:CADET CONCEPT The second of two electric-blues albums released on Chess Records and Cadet Concept imprint in the late 60s, Muddy Waters' After the Rain has achieved cult-like status amongst blues fans in the years since his death in 1983. After taking a backlash from critics with first attempt at adopting psychedelic influences on Electric Mud, Muddy made adjustments for the follow-up, despite keeping a majority of the same session players. This time, he toned down the psychedelic elements and put them in balance with his classic Chicago blues sound, and the results yield some vintage tracks that glow with fuzzy guitars and bass: "I Am the Blues", "Ramblin' Mind", "Bottom of the Sea", and "Blues Trouble." After being out of print for years, Get On Down is proud to present this rare classic from Muddy Waters pulled from the original masters and presented in an attractive digi-pack. CD $15 SKU:25881

RESTOCKS REMINDERS AND SAALE

BACKBITER - Rolled (Guitar player from the Freeks drummer from Clawhammer )Label:BLUE MAN FROM URANUS Backbiter's exhilarated debut Get Together is a collection of emphatic and distinct songs that nod to punk's alliances with R&B, as well as the screamy male emoting of late-'70s rock. Guitarist/vocalist Jonathan Hall delivers original and articulate lyrics on seven of the nine cuts, most notably on the melodic "Get Together" and "Rolled," released as a coveted single by Blue Man from Uranus (and co-written with bass player Heath Seifert). Spattered with competent, even magic acoustic moments, Get Together is a great record for remembering that in punk'n'roll, drums mean everything, thanks to a typically brilliant (and mercifully unburied) contribution by Claw Hammer's Bob Lee. 45 RPM $5 SKU:25323

BACKDOOR SOCIETY -ON THE RUN (Brit freakbeat/Outsiders influenced) Label:HYPNOTIC BRIDGE “On the Run” is a tribute to the wild British Freakbeat and R’n’B sound, inspired by the Pretty Things and many other underground bands from the UK garage beat scene of the mid Sixties.

“Ballad of a Liar” is a personal homage to The Backdoor Society’s favorite Dutch Beat band, The Outsiders, and their unforgettable frontman Wally Tax. The song is strongly inspired by The Outsiders’ classic “Touch”. 45 RPM $10 SKU:24522

FORD’S FUZZ INFERNO - Deniers of Fuzz Will Be Executed -SAALE!Label:SUBUNDERGROUND This release marks the surprising return of Dutch singer and guitarist Hans F. Ford, following nearly 17 years of silence! Never mind his previous lo-fi/psych project Ford's Imaginary Inferno, 'cos with Ford's Fuzz Inferno he revisits his punk roots! (Hans was a member of early '80s hc-unit Waste and '90s freak punks Betty Ford Clinic.) For the occasion he is joined by his friend Patrick Delabie (a.o. Scoundrels, Betty Ford Clinic and owner of the renowned Studio 195) on drums. The duo's super explosive debut-EP offers five short, ultra catchy blasts that bridge the gap between fuzzed-out garage-punk and early hardcore. And as a bonus there's an almost 3-minute freak-noise jam! This limited DIY-style edition comes with white labels, a paper inner sleeve, a plastic protection bag and a folder cover featuring artwork and lyrics.
"Musically, imagine Mudhoney at their fuzzed-out best, in a snotty, sneering collision with the Angry Samoans... trust me, it works really well. This is a great record and you really need to hear it!" - Fear And Loathing (UK online fanzine)
"This release manages the tricky ability to sound both classic/vintage and at the same time, contemporary and vibrant. It's fast, moderately heavy and catchy as fuck." - Issue (#114 - UK punkzine) 45 RPM $10 SKU:24724

PERMANENT GREEN LIGHT - Enormous Highs (psych tinged power pop)Label:HYPNOTIC BRIDGE Michael Quercio, Matt Devine, and Chris Bruckner have reunited to bring the Permanent Green Light sound into the third millennium. After the release of the band’s 2018 Omnivore Recordings retrospective and well-attended reunion shows in Los Angeles, the band began work on new material. Once extensive rehearsals and study of texts prescribed by Bruckner were complete, the band entered the studio in early 2020 with Earle Mankey, the legendary producer who recorded PGL’s cult classic Against Nature, as well as celebrated psychedelic records by Quercio’s Paisley Underground band The Three O’Clock (Sixteen Tambourines and Baroque Hoedown). “Enormous Highs” b/w “Silver Girl” on Hypnotic Bridge Records is the first release debuting songs from PGL’s work in progress on an envisioned concept record currently underway.

Originally born out of the Los Angeles Jabberjaw coffeehouse scene in 1991, Permanent Green Light’s psychedelic pop sound soon found itself at the top of Rodney Bingenheimer’s playlists and sharing bills with Redd Kross, Teenage Fanclub, and The Muffs. By the time of PGL’s dissolution in 1994, the band had released records that may have fallen out of print but were never forgotten by devoted fans, including the Against Nature LP and contributions to compilations such as Freedom Of Choice: Yesterday's New Wave Hits As Performed By Today's Stars. Fast forward to 2018 when premier US reissue label Omnivore Recordings released the band's retrospective Hallucinations, with Ugly Things magazine declaring Permanent Green Light as “the unsung power pop greats of the decade… what every band on Creation should’ve sounded like.” 45 RPM $10 SKU:24419

BAINS, LEE - There is a BOmb in Gilead (Gram Parsons, the Allman Brothers, Muscle Shoals, early Skynrd, Canned Heat, Creedence and all that Southern boogie goodness, digipack CD - Label:ALIVE Hailing from Birmingham, Alabama, LEE BAINS III & THE GLORY FIRES are the latest accomplished outfit to emerge from Alive Naturalsound. "There is a Bomb in Gilead" – which is a lyric of a traditional spiritual about the salvation of the soul (the “balm”, not “bomb”) that Bains misheard as a child – incorporates some of the most iconic regional styles of American music. With a nod to Jim Ford, Gram Parsons, the Allman Brothers, Muscle Shoals, early Skynrd, Canned Heat, Creedence and all that Southern boogie goodness, "There is a Bomb in Gilead" sees Lee Bains III & The Glory Fires deconstruct the music of the Deep South, strip it down and reassemble it, to make a righteous ruckus that sits at the vanguard of the vernacular. ( NOTE - CD and lp have the same tracks. ) CD $5 SKU:13826

BEAT BOYS - ST ( Brazilian 60s pop-psych , 20 page booklet and rare singles track) - Label:LION Laden with torrid psychedelic moments (released by RCA Victor in 1968), as well as a rare singles track from the same year. A 20-page booklet includes lyrics, and an exploration of the Beat Boys’ fascinating story. .Along with Os Mutantes, the Beat Boys represented the most radical element in Brazilian rock: their name, clothes, hair—and intense fuzz guitar raves—were all fierce indicators of a rebel spirit, and this in a dangerous time for such self-expression. Here is the simple truth: The Beat Boys were at the very epicenter of the cultural revolution that convulsed Brazil during the late 1960’s, that movement of rupture, that bringing together of electricity and avant-garde erudition that has come to be known as “Tropicália.” They backed Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil for their defining moments as artists—both live, and in the studio on tracks which became the opening Tropicalist salvo (a rare EP). So, what were this group of Argentine rock musicians doing in the forefront of all things outrageous in Brazil? More to the point, why is it that very few people, even among the Brazilian music cognoscenti, have ever heard of them? One explanation must be the fact that the band were essentially outsiders to the Brazilian music scene. As unlikely as it was for them to penetrate the inner circles of Brazilian elite musicians (it was unlikely), it was even more unlikely that they would remain there once their closest friends, Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil, were exiled from Brazil. This disc includes the Beat Boys entire output under their own name: their sole album—an exercise in what one might call “controlled Tropicália”,“Caetano called the Beat Boys, an Argentinean group settled in São Paulo who had been inspired by the Beatles, to accompany him in ‘Alegria, Alegria.’ That, in fact marked the beginning of the Tropicalista thing.” —Gilberto Gil CD $12 SKU:23494

COSMIC MICHAEL-ST PLUS After A While (rare 60s mayhem ) - Label:GEAR FAB One of the strangest albums you will ever hear. In 1969 and 1970, Cosmic Michael released two bizzare albums of unknown origin. A cross between A CId Symphony & The Unfolding!! CD $10 SKU:13697

CROOKED OAK -FROM LITTLE ACORNS GROW(reissue of rare 1976 release)-Label:SEELIE COURT 380 copy limited edition first pressings in mini card gatefold sleeves, from Glass Masters (not cdrs)
Crooked Oak is one of the very few folk bands who imbued their songs with mystery, power and grandeur. The combination of Steve Evans' sonorous voice and haunting Irish pipes convert the songs into a beautiful mystical experience. So to describe Crooked Oak as 'acid folk' would be misleading, instead it is a deep, profound work of art, lifted by superb vocals and wrapped in a sense of mystery. The band channel the music, tradition, heritage, and the magic that still courses through Sainted Albion's blood soaked lands. Originally released in 1976. CD $19 SKU:24802

CYNICS -16 FLights Up (garage ) - Label:GET HIP The Cynics’ second is pure psych/fuzz garage rock, buoyed by marvelously cheesy organ work and hooky Sunset Strip simplicity, just reeking of The Seeds and Standells MORE INFO ON SITE CD $10 SKU:13646

DRUIDS-Burnt Offering( 1969 acoustic folk) -Label:ATOM The Druids were a superb acoustic folk quintet formed in 1969, who started a little too late to achieve the major popularity of outfits like Steeleye Span and Fairport Convention, although they were very well respected across the UK. The cover design, containing The Wicker Colossus of the Druids (depicting a scene like something out of the denouement to The Wicker Man), showed that the group meant business, and they had the musical smarts to back it up. There's not a dull or predictable moment here, whether they're singing of lust (‘The Cuckoo's Nest’), plague victims (‘Gabriel John’), or romantic woes (‘The Butcher and the Parson'), as well as a straight acoustic rendition of one version of ‘A Sailor's Life,’ a song that became something of a concert standard for Fairport Convention as an extended electric piece. Itinerant fiddler Dave Broughton joined them, and in 1970, while appearing in a documentary film about English folk musicians, they met fifth member Judi Longden, who added her voice to the proceedings. With their reliance on acoustic instruments, the Druids were far more tradition-based than either Fairport Convention or Steeleye Span. Their repertory consisted of traditional English, Scottish, Welsh, and Irish songs arranged for four voices, and their music had a pleasingly archaic feel, not resembling folk-rock at all. If anything, they sounded more like the kind of outfit that A.L. Lloyd or Ralph Vaughan Williams (editors of the definitive collection of English folk songs) would have approved of, without a trace of uncalled for elegance or pretentiousness. Burnt Offerings is the first time on CD and deserves to be out there sharing a piece of Folk history that allows the world to see how it is done. CD $12 SKU:24840

ELEGY -ST (1972 prog monster)Label:SEELIE COURT 380 copy limited edition first pressings in mini card gatefold sleeves, from Glass Masters (not cdrs)
Lost 1972 heavy prog monster by British band who became the house band in Vienna's underground music club Electronic. With a sound like Jethro Tull meets Marsupilami vibes with manic flute and heavy prog guitar, and at times a King Crimson intensity. CD $19 SKU:24803

EVOL - ST digipack (1970 Byrds style) -Label:GEAR FAB One of a kind acetate recording from an obscure West Virginia band. FREE DESIGN -Stars/Time/Bubbles/Love (1970 soft psych with a dose of funk! )Label:LITA Originally released in 1970 on Enoch Light’s Project 3 label, Stars/Time/Bubbles/Love served as The Free Design’s turning point: mixing the group’s timeless elements of soft-psych with a dose of funk! In the words of Free Design historian Robbie Baldock, “Stars is where The Free Design gets funky”! As an added bonus, the CD version includes the previously unreleased track “To A Black Boy”, an undiscovered studio gem from circa 1970 and composed by Chris Dedrick. Plus, the 1970 single version of “Butterflies Are Free”. CD $10 SKU:24188

GREAT CRASH - DEADFIRE ECHOES (70 rarity Elton John/ 10CC style) Label:SEELIE COURT 380 copy limited edition first pressings in mini card gatefold sleeves, from Glass Masters (not cdrs)A genuine masterwork that sounds like a lost classic. This album from The Great Crash includes exquisite songwriting with piano led art rock that conjure the best of early melancholc Elton John and 10CC, recorded in an abandoned mansion in Wales. Put put into modern hands, some of these songs could become hits. Others are so poetically English they may appeal only to those with a certain sensibility and frame of reference. When The Great Crash gradually left their Mansion after decades there, it became Loco Studios, where the the ghosts of the Great Crash's songs swirled unknown around The Verve and Oasis as they recorded their 90's masterpieces. CD $20 SKU:24925

JUJUS - You Treat Me Bad 65-67 (60s garage psych PEbbles style ) Label:CICADELIC RECORDS Since their arrival on the music scene in 1965, the mystique of The JuJus and their lead singer, Ray Hummel, has continued to grow over the ensuing decades (helped along by the inclusion of 'You Treat Me Bad' on the first volume of Pebbles in 1979). Their first single 'You Treat Me Bad' rose to the number two position on the top 40 and catapulted the band to regional fame in Michigan. The JuJus initially blended an impressive brand of folk-rock and British-invasion sounds with a raw garage band sound. In 1967 they opted for a more psychedelic sound. Compiled on this CD are all the JuJu singles, as well as a plethora of unreleased gems from 1965 to 1967. A detailed booklet contains photos, radio surveys, band memorabilia, and a retrospective of The JuJus as related by band member Rod Shepard. MCCULLY WORKSHOP INC-ST(S. African 60's psych KINKS, YARDBIRDS,PRETTY THINGS style ) Label:FRESH Excellent debut album (the first of four albums by this group), a real rarity, originally issued on Trutone in South Africa in 1969; a great album with an early Pretty Things vibe. I absolutely don’t understand everyone saying that this record has a heavy Sgt. Pepper influence (for example, The Psychedelic-Music.com website had this to say about the record: "Of all the albums we've heard from South Africa this one scores top! What a beautiful masterpiece. Pepper-influenced underground music with great songs, lovely vocals, strong harmonies, great distorted guitar work."). Even the band say that the “Inc.” album shows a variety of styles and influences, including The Beatles, Frank Zappa and Pink Floyd. “'Sgt Pepper' was very important, as were the pop charts at the time”, recalls Tully. Another big influence, according to Tully, was The Moody Blues 'Threshold Of A Dream' which was released in April 1969. That’s fine and well, but to me, it sounds like psych blended with R&B; it’s loaded with garage punk tunes—great songs, with strong harmonies and super distorted guitar-work; booklet includes liner notes about the album with quotes from the band about this, their stellar debut.
CD $14 SKU:25114

TROYES - Rainbo Chaser-Complete REcordings (67 psych)- Label:CICADELIC RECORDS The Troyes exploded onto the music scene with 'Rainbow Chaser' a regional smash hit that climbed to number 3 on the top 40 in September of 1966. Sensing a new phenomenon, famed bandleader Ray Anthony (who already had smash hits with 'Dragnet' and 'Peter Gunn') signed the group to his new rock label Space Records. His faith in the band was so big that nearly two albums worth of material were recorded at United Sound (Detroit) in 1966 and 1967. Unfortunately, only two singles were issued and the rest of the material was never released. Now for the first time ever, all twenty-four of The Troyes' recordings are compiled on one album. The recordings range from far-out psychedelic to unhinged fuzz and farfisa garage to moody haunting sounds. Included with this album is a detailed booklet of rare photos, radio surveys, newspaper articles, and Troyes memorabilia CD $10 SKU:19761

CD $10 SKU:21813

UMBRA - ST(Brown ACid 70s heavy)Label:LION Umbra’s story is that of a band from the early 1970’s who recorded what they wanted to record: heavy, heavy music from the start of the “American Comedown Era” as we’ve seen it described by our friends for their “Brown Acid” series; a band whose music, terrific though it is, has never to this point been released out into the wide world. The tracks are hard-edged and heavy, verging on acid rock at times. Makes sense, as Umbra was a power trio most of their too-brief existence. Yet the songs (heavy though they are) have a deft touch. Spacey intros and weird effects were created by recording guitar licks, then re-recording them played backwards at double speed. There is an utterly refreshing category-free approach to writing songs that makes Umbra’s music exciting to hear. Comes with a 16-page booklet, with lyrics, photos, plus interesting and funny things that can only happen to musicians, and did to Umbra. CD $14 SKU:21740

UP - Killer Up! ONE ONLY! (uneleased. 1967-1973 MC5, BLue Cheer style) Label:Total Energy The Up is one of those "should've been" bands. Similar in sound to Blue Cheer and political philosophy to MC5, Killer Up represents the complete recordings of the Detroit band from the '60s. Save for two singles, none of this material was released by the band while it was still together between 1967-1973. The Up was closely aligned with MC5, living with them in the White Panther Party commune in Ann Arbor and often sharing the bill with them at area concerts. But while the Five and fellow Michiganders the Stooges got record deals and fame, Up remained a regional act.The disc features both of Up's singles, plus several songs from a recording session at Head Sound Studios in Ypsilanti, MI, and some live cuts recorded at the Agora Ballroom in Columbus, OH, in 1972.High volume cuts like "Just Like an Aborigine" and "Free John Now" are further examples to back up the argument that punk rock was invented in '60s Detroit. It's hard to imagine Up gaining a mass audience, but the music on this disc makes one wonder why the band never broke on a large scale outside of the Midwest. CD $50 SKU:22397

VAGRANTS-I Can't Make A Friend 1965 - 1968 (The band that inspired The Ramones.)Label:LITA The band that inspired The Ramones.Official collection of all the band’s singles recorded for such labels as Southern Sound, Vanguard, and ATCO. VIDA-ST (80s style SST all star band)Label:BLUE MAN FROM URANUS Vida Review by Jack Rabid An SST all-star band, Vida is guitarist Dez Cadena (Black Flag's third and last singer before Henry Rollins) teaming up with Minutemen/fIREHOSE drummer George Hurley (plus guitarist Tom Troccoli out of Tom Troccoli's Dog and bassist Bill Bowman). Notably, they're named after the fourth LP, Vida (1989), by Cadena's in-between band, DC3. As with DC3, and later-era Flag material with Cadena on second guitar, that unfortunately means sludgy, distended, and capacious '70s hard rock guitar complete with soporific solos. It's up to Cadena's unnerving voice (his quiet intensity) and Hurley's speedy, rat-a-tat work to save this CD, and songs such as "My Cup Is Half Full" show some life. Those into the later-'80s SST sound will love this; all others avoid like mad cow disease CD $10 SKU:25257

WAKEFIELD - Lost Warthog tapes (1969 Colorado psych )Label:GEAR FAB This psychedelic rock band from Pueblo, Colorado formed in 1969 and continued to play all over the Northwest until their breakup in 1974. The band recorded a concept album for Warthog Studios in Denver from 1971-72. CD $10 SKU:21735

WARLOCKS- ST (Spacemen 3, Elevators style) SALE - Label:BOMP Records Debut EP CD. Amazing band, think Velvets, Spacemen 3, 13h Floor Elevators. “On its six-track debut, this L.A. band seems to exist in a kind of opiated haze, redolent of Spacemen 3, a heavier Velvet Underground, and (I suppose) the Jesus and Mar Chain. Occasionally things get a bit more wired, as on the awesomel rollicking "Cavemak Rock." Bomp supremo Greg Shaw is known to be a big fan of these guys, so they'd get my vote even if they didn't have the class to close their album with a 12-minute, 35 second workout entitled "Jam of the Warlocks." - The Big Takeover CD $5 SKU:22945

WAVES OF FURY - Thirst (encompasses everything from Motown & Stax to The Stooges, Clah, Spiritualized & The Mary Chain.)Label:ALIVE Thirst’ is the debut album from Somerset based Waves Of Fury. This 10 track debut long player sees Carter Sharp (vocals), Bim Williams (horns), Fil Ward (guitars/vocals), James Macphee (drums) and Jamie Bird (pianos/ vocals) take up the rhythm & blues blueprint and filter it through a 40+ year historical path that encompasses everything from Motown & Stax to The Stooges, Clah, Spiritualized & The Mary Chain. It’s a sonic blast of an album, and a welcome breath of fresh air. ‘Thirst’ was recorded at PJ Harvey’s studio in Bristol.

"Scuzzy proto-punk in the vein of Iggy Pop morphing into a Motown-beat driven garage track. Sounds like a mess; but this isn’t impossibly cluttered, it’s impossibly good. All bursts of horn and screeching vocals – it sounds like a forgotten gem from the Ace Records catalogue, but it’s brand new." – Nicholas Burman / Artrocker

"They have found a way to reconcile their twin passions: Stooges and Stax, garage and soul, rock’n'roll’s trash aesthetic and the exuberance and jubilation of old-style R&B." – The Guardian

"Has a Rolling Stones swagger… it’s like Steppenwolf jamming with The Commodores and is every bit as magnificent as that alliance should be." –å God Is In The TV

"An unholy alliance of scowling, snarling vocals, sleazy guitar licks, Motown horns, and high octane percussion." – The Mad Mackerel

"A full assault on the senses. Lou Reed, Iggy & The Stooges, the New York Dolls influences are clear. A sonic treat!" – Blast 1386

"WOF really don’t sound that much like anyone else. The closest comparison is probably to the jazzier numbers on The Clash’s London Calling, but this is far, far weirder. Lead single ‘Businessman’s Guide to Witchcraft’, manages to tie soulful piano and razor-edged horn stabs to raging, spitting vocals and noisy guitar – it sounds improbable and unpleasant, but, incredibly, it works wonders." – The New Thing CD $5 SKU:14633

WAYGOOD, OTIS BLUES BAND-Ten Light Claps And A Scream(1969 acid blues from South Africa)Label:FRESH One of the lost treasures of EMI-Parlophone’s heavy rock catalog, the third and final LP from South Africa’s Otis Waygood has finally been presented on its own, thanks to the folks at Fresh Music. Originally released in 1971, Ten Light Claps and a Scream smacks of the influence of England’s heavy psych movement, particularly the rumble of such bands as Bloodwyn Pig and the Groundhogs. Otis delivered the rock with a little more bite, thanks to the band’s unbridled devotion to the blues and the killer production of South African rock mavens Julian Laxton of the South African prog group Freedom’s Children and Johannesburg-born, UK-based record executive Clive Calder. Laxton made plentiful use of his famous "magic box": a kind of phasing/echo machine he'd built and used on stage with Freedom's Children. Any fan of old, loud, trippy acid rock from the Vietnam era would be wise to check out this onetime collector’s item from one of the era’s great, unsung acts. This version includes all the original songs and a rare 1977 bonus track, plus updated liner notes and some newly discovered photos.

WEIRDOS - Destroy All Music (1977 Los Angeles punk legends) w booklet- Label:BOMP 30th Anniversary Edition - The Weirdos were in many ways the greatest of L.A.'s punk bands. In early 1977 their mighty sound and singular style were the big-bang igniting the L.A. punk rock scene, as they proclaimed "we're not punks, we're weirdos from Hollyweird!". This wasn't just goofy sloganeering, this was a stance intended to distinguish them from the burgeoning punk rock scenes in New York and London. The Weirdos were not only bringing a new sound and writing teen punks anthems, they were also responsible for their graphics (posters, covers, flyers) and designed their own clothes! Their 1977 Bomp single "Destroy All Music" was a nihilistic anthem, and is now regarded as a classic, and by the time they made their mini-LP two years later they had turned into a powerful, polished band, without losing any of their outrageous attitude. "Destroy All Music - 30th Anniversary Edition " compiles the now classic 1977 EP Bomp and the 1979 "Who, What, When, Where, Why?" mini-LP in its entirety and includes previously unreleased early demos. Comes with a 12 page booklet with photos and liner notes. CD $10 SKU:22947

Recorded by the ever-reliable Lo’ Spider at Swampland Studios, the studio tracks feature tasty band originals as well as covers of The Pack, The Penetrators, and The Cigarettes. Dig in, ’cause we KNOW you’re gonna love it! Comes in jewel case with four-page booklet, with artwork by Matt K. Shrugg. CD $14 SKU:25422

WITCHPIT- THE WEIGHT OF DEATH (high powered stoner rock)-Label:HEAVY PSYCH SOUNDS Witchpit is a four piece sludge metal band from South Carolina whose unorthodox approach pushes the genre in exciting new directions. Their sound fuses the influence of high powered stoner rockers like High On Fire with the more moody and thoughtful work of Neurosis. With a heavy dose of tone worship and a passion for vintage gear, the band is able to conjure up classic tones that serve to bring the sound to an exciting new place. This is their debut album. WOODEN LION -ST (unreleased 70s heavy psych )Label:AUDIO ARCHIVES On CD, here's one of the rarest previously unreleased heavy psych album from the early '70s UK underground by the original five-piece band. Painstakingly re-mastered from the only surviving acetate, you get long, tripped-out tracks with an early Hawkwind feel, toughened by dark vocals that combine to make this a cosmic-doom classic. Highlights include the atmospheric 'Ice Maiden', the spaced-out 'She Paints Strange Pictures' and their notorious tour de force, the lengthy three-part 'McAlistairess Phantoms'. Plenty of rare band shots, items of memorabilia and detailed sleeve notes included in this long lost forgotten classic. CD $10 SKU:21108

YAYS & NAYS- ST- ( 60s garage 6 stars in Pokora book!) MINI LP SLV - Label:GROOVIE SPAIN "Monster rare USA private pressing from 1968, rated with 6 stars in the Hans Pokora 3001 book. The Yays & Nays were a groovy, hip group comprised of three guys and three girls. This is a truly unique sounding album, full of creative songwriting and vocal arrangements and a style that defies any categorization. There's some fab garage folk-rock on it (the opening track 'Gotta Keep Travelling' is really astounding!), and also some tracks in a bizarre crooner-lounge 'Incredible Strange Music' vein. Reissued for the first time, in collaboration with band members, and with original artwork." CD $10 SKU:14713

The Young Sinclairs are a rock 'n roll band and they have been engineering and producing their own recordings in their hometown of Roanoke, Virginia since 2005, led by chief singer/songwriter/instrumentalist Samuel Lunsford. Their album 'Out Of The Box' is a prime example of innate desire for creative expansion and innovation. The album title itself refers directly to a quest for freedom, and a refusal to be confined to any specific style, form, or label CD $15 SKU:22129

EMBER POP 69-74- VA Rainy Day Mind ( 60s ) -Label:FANTASTIC VOYAGE Rainy Day Mind” is the first of two volumes surveying Ember’s pop repertoire from 1969 until the label’s demise at the end of the seventies. It comprises 21 tracks by artists ranging from obscure American singer Polly Niles to the internationally famous P J Proby, as well as ill-fated actor Alan Lake, Irish vocalist Lee Lynch, French pop star Black Swan and fuzz guitar-toting soul band Milt Matthews Inc. A clutch of projects including The Good Vibrations, The Good Ship Lollipop and Rusty Harness came to Ember courtesy of producer Mike Berry. The founding of US outlet Paramount-Ember in 1974, headed by music business veteran John Madara, brought albums by Denny Doherty (formerly of The Mamas And The Papas) and British all-girl glam rockers Mother Trucker into the fold. What these disparate sources all offer are fine performances of strong songs. Nor is there any shortage of collectables, topped by Davey Payne & The Medium Wave’s ‘A Walk In The Sunshine,’ which commands £50, and Blue Beard’s eponymous album, which only reached test pressing stage (£200), from which we have salvaged ‘Baby I Need You.’ Nice shrink-wrapped slip-case packaging COMP CD $10 SKU:16376

OUR LIVES ARE SHAPED BY WHAT WE LOVE - Motown's Mowest Story 1971-73-LAST COPIES! Label:LITA First ever Mowest anthology.Lovingly re-mastered from the original tapes. Extensive liner notes and photos. You know the old saying, “Go west, young man”? Well, it’s far from cliché. Over the years, some have hit the road in search of Hollywood’s glitz and glamour, others, simply for warmer climes, but in the early 1970’s, Detroit-native and Motown founder Berry Gordy Jr. brought his musical family to the left coast, one piece at a time. He began by launching the Mowest subsidiary in 1971, a new L.A.-based label dedicated to coastal grooves and an eye towards the top of the charts. COMP CD $10 SKU:24193

THE WHOLE ENCHILADA - -3 LP set w 70 page book! A deluxe multimedia package detailing the history of Desert Rock from 1976-1994Label:San Jacinto Records From the mind of Rich Hopkins, co-founder and guitarist of the Sidewinders/Sand Rubies and one of Arizona’s most accomplished rock ’n’ roll exports, comes THE WHOLE ENCHILADA: The History of Desert Rock 1976-1994. This whopping three-LP + 70-page book + access to film multi-media set, a who’s-who anthology of Tucson, Arizona’s musical trailblazers — and its woefully overlooked — arrives in April from the San Jacinto label.

Painstakingly compiled, THE WHOLE ENCHILADA is a veritable Tucson musical family tree, leading us from from the mid-1970s through the mid-1990s, from the swoony Bob Meighan Band and the honky tonk of the Dusty Chaps (both whom signed to major labels in the 1970’s) to international indie giants Green On Red (Serfers), Howe Gelb’s pre-Giant Sand 1970s electro-rock band Giant Sandworms, Naked Prey, Al Perry and The Cattle — as well as Desert Rock breakouts The Sidewinders, Yard Trauma, Black Sun Ensemble, and many more.

With varying styles covering honky tonk, power-pop, country and cow-punk, fusion, punk rock, eclectic and art-damaged, amped up bluegrass, blues and straight up sunbaked rock ’n’ roll, the album is full of pleasant surpirses (unsung country great Ned Sutton, for example), collectible rarities, popular numbers and outright gems you’ll wonder how you ever missed.

Accompanying the three-record set is a 70-page companion book with rare photos, obscure histories and anecdotes, and dozens of biographical essays by many of the artists themselves, plus others by writers, journalists, photographers and deejays, placing the reader centerstage at Desert Rock’s halcyon days — compiled by Tucson natives Brian Jabas Smith and Douglas “Fini” Finical.

In addition, this set includes a code that allows fans to view the 30-minute Whole Enchilada documentary, featuring a handful of stars and coulda-shouldas who are included in the LP/book project, helmed by film-fest winning director Maggie Smith. For those familiar with the era and area, one listen will recall the tangy scent of monsoon-drenched mesquite trees; dark, top-down drives to Mexico; the murky interiors of neglected old-man-bars-turned-music-venues and all their jovial inmates. JAHN, LOTHAR -Dreams of 75 (1975 psych/Krautrock) blue swirl Label:LION Lothar Jahn’s "February '75” single was released by the German label Sound Records in 1977. It was a very unusual record, somewhere between psychedelic, folk, and Krautrock. It was reviewed thus on Discogs: “A mysterious journey through Cosmic Psych Folk Kraut, whatever you may call it. Fantastic, from beginning to end. Another Kraut on 45 milestone.” The newly recorded album, “Dreams of ’75,” is an extended riff on the original single, taking that smaller vision as a starting point and then launching into a weirder and wilder psychedelic/progressive stereoscopic headspace than was evident (or possible) on the original single. Lion exclusive: 150x hand-numbered copies on Transparent Blue w/Black Swirl vinyl
•Comes with an 8-page booklet giving Jahn’s thoughts on his life and the dreams which provoked this album.
•Includes the bonus track ‘Merseburger,’ recorded with Olaf Casalich, the singer of famed German band Ougenweide.

“One of the greatest hard rock albums of all-time.” —The Acid Archives

•Considered by many to be perhaps the best independent U.S. heavy rock release of the 1970’s!
•Includes insert with history of the group, lyrics and rare band photos
•High quality vinyl reissue of this hard rock monster from 1976 by legendary underground power trio led by guitarist BillyLee Janey

A total heavy sonic assault! Since the release of “No Rest for the Wicked’s” in 1976, it's stature among collectors of 60’s and 70’s hard rock and psychedelia has grown steadily over the years, with original copies now fetching large sums. Originally formed as Truth in 1969 in Iowa, USA, Truth & Janey was named after a record by Jeff Beck. Between 1973-75 they played thousands of gigs, many with Leslie West, as well as playing with Blue Öyster Cult at a festival in Davenport, Iowa in front of 20,000 hard rock fans. All the while, Truth & Janey were writing original material, gearing up to record their first full length album. In 1976, they laid down the tracks that would see release on their stunning “No Rest for the Wicked” album later that same year. The record featured six original tunes and two traditional blues covers revved up in true powerhouse Truth and Janey fashion. Only 1,000 copies of the album were pressed on the local Montross records. Just as the ball started rolling, it all ended, as Denis Bunce left the group and quickly thereafter they completely disbanded. In a last ditch effort, guitarist Billy Janey reformed the group with all new members in 1977 and released the “Just a Little Bit of Magic” album, but it was a move in a completely different direction and has little to do with the ferocious hard rock Marshall 100-watt super lead guitar sound that dominates “No Rest for the Wicked.” "Not to be dismissed because of its underground status, Truth and Janey's only LP, No Rest for the Wicked, was another incredible find... Boasting a swaggering, bluesy grit, piercing twin-harmony licks, and the most righteously ferocious rhythm guitar tone this side of Ted Nugent, opener 'Down the Road I Go' instantly establishes the band's '70s hard rock aesthetic whose roots, not surprisingly, lie in English giants like Cream, Jeff Beck, and even more so in Rory Gallagher's Taste." —AllMusic. TRYAD-IF ONLY YOU BELIEVE IN LOVIN'(1971 acid folk)Label: DEL VAL Last copies of this 2014 reissue of this excellent acid folk album. Del Val Records present a reissue of Tryad's 'If Only You Believe In Lovin'', originally released in 1971 as a private press. Ultra-deluxe LP reissue on the recently resurrected (and sadly now defunct) Del Val label, the obscure but legendary label previously responsible for early and collectible vinyl editions by The Brigade, The Bachs, Bent Wind, D.R. Hooker, Fifty Foot Hose, etc. Long overdue and much delayed reissue of this NYC private press few have heard and less have seen. Comparable to the best UK folk-fusion LPs of the era, this is like a Yankee version of Hunter Muskett's great 'Every Time You Move' (1970), with co-ed vocals plus bass/drums/pedal steel/flute/keys accompaniment. Consider this East Coast haunted not West Coast hip, though you'll be reminded of a certain revered private from out there that wouldn't exist for another five years: Relatively Clean Rivers. Comes with a four page lyric insert, and the cover is what they were made like fifty years ago, this one is a heavy duty, very excellent Stoughton tip-on jacket. LP $15 SKU:22511

Save for two singles, none of this material was released by the band while it was still together between 1967-1973. The Up was closely aligned with MC5, living with them in the White Panther Party commune in Ann Arbor and often sharing the bill with them at area concerts. It's hard to imagine Up gaining a mass audience, but the music on this disc makes one wonder why the band never broke on a large scale outside of the Midwest. VELVET ATTACK -VISIONS FROM INNER SPACE (60s based popsike)Label:SOUNDFLAT Velvet Attack are a '60s based indie-rock-group from Dortmund, Germany formed in November 2018 to play velvet popsike melodies boosted by prog/kraut educated guitar approach. The five members have been part of different musical projects (Jelly Planet, Damo Suzuki Band, Astra Kid, The Cheeks), which is reflected in their multi-layered, refined sound. On one hand, they stick to the classic combination of jangling Rickenbacker sounds with fine vocal harmonies as presented by groups from the past, let's say from The Byrds to The Bangles but on the other hand their rock attitude is rooted with punk prototypes to psychedelic from the sixties. LP $25 SKU:25727

VIITH TEMPLE-- Under The Burning Sun(late 70s hypnotic psych prog)-Label:FEDERAL GREEN Recorded in late '70s Ontario, just prior to the synth-punk masterpiece by their alter-ego, Drama, this is a heady stew of hypnotic psych prog pomp, coupled with bashing drums and mystical and magickal lyrics. Each song swells as it progresses, reaching a frenzied climax, drawing you into the same place out of time this was birthed in. WELDERS- OUR OWN ODDITIES 1977-81 (all-female punk pop )Label:BACHELOR The Welders were an all-female punk pop band from St. Louis, MO. Formed by four young, teenage women in 1975; they started playing shows in 1976, in one of the toughest climates to get booked for bands playing original material. The Welders bonded over their love of The Monkees, The Beatles and early glam rock. The comedy of the National Lampoon Radio Hour and the Marx Brothers were just as big of an influence. The Welders played several shows in the St. Louis metro area and eventually caught the attention of a local photographer and newspaper owner. He financed a recording session in 1979, with plans to release a four song EP. The newspaper folded before the release could happen, and all that survived was a cassette copy of the recordings. The Welders continued for a couple more years after recording the EP. They had brief line up changes, and added an organ which shifted their sound more towards a '60s garage pop sound. They were ahead of their time again, pre-dating most of the neo-garage explosion of the '80s. By 1981, the band had moved on to other interests. In 2010 BDR Records (a sub-label of Rerun, designated for St. Louis area artists) issued that previously unreleased EP. The EP was well received worldwide and has been sold out for several years. This collection includes a newly remastered and improved version of the 1979 EP tracks, along with other studio, rehearsal and live recordings. The fold-out digipack is filled with amazing photos of the band. LP $24 SKU:24971

Featuring raw fuzz guitar, Vox Continental organ sounds, a healthy dose of feedback and influences from The Who as well as Black Sabbath and tough bluesrock, WHITE LIGHT didn't spread the message of The Lord in church, but at loud clubs and big rock venues. In 1972 the guys were finalists in a talent contest organized by Melody Maker magazine. The band's album includes the side-long title-track which has to be heard to be believed. In Hans Pokora's '7001 Record Collectors Dream' guide 'Parable' has been given the maximum rarity scale rating. This reissue includes an insert with liner notes and photos. LP $25 SKU:23551

WHITE LIGHtNING -Thunderbolts of Fuzz - (Brown Acid stars 60s heavy psych)Label:RIDING EASY Standout favorites of RidingEasy Records’ Brown Acid compilation series, White Lightning’s stellar discography of rare and under-appreciated heavy psych, proto-metal rock gets a vital revival for new generations to learn how swinging, swaggering and often blazingly fast rock’n’roll is done.White Lightning was formed in Minneapolis, MN in 1968 by guitarist Tom “Zippy” Caplan and bassist Woody Woodrich after leaving garage psych band The Litter (themselves popular standouts from the Nuggets and Pebbles series of garage rock rarities.) Originally a power trio, the band later expanded to a 5-piece in 1969 while shortening its name to Lightning. The quintet’s brilliant and rare 1970 self-titled album on Pickwick International’s P.I.P. imprint provides 6 of the 10 tracks on Thunderbolts of Fuzz. The original White Lightning trio only released one 45-rpm single “Of Paupers and Poets” during their existence (on local Hexagon label in 1968, later reissued by major label ATCO Records in 1969.) A long out-of-print posthumous album released in 1995 gathered unreleased recordings, 3 of which are found here. This rounds out this collection of recorded highlights from the band’s rocky history.
