DIMENSIONS-From All Dimensions- from Acid Archives: “Celebrated Chicago frat-garage LP that's also one of the real rarities of the local mid-1960s LP scene.Label:COLLECTABLES from Acid Archives: “Celebrated Chicago frat-garage LP that's also one of the real rarities of the local mid-1960s LP scene. For those who find the North-East preprock LPs too lowkey this is the remedy - a solid party mood similar to the Raider's best albums with some Stones thrown in. The tape splice in "Mary Lou" derives from the original LP, apparently. A solid dose of mid-60s fun, all covers naturally.” Or, as someone nearer to the band said: “This Chicago 60's group is what Garage Bands are all about. From the high energy Them hit, ‘Gloria’ to the sexy, melodic ‘Mary-Lou,’ this group plays them rockin’ good. I especially liked their cover of the Roger Higginbotham's ‘Hi-Healed Sneakers.’ The Dimensions were not just another garage band. There was something special in the way they played together. They played gigs during the mid 60's in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago at places like The Hut, Green Onion, and the Deep End. Listing to this album takes me back to hot, summer Friday nights, stuffed onto the dance floor with hundreds of hot sweaty teenagers, having a great time listening to great music, dancing and just having fun.” Typical garish Collectables label packaging, including the omnipresent small drill-hole—but long out of print. GUESS WHO - This Time Long Ago- two-CD collection of rare and unreleased 1967-1968 recordingsLabel:RANBACH In the CD era, the catalog of the pre-"Wheatfield Soul" Guess Who has been very hard to come by. This two-CD collection of rare and unreleased 1967-1968 recordings fills that gap well. A few of these songs appeared on non-LP Canadian and/or U.K. singles, like the devastating garage punkers 'It's My Pride’ and 'If You Don't Want Me'; the sappy 1967 ballad 'His Girl,' heard here in two versions, which was actually a minor British hit; 'Flying on the Ground Is Wrong,' one of the first (if not the first) covers of a Neil Young song; and unbelievably awful versions of Steve Lawrence’s 'Pretty Blue Eyes,' recorded by the band in an attempt to get their label to release them from their contract. ('Croyez-Moi,' an awkward French version of their 1966 single 'Believe Me,' appears for the first time here.) Most of this set is devoted to unreleased material, recorded in 1967 and 1968 in the studios for CBC TV shows — devoted to late-'60s originals that find the band starting to arrive at their own hard pop/rock identity, including early versions of four songs apiece from "Wheatfield Soul" and "Canned Wheat." The standouts are early versions of 'These Eyes' and the Doors-ish psychedelic suite 'Friends of Mine,' which includes contributions from members of the Winnipeg Symphony and some free jazz sax near the end. A CBC version of the single 'When Friends Fall Out' (later to appear on "American Woman"), which alternates between grinding riffs in the verse and contemplative balladry on the bridge, saw Burton Cummings start to fully form his tense, belting vocal style. There's a sense of a band fishing for a style throughout much of this anthology, not always successfully, but it documents an important transitional phase in the group's evolution.” —a more cogent version of the AllMusic review CD $10 SKU:26702

YOU AINT GONNA BRING ME DOWN TO MY KNEES -Strafford/Right Record Story (1965-1969)Label:COLLECTABLES New England in the 60’s series release. Right and Strafford were two fantastic labels from New England. Their singles are impossibly rare and have been sought after by collector’s for years.. This exciting collection of songs reflects the influence of the British Invasion groupos like the Kinks, the Rolling Stones, and the Yardbirds. Later releases reflected the influence of American groups like the Young Rascals, the BUckinghams, and the Iron Butterfly. Not to be missed! Out of print CD with small drill hole. RESTOCKS

BELLA WRECK-ST (power-pop hooks/garage punk)Label:HEAVY MEDICATION POLISH IMPORT Sydney-to-Berlin transplant Dave Thomas and his German comrades combine Radio Birdman riffs and New York Dolls swagger with power-pop hooks and a jolt of Detroit high-energy, yielding hot, saweaty and fun rock & roll the way the gods meant it to be. Listening to this album is like unearthing a stack of killer lost Australian garage-punk 45’s from the 80’s. If you're into Oz bands like the Lime Spiders, Eastern Dark, and The Hitmen, you are going to LOVE this album. CD $14 SKU:25419

BELLADONNA -Night Shade (Texas metal/hard rock 1990)Label:SHROOMANGEL Obscure Melodic Metal/Hard Rock band from Texas — featuring Robert Hampton from Hooker —with a shelved album forgotten since 1990. The tape with the album songs was rescued recently to digital treatment and added a few bonus tracks from rough demos. All of this material was recorded between 1989 and 1990. Belladonna was formed in January of 1989. By that winter the band had moved to Nashville for a production deal that went sour. The experience inspired the writing of 'Watching You,' 'Power Surge', and 'Once Again.' Upon returning to Houston the band began playing out, getting radio airplay, gaining a strong following, and by the summer of 1990 recorded a live video concert for the TV show Metallurgy. By the fall of 1990 the song 'Once Again' caught the ear of Rick Chavez (producer and leading member of the band Drive (Rampage/Rhino Records) leading the band to be courted for a recording deal. Tensions had been brewing towards the latter part of the year and the band inevitably split up with Mike and Rude leaving for Los Angeles to record 'Once Again' for Drive's "Diablero" album and eventually join forces with Drive. File Under: Melodic Heavy Metal, Glam Metal, Hard Rock. For fans of: Seduce, Odin, St. Elmo's Fire and World War III. (LIMITED TO 300 COPIES - TEXAS ROCK DYAMONDS SERIES) CD $12 SKU:24723

BLUE CHEER -7 (1979- Rare look at the world’s first Heavy Metal Blues band!) Label:SHROOMANGEL A new limited edition TEXAS ROCK DYAMONDS series of small press-run CD releases Raw, heavy, and straight to the point—a rare and wonderful glimpse of Dickie Petersons Blue Cheer. Produced by Eric Albronda and Jim Keylor. Recorded at Army Street Studios in 1979. "Blue Cheer 7 represents a rare look at the world's first true Heavy Metal Blues Band during a late 70s reincarnation which was closest to the sound of their original great success with "Vincebus Eruptum," their million selling debut. "In 1972, the late Dickie Peterson, walked out of the studio after announcing Blue Cheer was finished, after punching his drummer in the mouth for trying to make him drink carrot juice. Despite a glowing review of their sixth LP, "Oh! Pleasant Hope!" by Lester Bangs in Rolling Stone, the band's demise was swift, and about as loud as one hand clapping. Peterson, by his own admission, struggled for years with drug and alcohol abuse, but wasn’t ready to give up on his band. In 1974, an association with Kim Fowley could not get the revamped Blue Cheer lineup a recording contract, though the demos they made together were quite good. Five years later, Dickie had another go at it, briefly enlisting guitarist, singer and songwriter Tony Rainier (whose older brother had been a Cheer roadie before dying in Vietnam) and drummer Michael Fleck." Packaged in a luxurious 6 panel digipac includes expanded artwork and seven additional bonus tracks not on the LP version! CD $12 SKU:24719

BOSSMEN - Personally Yours: The Complete Anthology w liners, rare photos, booklet. -Label:LION Liner notes by Dick Wagner + reflections on the Bossmen by Bo White and Ryan Sparks ,Massive color booklet with rare photos, Limited to 500 copies. Dick Wagner and his guitar. The Frost. Ursa Major. Lou Reed's "Rock 'n' Roll Animal". Alice Cooper's "Welcome to My Nightmare". Kiss. Aerosmith. Peter Gabriel. Wagner's contribution to rock 'n' roll is immense. And it all started a little bit north of Detroit with the Bossmen. In just three years (1964-67), The Bossmen amassed an impressive run of no less than eight regional number one singles. When you listen to these eighteen original compositions you can sense the long hours and the countless amount of blood, sweat and tears that went into creating them. Whether it's a stinging guitar solo (the sonic blast of an intro on 'Sunshine' comes to mind), a regal four part vocal harmony or a soaring arrangement, each tune bears the distinct early characteristics of the ‘Wagner’ sound that would later bring him success on a global scale and write him into the annals of rock ‘n' roll history. "I look back on the days of The Bossmen with a sort of reverence. These were my first days of recording my own original songs, entering the concert scene and learning the basic trials of making it in the music business. I get chills even today just thinking back on the two or three block line that formed every time we played our home town venue, Daniel’s Den. The Bossmen were the heroes and purveyors of the primal Rock energy for that angelic group of screaming youth. MAN… those were the days!" —Your Boss man, Dick Wagner • Liner notes by Dick Wagner + reflections on the Bossmen by Bo White and Ryan Sparks CD $10 SKU:15879

CHAMELEON- Rising (70s Texas)-Label:SHROOMANGEL a new limited edition TEXAS ROCK DYAMONDS series of small press-run CD releases "Beginning in the early 1970’s and continuing until 1980, this relatively unknown band from Houston managed to record a stunning collection of songs that are the musical expression of the word Chameleon. Twisting and turning, changing colors, leaping out of your speakers at times with unbridled ferocity- this band will hold your attention throughout the 70+ minutes contained on this disc. Musicians Spencer Clark (guitars, vocals), Mike Huey (drums), Craig Gysler (keys, vocals), and Rick Huey (bass) rounded out the mid 70’s line-up with a key change being made later in 1978 with the addition of Marty Naul (Oz Knozz) on drums. The band’s sound and style reflect the artists they listened to and loved yet at the same time they managed to craft their own unique tones. One may hear reflections of Peter Gabriel era Genesis, Canterbury heavyweights Camel, King Crimson, Dixie Dregs, and Eloy in their music (emphasis mine)." •Previously unreleased vintage studio tracks spanning 1976 to 1978 •Chameleon to be featured in an upcoming edition of Progression Magazine. CONCRETE RUBBER BAND -Risen Savior(Official reissue of this insane underground basement psychedelic rock album, a massively-rare 1974 release)Label:HIDDEN VISION BIzarre burbling electronic embellishments find unity with abundant fuzz guitar, organ, and male and female lead vocals. A very strange rock album (in the best way), which just happens to have religion as its subject. "Official reissue of this insane underground basement psychedelic rock album, a massively-rare 1974 release on the Missouri-based American Artists label (AAS1164), of which only two or three copies are known to be exist in private collections. The song titles reveal the Christian undercurrent, but don’t be put off by that (if such a thing would be off-putting for you): this is a very strange and unusual rock album which just happens to have religious undertones, replete with organ, fuzz guitar, male and female lead vocals and masses of electronic embellishments—arguably more akin to Debris or Intersystems than anything else. The label says this about it: "Some of the most ‘out there’ psychedelic sounds can be found on this Kansas trio's mega-rare custom LP. The song, ‘Christian,’ for example, opens with a Bach fugue before laying in its steady rock beat punctuated with subterranean wah-wah guitar and a wild, heavily modulated lead. The song, ‘Wicked,’ opens side two with a bizarre amalgam of what sounds like synthesized, bubbling lava pits, frequency oscillations, distorted, sci-fi vocals and shortwave, static patterns. This is psychedelia at its most underground and extreme, with all the ear marks of a bad drug trip which, given the songs dark subject matter, works just fine. Likewise, ‘What Shall We Do?’ opens with a lengthy outpouring of some of the most vicious, distorted, fuzz guitar ever then relaxes into a spooky, dream-like ballad before it climaxes with a flying saucer effect that sounds straight out of Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side of the Moon.” There are several fine and moody garage tracks here as well. The overall impact is difficult to describe: the songs are highly listenable and quite creative. Dense echoes add to the homemade feel of the entire project. Duncan Long, the main man behind the synths, guitars and song writing is now a published science fiction author, which explains a lot, we think. CD $10 SKU:26057

GENESIS (COLUMBIA)- S/T (70s rock/psych)-Label:SONDOR This Genesis comes from Columbia, and its a shame they used such a common name, as their music is absolutely unique! Founded by Humberto Monroy (ex-Speakers) in the very early 70s, they released a bunch of lps, of which this is the second one. This same titled album, their second, was recorded in March 1974 and released by Famoso (a Codiscos sub-label). Unusual and charming sound in the folk, rock & psychedelic veins, but always with a wonderful Andinean folk feel. Most of the tracks are written by Humberto but the more famous number included on the album, which received a lot of radio airplay in Columbia at the time, was a chilling cover of "Como decirte cuanto te amo" by Cat Stevens. Also, the psychedelic sounding "Don Simon" was probably their major success.. This is the first ever reissue , and comes with a nice booklet w/linernotes and pictures, and great remastered sound. CD $14 SKU:25673

HANDS -Caviar Bobsled (70s style prog) -Label:SHROOMANGEL "Hands was originally active back in the '70s, but time and circumstances didn't see them acquire a great deal of success back then. They reformed in 2001 however, and have been a going entity ever since. "Caviar Bobsled" is their most recent studio album, released in 2015 via the US label ShroomAngel Records. The music is deceivingly and subtly complex though, so it really needs a few spins before it will settle with you.” —Windhawk, ProgArchives. "For those who have followed the band, their blend of Gentle Giant, Kansas, Camel, and Happy the Man styled prog remains intact, and there's some truly fabulous material here on Caviar Bobsled. There have been a lot of great prog albums released in 2015, and Caviar Bobsled is certainly one of them. Holding back a bit on the bombast, this latest Hands offering combines intricate prog with lush folk and a touch of jazz-fusion for a sound that instantly tickles the senses and keeps you coming back for more. A truly gorgeous album that I can't recommend highly enough!” —Sea oftranquillity .org CD $10 SKU:24721

HERON, MIKE-Smiling Men With Bad Reputations (1971 rock solor debut)Label:TALKING ELEPHANT Heron's 1971 solo debut, released while he was still a member of the unique Incredible String Band (ISB). But this is NOT a folk album; it’s a rock album, and it rocks along very well. CD $14 SKU:24881

JOSEFUS --Not Dead Yet (Texas hard rock Unreleased 1978 Studio Sessions & Live)-Label:SHROOMANGEL Josefus are part of the first wave of Hard Rock bands formed in the end of the 60s, being the true pioneers of Heavy Rock in Texas. Their Dead Man album is one of the greatest American Hard Rock albums of the early 70s and deserves all the cult status it has been given all these years. The band resurfaced in the late 70s and then again in the late 80s, recording sporadically never abandoning their Bluesy Hard Rock roots. In the new millennium when everyone was thought the band was history, Josefus hits the stages again and keeps to this day active. This collection of rare material starts with 4 demo tracks from 1978, plus selected live cuts (mostly from 2012), where we can see the power of the band revived and refreshed after 5 decades of existence.Presented in a 6-panel Digipak and limited to only 300 copies! Second in the Texas Rock Dyamonds Series. File Under: Heavy Rock, Blues Rock, Southern Rock, Psychedelic Rock. (LIMITED TO 300 COPIES - TEXAS ROCK DYAMONDS SERIES) CD $14 SKU:24717

KHAZAD DOOM-Cherry Town (60s garage-psych Label:HALLUCINATIONS A brilliant album of fantasy Beatles-esque garage psychedelia and organ-driven psych/prog, recorded prior to Khazad Doom's legendary' "Level 6 1/2” album. In 1964, the band who was later to be called Khazad Doom started to dream of ‘making it’ in Bob Davis’ basement in Morton Grove, Illinois. After twenty-nine members and multiple names (The Vibratos, The Laymen), three musicians and a ‘Crow,’ they formally became Khazad Doom and the legend was born. Khazad Doom made a name for themselves during the early 70's with their unique style of progressive rock music, metaphorical lyrics, and stage presence. Their music was driven by pumping bass lines, dynamic Hammond swells, and multi-dimensional guitar work. On top of that, three of the four musicians contributed to beautiful three-part vocal harmonies, and counterpoint. CD $10 SKU:24710

MANDHYLON -Negra ciudad(68-70 Argentine blues psych)Label:LION From the ashes of the mythical Argentine duo Sandhy & Mandhy—who recorded in 1969 the intensely rare and beloved album “Para Castukis” (reissued by Lion Productions on vinyl and CD), a record suffused with beat and psychedelic influences—comes this resurrection by Mandhy of his "Celestial Stories." Alberto Vanasco Jr. (Mandhy) resumes his musical tale with twelve tracks written between 1968 and 1978. Recorded with the analogue essence and sound of the 70s, using vintage instruments like Farfisa and Hammond organ, and fuzz guitar. Features Argentine rock legends Nexus as the backing band. A record which brings together all of the various crucial elements of Argentine rock music: psychedelia, heavy blues, classic rock, and progressive rock. Stunning CD $15 SKU:24763

NAZZ- 13th and Pine (60s early Rundgren )Label:Renaissance Records A collection of odds and sods, rarities and obscurities, "13th & Pine" is designed for the obsessive Todd Rundgren collectors out there, and, in that sense, it satisfies, since there is a lot of weird, unheard music here among the generous helping of seventeen tracks. Alternate mixes, instrumental backing tracks, out-takes — all recorded between 1968-1971. For those of you who don’t know, the Nazz was an American rock band formed in Philadelphia in 1967. They were founded by guitarist and principal songwriter Todd Rundgren and bassist Carson Van Osten. Drummer Thom Mooney and vocalist/keyboardist Robert "Stewkey" Antoni joined before their first concert, opening for the Doors in 1967. "The Nazz met in the hipster hangout/pick-up spot of the late ‘60s: Rittenhouse Square. The two blocks between 19th and 21st were "the only place where everything happened," says Antoni. "It was the two-block Mecca for longhairs." Antoni met Rundgren, who was then in a band called Woody's Truck Stop. The Nazz quickly formed, and the band crammed into a one-room apartment at 13th and Pine. (This album of previously unreleased Nazz material, is named 13th and Pine after this location.)” Sealed CD. CD $10 SKU:23539

RICH HOPKINS & LUMINARIOS - Buried Treasures-Label:SAN JACINTO "If Neil Young released Buried Treasures, it would be hailed as a return to form. And when Drive-By Truckers evidence similarly unselfconscious immediacy, we praise their ability to inhabit characters. But Rich Hopkins is for real, a regular guitar-toting guy who grew a conscience in the Peace Corps, cowriting his best songs to date with his hair-salon-owner girlfriend, Lisa Novak. The Tucson troubadour’s 28th studio set offers Crazy Horse-style workouts and plangent psychedelic feedback jams, but, as shown by the bleakly beautiful Friend of the Shooter, they are increasingly engaged with the southwest’s dark underbelly." —Stewart Lee

"It’s a wonder Rich Hopkins finds the time. When not playing with the Sidewinders or the Sand Rubies, he remains the prolific and creative backbone of The Luminarios. This time around he’s turned the guitars up again for a psychedelic mash of band jams and slow-burning grooves best typified by the brooding, elongated epic, Friend Of The Shooter, which sits well in Hopkins’ canon of storytelling songs. Outta My Head (Outta My Mind) is the flip side to Hopkins’ denser jams with its 60s pop rock feel, while Strutter glides along on a colourful swell of organ with Lisa Novak’s chiming vocals bringing the chorus to life. It seems churlish to not mention the extra disc (A Long Walk Home) too, a set of field songs from Hopkins’ time spent with the Peace Corps in rural Paraguay, both scratchy demos and studio recordings and all with a charm of their own." —Classic Rock CD $12 SKU:25060

SANDALWOOD-CHANGELING(1971 folk /rock holy grail)-Label:SEELIE COURT LTD ED OF 300 Originally released in 1971 in an edition of only 50 copies, all of which were handed out to friends, this UK folk-rock holy grail sees its awaited reissue on vinyl. Featuring two girls (on vocals and guitar) and a male bassist, Sandalwood played utterly beguiling fairy-like folk rock. Genre addicts will adore this LP. CD $19 SKU:24761

STEVENS, MEIC - Outlander (1970s Welsh Bob Dylan)-Label:Ye Elde Folk Musique Celtic 60s folk-psych, singer/songwriter cult hero, sings & plays guitar with incredible angst, passion, intensity and anguishOn the slightly more psychedelic-influenced front, there are some similarities to Donovan and (more distantly) Syd Barrett. Trance-like raga-rock elements make themselves heard on 'The Sailor and Madonna' and ‘Yorric,' with their sitar, tabla, and zigzagging flute. Some tracks with ethno-psychedelic sitar sounds other with heavy bass, drums, electric guitar. This CD version adds two songs from a 1966 demo as bonus tracks. CD $10 SKU:24337

SUPREME JUBILEES--It'll All Be Over (California gospel-soul)Label:LITA If God had a disco, the DJ would be playing California gospel-soul group The Supreme Jubilees. “We won’t have to cry no more,” the tuxedo-clad group would sing, in high, angelic vocals over smooth grooves. “It’ll all be over.” Prepare to dance and contemplate death all at the same time. A band of brothers and cousins, the group was founded from two families: brothers Joe and Dave Kingsby plus Dave’s son David Kingsby Jr., and keyboardist Leonard Sanders plus his brothers Phillips (drummer), Tim (bassist), and Melvin (tenor). The Sanders clan grew up singing together in the Witness of Jesus Christ church in Fresno CA, where dad Marion was pastor. Guitarist Larry Price–who belonged to neither family–completed the line-up that recorded the group’s first–and, prophetically, only–album, It’ll All Be Over. Released in 1980 on the group’s own S&K (Sanders & Kingsby) label, It’ll All Be Over pinpoints a fatalistic mood exemplified by the title. Its lyrics drawn from the Old Testament, its sound from the church by way of the disco, and it’s a feel captured by the album cover–a low, orange sun setting over the Pacific ocean. It is, as Jessica Hundley observes in the brand new liner notes, “both apocalyptic and seductive.” CD $10 SKU:24737

TERRY & THE PIRATES- Comanche Boots (70s San Francisco Quicksilver Messenger Service )-Label:ACADIA Twenty nine years after the release of the original Too Close For Comfort comes the third issue of this priceless and timeless music from San Francisco's own Terry & The Pirates.” Another view: “Probably only remembered today as one of the many bands graced by the guitarwork of John Cipollina following his departure from Quicksilver Messenger Service, and as a footnote in the career of Nicky Hopkins, Terry and the Pirates deserve much greater recognition. Although Cipollina’s feral guitar is undoubtedly essential to their charms, the work of Terry Dolan himself should not be underestimated. His voice is an acquired taste, a strange mixture of David Crosby and Captain Beefheart, but as such, it’s impressively distinctive. Meanwhile, his songwriting mines that same rich vein of American folk which yielded ‘Pride Of Man’ (so memorably covered by Quicksilver). The best songs on this collection of various live and studio recordings are certainly Dolan’s own. Whilst a version of Jackie Wilson’s ‘Higher & Higher’ might be entertainingly audacious, covers of ‘Mystery Train’ and ‘Don’t Do It’ aren’t going to make anybody forget those by The Band, despite some impressive sparring between Cipollina and second guitarist Greg Douglass on the latter. In this context, tracks like ‘Inside and Out’ and ‘Inlaws and Outlaws’ distinguish themselves as fine examples of original Californian rock n’ roll. Even if none of this is especially ground-breaking or epoch-defining music, it’s played with spirit and any fans of West Coast music who might have easily overlooked it should be sure to rectify their mistake. CD $10 SKU:18999

UNRELATED SEGMENTS-Where You Gonna Go (66-75 Michigan proto hard rock)Label:CICADELIC RECORDS Sixties punk, garage, moody sounds and proto-hard-rock of the highest order! Complete recordings (1966-1975) of this legendary band from Michigan, including their three killer 45s plus unreleased recordings and alternate takes. Master tape sound, insert with photos and liner notes. The Unrelated Segments created some of the most celebrated garage-punk anthems of all time. Tracks like “Cry, Cry, Cry” with its teenage-angst vocals and out of control fuzztone guitar break, “The Story Of My Life” with that bizarre and ultra-punk bass line or the moody-punker “It’s gonna rain” have been included on countless garage comps (Back From The Grave, Acid Dreams, Nuggets, etc) and have been covered by numerous bands who worship them as 60s punk Gods. Sadly, the band never got the chance to record a full album. After three outstanding 45s, they recorded a projected fourth single that never saw the light of day, just when the band had changed its name to U.S and had started playing in a heavier vein, similar to early MC5. Soon after, the band split up and some of their members formed psych-rock band Lost Nation. On this collection, along with their official 45s and alternate takes / rehearsals, you’ll find the unreleased 45 from 1969 plus some demos recorded by an unnamed post-Unrelated Segments / Lost Nation band in 1972. An amazing find which shows the band playing pure Detroit high-energy hard rock! “The Unrelated Segments emerged from the same downriver suburbs that had produced the MC5, and their suburban mutation was almost as unique. Singer Ron Stults had an unforgettable style somewhere between punk snarl and Brit erudition and the songs he wrote with lead guitarist Rory Mack were catchy and substantial” – Ben Edmonds (Creeem, Rolling Stone, Mojo CD $10 SKU:22973

WHISKEY HOWL- ST(Obscure 1972 heavy Blues)Label:PACEMAKER First time available on CD for this obscure Canadian funk-laden heavy blues rocker, originally released in 1972 by Warner Brothers. Whiskey Howl remains one of the great success stories of the early CanCon era. They were a blues band that enjoyed a large following, appeared on legendary concert bills and yet, they left only one (memorable) studio album. The record quickly garnered rave reviews and airplay on FM stations across Canada. And that was that. The LP took some time to come out; by the time it was released in 1972, the band had broken up. Anyone who likes driving harmonica blues should have this in their collection. The LP took a little while to come out after its recording; by the time it was released in 1972, the band had broken up. Canadians all tell me "What a band!": John Witmer, vocals; Michael Pickett, harp and vocals; Richard Fruchtman, bass and vocals; Dave Morrison, guitar and vocals and Wayne Wilson, drums. Even though they are virtually forgotten, this has got to be one of the best jumpin' blues albums out there, with versions of Memphis Slims Mother Earth, Louis Jordans Caldonia and Let The Good Times Roll and B.B. Kings Early In The Morning. It also featured an oddity in those days of electric Chicago blues, an a capella version of Leadbellys Rock Island Line. There are good originals on the album as well, and one can only speculate as to what might have happened if the bands momentum could have been maintained. Sadly, some of the original members are no longer with us to see the LPs return to existence CD $10 SKU:26201

CICADELIC SIXTIES -Vol 7- From Texas to Tucson(60s psych)-Label:COlLECTABLES On series such as this, by the time one gets to the seventh volume, it's usually a point for all but the hardcore enthusiasts to jump ship. Not so with Cicadelic 60s, Vol. 7 -- most of the acts represented may have gotten past some local or regional recognition (though one, the Lewallen Brothers, made it to national TV at least twice), but the Shandells, Inc., the Shadows (not the British instrumental outfit), the Feathers, and the Rocks, any could easily have made the leap to national exposure without a lot of luck, based on the evidence here (which makes this CD also sort of sad to hear, in terms of how heartbreakingly close some of these acts got). The Shandells Inc. utilize a shimmering fuzztone effect on their material, which works well in a spacy manner on "Say What I Mean" (joined by a cheesy Farfisa organ on the break) and somewhat less so on the harder, edgier "Just Cry," which offers the drummer a great showcase for his speed on the break. The Shadows seem to have had one pretty good organist and two fine guitarists, who get to show off some of their best work on "If You Love Me," while "The Big Man" is a fairly routine dance instrumental, dressed up with some entertaining lead guitar flourishes. The Rocks are the bluesiest outfit here, and appear to have listened to a lot of Them and the Shadows of Knight, based on their one side here, "Because We're Young." The Feathers, from Odessa, TX, were heavily influenced by the Byrds and, even more so, by the Beau Brummels and the Leaves, but had a less serious edge. Most of the rest of the CD is filled out by the Lewallen Brothers, who were far and away the most successful act here -- based in Tucson, AZ, they were popular in the southwest and had a collective virtuoso attack on their instruments as well as great voices. Their six songs are worth the price of admission, and should have been enough to make this volume a keeper, especially since the last four of their songs have never been released before. But the makers have filled the CD out with a pair of sides by the Marsades, a band that backed Gayle Ann Lewallen, the fairer sibling of the Lewallen brethren represented elsewhere; they're not bad, a first-rate dance outfit who might well have made it big in L.A. in the early '60s, whence these records date, and the Lewallen sister has a pleasing rock & roll voice on "Please Let Me Know," a side that recalls Jo Ann Campbell. They also fit in doubly well in the context of this CD, as the Marsades' split led to the Lewallen Brothers organizing themselves as a band. But it's the last track that makes this CD absolutely essential to any collection of '60s garage rock -- a 23-minute interview with Cal and Keith Lewallen, where they talk about their family, the band's history, their tours with Chris Montez and the Ripchords, and sharing bills with Paul Revere & the Raiders, the Yardbirds et al; and the entire music scene around Arizona in the early '60s, as well as their near-break on Happening '68. They're so engaging that the interview is worth returning to multiple times, and is the perfect capper to an already enjoyable CD compilation COMP CD $12 SKU:24343

CONGREGATION FOR ANTI FLIRTS -The McAllen, Texas Teen Scene 1965-1967 -Label:CICADELIC RECORDS \Subtitled: The McAllen, Texas Teen Scene 1965-1967. "From 1965 to 1967, McAllen was the happening scene for some of the wildest music to emanate from Texas in the '60s. The label that played host to these bands was Jimmy Nichol's Pharaoh Records and this album contains the best the label had to offer. Not only were the records superlative, but today they are considered some of the rarest finds for collectors of '60s garage bands. Singles by Pharaoh artists such as The Headstones, The Cavaliers, and Christopher and The Souls go for over a grand apiece, if they can be located. Congregation For Anti-Flirts Inc. also contains in depth coverage on the McAllen bands with rare photos, radio charts, and interviews, making this album a journey to pharaoh's valley that can't be missed. BOLDER DAMN- Mourning (60s psych Blue Cheer, MC5 style) Label:GUERSSEN Highly recommended if you like Sabbath, Blue Cheer, Pentagram, MC5, Sainte Anthony's Fyre. Reissue of an absolute monster US hard-rock private pressing. Hailing from Florida, Bolder Damn released this beast in 1971, featuring ultra-heavy, "raw-in-your-face" sound with devastating fuzzed-out guitar, solid rhythm section and manic vocals. First discovered and reissued by the legendary Rockadelic label in 1990, the album has gained cult status among new fans of '70s proto-doom and hard-rock sounds since then. After many of years of being out of print, now here's the definitive vinyl reissue of 'Mourning', including original artwork, a fold-out insert with liner notes and an interview with singer John Anderson and rare pictures. FOX- For Fox Sake (1970 UK PSYCH ZOMBIES STYLE)- SAALELabel:SOMMER Originally released in 1970 but sounding more akin to ‘67-68, “For Fox Sake” is a superb example of UK psych, highly recommended if you’re into APPLE, KOOBAS, ZOMBIES, OCTOPUS, SKIP BIFFERTY, SPENCER DAVIS GROUP, RUBBLES. First ever vinyl reissue with original UK artwork. Remastered sound and insert with photos / memorabilia plus liner notes by band member Steve Brayne. Formed in Brighton in 1968 with roots to the mod-soul scene, The Fox consisted of Steve (Stephen) Brayne on lead guitar & vocals, Winston Weatherill (ex-Gary Farr & The T-Bones) on lead guitar & sitar, Alex Lane on keyboards & vocals, Tim Reeves on drums and Dave Windross on bass. During their brief existence they supported The Herd and opened for David Bowie. Their sound was loud and righteous with great vocal harmonies, tight rhythm section and wonderful keyboard /guitar solos. After getting signed to a London management, they recorded their only LP in one session and they had it released in the UK on the Fontana label and on the USA on Crewe, featuring a different cover. Sadly, the band broke up following year and since the inclusion of “Butterfly” in one of the Rubbles comps several decades later, they've become a cult group among psych collectors LP $22 SKU:22891

LITTLE BIG HORN -ST (West Coast, Americana and hard-rock) DLB LP SAALE!Label:SOMMOR Little Big Horn evolved from Luton-based pop-psych band Wild Silk. As occurred with many British bands from the 60s, they adopted different musical influences as the decade progressed and "underground" was the thing to be, so by the late 60s, Little Big Horn incorporated West Coast, Americana and hard-rock elements to their powerful sound. Their sole album was released only in Germany in 1971 as part of a deal between Shel Talmy Productions and the Bellaphon label (along with other obscure acts like Sunday and Diabolus) and it's an interesting mix of rootsy Americana and heavy rock. Here’s the first ever legit vinyl reissue, expanded to a double LP set with the addition of the killer 45 B-side “Just A Game” and excellent unissued material from the time. Transferred from original master tapes. Gatefold sleeve plus insert with rare photos and detailed liner notes by AlecPalao.RIYL: The Band, Led Zeppelin, Byrds, Badfinger, Grapefruit, Bronco, Plastic Penny, Youngbloods… LP $28 SKU:24476

LIVING SACRIFICE BAND-Beauty for ashes (75-82 West Coast Xtian heavy rock)SAALE - Label:ANAZITISI From 1975 to 1982 the Living Sacrifice Band would play literally hundreds of concerts from the west coast to the east coast and privately produce 3 albums between 1977 and 1981. "Beauty for ashes" is their second one, from 1979. Side A contains 5 pleasant xian folk-rock ballads, with beautiful female vocals and excellent flute and keyboards work, reminiscent of early 70's UK bands. Side B seems to be different enough, containing three extended rock (you could even call them heavy rock) tracks with female and male vocals as well and lots of fuzzy, distorted guitars, and wild flute leads. 3 tracks of the album are (co-)written by Jim and Vicky Tsapatoris of Last Call Of Shiloh fame. This is an officialy reissue, represented here with the original B/W cover which is much rarer than the second edition from 1980, with the well-known "Flower Girl" cover. Fully laminated cover. Includes extra triptych (6-pages LP-sized) insert with bio, photos, lyrics and memorabilia and a reproduction of the second 1980 edition's ("Flower Girl") front and back cover. Reproduction of an LSB original poster is also included. Limited to 200 black and 100 coloured copies. 180gr vinyl as usual. PVC protective outsleeve LP $17 SKU:20838

LORE CITY Participation MystiqueLP + download (elements of psych rock, post- rock, dark wave, and dream pop)SAALE! Label:LORE CITY Praise for Lore City:
“Lore City pack a mystical punch” – LOUD WOMEN"Their cinematic flair bodes well for a soundtrack to the great shift of humanity.” – POST-PUNK“a trance-inducing shamanistic ritual, meant to bring you closer to both one’s ancestors and the universe” – The Joy of Violent Movement“positively artful and stirring” – Destroy//Exist “sounds as if it were reverberating in a deep cave below the forest floor” – Tome to the Weather Machine“a massively psychedelic landscape” – MangoWave“brings a unique, atmospheric sound, has a post-punk feel, and a mystical aura” – Roadie Music“combines elements of psych rock, post- rock, dark wave, and dream pop” – YMX “close your eyes and let the music seep into your brain” – Faeton Music “natural and unique” – Artists Central“Lore City has made a seriously successful attempt to innovate” – Maxazin Album Statement and Backstory"Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow never was. Move your piece around the board, sheath of the physical. Light the lamp within. Corral. Catch sight of a fireball careening across the sky, blazing. Something is on fire, and it’s coming down on us. Lull into the love that is afforded to you, lull into the lead of sleep, lull into the movies. Push, pull. Marching to our realizations, marching to work, marching to our resolutions. And you’re waiting, waiting for that call to come. Standing across from, standing next to, coming to a standstill. Earthly divide. The eternal afternoons, parallel. The moments when something moves closer. A phantom ship wafting, calling home across the water. Recreating the familiar, ancient original feeling. An expanse, cascading.
A rare event happened in early 2020, something that occurs only once every 500 years. Saturn directly aligned with Pluto within the constellation of Capricorn. Essentially, hard lessons joined forces with transformational evolution regarding the infrastructure between the material and the spirit. I know you know. Queued up in a world of limbo and revolution, Lore City tunneled into new songs, finally sending Alchemical Task to press in the early summer days. By then, they were halfway through Participation Mystique. Original Feeling cleared the way, and by the time Buttons materialized with somber holiness, they knew it was finished. Another installment for the continuum, its contents esoterically encyclopedic." LP $18 SKU:24630

MCKENNA MENDELSON BLUES- ST (bluesy psych demo tapes from 1968) -Label:PACEMAKER Another great album from Canada's legendary Paragon label, a set of super bluesy psych demo tapes from 1968; the band’s album “Stink” was received not just as a great album of electric blues, but as some sort of revelation when it appeared in the second half of 1969. Lead guitarist Mike McKenna spent time ('67-'68) in the Ugly Ducklings, but he had already developed a 'local hero' tag by playing hard electric blues as a member of the legendary Luke and the Apostles. Together, he and Joe Mendelson made arrestingly earthy music, which soon attracted another of Toronto's rock gods of the day, bassist Denny Gerrard from the Paupers, whose legendary talents had served him well on the stage of the Monterey Pop Festival, where his work with the Paupers was (and still is) considered a highlight. The material included on this disc, which was demo material that now the band claim was “bootegged” by the legitimate Paragon label (a little revisionist history, perhaps?), is arguably even more rare and interesting than that on their classic McKenna Mendelson Mainline "Stink" album. O.P.M.C. -Amalgamation (1970 acid psych w insert)Label:WAH WAH A splendid vinyl reissue of this much sought after psych LP by a great Dutch-British duo, consisting of Barrie Webb and Teun van der Slikke, who were joined by a host of highly regarded guest musicians. Originally released in 1970 by Pink Elephant, the music is a wonderful mixture of druggy folk, spacy guitar and haunting melodies that some sources have considered to be vaguely reminiscent of Love's 'Forever Changes'. They were located in Amsterdam's red light district, which is why they called themselves Oldest Profession(al) Music Company, or in short O.P.M.C. This reissue comes with remastered sound, a quality glossy laminated sleeve reproducing the original artwork, bonus tracks and an insert with photos and liner notes. Limited edition of only 500 copies. LP $28 SKU:24773

REAL EYES-ST + A4 size, leatherette, soft cover 90-page book with drawings and lyrics . SAALE Label:WIZARD Rare local US private pressing from 1981. Described thus by one writer: "Dreamy all over, with progressive folk elements; flat out psychedelic rock in some tracks. Interesting and thoughtful songwriting. A great discovery!!!”; described elsewhere as "sounds running the gamut from soft folk, to psych heavy metal,” and also as "tasty and creative stuff throughout,” by a third scribe…. and this way in Acid Archives:"One of the best 1980s discoveries, this is pretty wild stuff, has a crude garage edge, especially when it gets heavy. The songwriting is pretty interesting and thoughtful, and as private press LPs go, this is distinctive and memorable enough to explain why psych dealers jumped on its bandwagon. A lot of the lyrics are pretty stoned. There is a lot going on here, with enough weird hooks and surprising moments to give any listener a fair amount of kicks. I like side two, especially the closing 'Visions of Obscurity V,' better than side one. In the long run, whether this will be a keeper for any individual listener will probably be determined by the insane 12-minute 'Madman’s Game,' an elaborate epic that encapsulates everything distinctive about this record.” —Acid Archives LP $38 SKU:24383

SHOTGUN-Dallasian Rock(70s blues rock Prev. unrel vintage studio tracks)SAALE! - Label:SHROOMANGEL (USA) A blend of hard hitting riff rock á la early Led Zeppelin and James Gang, with a guitar attack reminiscent of bands like Leafhound or Edgar Broughton Band. Tight, muscular, lean and mean urban blues rock riffage and soaring, soulful vocals, punchy bass and solid drumming make for a memorable set of songs that you won't soon forget. Shotgun had a successful career in and around Dallas, TX between 1974 and 1977, playing the club circuit and recording at the cities best studios. Sadly, nothing ever came of the recording sessions and Shotgun eventually morphed into VIZION, which released an album in 1980 that featured the vocals of Jan Houston. Finally after more than 38 years, Shotgun's long lost studio sessions are presented for the first time ever on LP as they were meant to be heard. The CD versions includes eleven additional bonus tracks. The most amazing thing about these tracks is how they remained on the shelf all these years! •Tight, muscular, lean and mean urban blues rock riffage. •Previously unreleased vintage studio tracks from the 1970's LP $22 SKU:19500

STRANG, JOHN-THE MASTERPEACE (private press 1968 folk rock rarity) SAALE Label:SEELIE COURT A super rare privately pressed folk rock LP from 1968 is now finally available on a bigger scale! The LP was originally pressed in a super limited run of 25 copies, which nowadays are obviously unaffordable! Sir John Graves, who after his musical career became a leading authority on the psychiatry of drug addiction, recorded this delightful, somewhat Donovanesque LP with two friends (Valentine Lewis Lloyd and Martin Farquharson) in Wales when he was only 17 years old. LP $25 SKU:24155

TRYAD-IF ONLY YOU BELIEVE IN LOVIN'(1971 acid folk)Label: DEL VAL Last copies of this 2014 reissue of this excellent acid folk album. Del Val Records present a reissue of Tryad's 'If Only You Believe In Lovin'', originally released in 1971 as a private press. Ultra-deluxe LP reissue on the recently resurrected (and sadly now defunct) Del Val label, the obscure but legendary label previously responsible for early and collectible vinyl editions by The Brigade, The Bachs, Bent Wind, D.R. Hooker, Fifty Foot Hose, etc. Long overdue and much delayed reissue of this NYC private press few have heard and less have seen. Comparable to the best UK folk-fusion LPs of the era, this is like a Yankee version of Hunter Muskett's great 'Every Time You Move' (1970), with co-ed vocals plus bass/drums/pedal steel/flute/keys accompaniment. Consider this East Coast haunted not West Coast hip, though you'll be reminded of a certain revered private from out there that wouldn't exist for another five years: Relatively Clean Rivers. Comes with a four page lyric insert, and the cover is what they were made like fifty years ago, this one is a heavy duty, very excellent Stoughton tip-on jacket. LP $10 SKU:22511
