OZ KNOZZ Live Mix( US 70s private press hard rock/prog) Label:ShroomAngel Records/Ozone •First time release for these official rare professional live recordings•Limited pressing vinyl issue, mixed from the original multi-track reelsPure and original Texas hard rock/progressive rock: red-hot wah-wah blasting guitars, heavy Hammond keyboards accented with Moogs and other synthesizers, with rock-solid bottom end, and furious, slightly jazzy drums. Formed in 1969 in Houston, TX, Oz Knozz's 1975 debut LP, “Ruff Mix," has become a hot property on the collector’s circuit because, quite simply, the album is killer. People have wondered if there was anything more from Oz Knozz? Well, for forty-five years a handful of tapes sat in a warehouse, having survived a fire, the tape boxes even bearing singe marks as their battle scars. It is from these tapes that this live album is now born — and all we can say is that if you love the studio album, you are in for a special treat. The material here spans the years 1974-1979, and apart from the first track on side A, all are mixed from the original multi-track reels. As on “Ruff Mix,” the three-part 'Doodley Squat’ suite features heavy dual keyboard parts and crunchy guitars and expressive vocals; the result is a terrific Hard Prog track with lot of energy. Vocals are expressive and sit nicely atop the progressive (sometimes AOR-tinged) hard rock. We’re thrilled to be a part of the absolute debut of these stellar live recordings. A wild blast of flamethrower rock! LP $26 SKU:24301

EARTHFORCE-Ultra rare mid-70s UK acid folk LP + 12-page booklet Label:LION "Ultra rare mid-70s UK acid folk rock recordings. If you can imagine the perfect blend of Eastern trance/psych and English hippy acid folk rock, this would be it. Very cool and freaky."LP $24 SKU:24366

ST. ALBERT'S DREAM- Vol. 2: Lucid Electric Prophet- with BOOKLET Label:LYSERGIC SOUND "Mandatory compilation containing no fillers and fiercely representative of my beloved heavy psychedelic genre. Crude, raw and uncompromising, what else?” — GAZHOO117, rateyourmusic
"This is a fantastic compilation of obscure 45's, and unreleased archival material. No duff tracks, everything in the pocket as it were. This to me anyway, is the perfect type of compilation. All non album tracks, superb music, and all very hard to find.” — ashratom, unencumberedmusicreviews.blogspot.com Heavy “dosed” psychedelia where The Prophet takes you to the depths of the unknown Acid Land. Twelve tracks from some of the deepest underground acts in North America, from the years 1968-1972. Plenty of raw fuzz, swirling effects, deep lyrics, heavy beats, and cool hooks from these mostly unknown heroes of this long past era of musical creativity. Sourced from
micro-pressed 45’s and unreleased master tapes, these songs have never been compiled on vinyl before. Hear wizardry from such acts as Osceola, Hindenburg Lyon, Ark, Merriday Park and others. The very detailed fantasy cover art evidently shows "The Prophet as he enters the mythical Valley Of The Stone Giants.” And why not? Created for and by lovers of the mega-heavy and the ultra obscure. MOUSE AND THE TRAPS - The Fraternity Years Label:BIG BEAT NOTE: NOT SEALED Archive copy previously owned by either the owner of ALIVE or BOMP..CD $15 SKU:24448

KIM FOWLEY- Outrageous Label:ASCENSION NOTE: NOT SEALED Archive copy previously owned by either the owner of ALIVE or BOMP. Outrageous is perhaps the most renowned of Fowley's solo output and is his only album to chart on the United States' Billboard 200. In January 2003 Julian Cope selected it as the album of the month, calling it "a shamanic rock’n’roll album made by the ultimate chancer /huckster/gleeman."[3] Rob Fitzpatrick of the Guardian named the album one of the "101 strangest records on Spotify," writing that:The album sounds like Fowley himself was off his chump on weapons-grade pharmaceuticals – he rants, raves, seethes, spits, burps, curses, declaims, screams and hollers his way across a heavily psychedelic set of knuckle-scraping rock-outs that recall a post-lobotomy Doors attempting an MC5 b-side while piled in the back of a inexpertly driven truck. On ice. And drugs. On the moon. CD $30 SKU:24449

ACDC- High Voltage Label:EPIC SEALED Archive copy previously owned by either the owner of ALIVE or BOMP.High Voltage is the first internationally released studio album by Australian hard rock band AC/DC. JAMES BROWN’S FUNKY PEOPLE Label:PEOPLE SEALED Archive copy previously owned by either the owner of ALIVE or BOMP. BBC REVIEW “A treasure trove of breathtaking breaks and rare grooves” Possibly the greatest compilation of the era was James Brown’s Funky People, which shone a light on the Godfather of Soul’s productions and roster of artists from his People imprint (1971-1976). These artists – the J.B.’s, Lyn Collins, Fred Wesley and Maceo and the Macks – were then largely unknown in the UK. CD $10 SKU:24451

ANT TRIP CEREMONY-24 HOUR-Label:CICADELIC RECORDS With photos and the story of the group as related by its members. The Ant Trip Ceremony album was recorded during two sessions. the first session was in February of 1968 in a rented hall at Oberlin. Steve was there for the first sessions but had left Oberlin by the spring of 1968 and was not present for the second recording session. The album was called "Twenty Four Hours"because that was the feeling behind the sessions. The band felt ready to record their original songs. These were performed live before student audiences. During live shows, the band was wild, but sadly no live tapes exist. Thus the original songs done on the album when performed live were more psychedelic and improvised. The band was known for getting into strange and long jams. Furthermore no song was ever done twice exactly the same. They were, in some ways like the Grateful Dead of the region. When the band played it was a happening, a genuine psychedelic event. Shows went on for hours, with the audience in a wide variety of states of consciousness. The artwork for the album was of its time with psychedelic-mind-zapping art work. It was without a doubt a counterculture statement!! Musically the whole album has a strong west-coast feel and influenced of Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Quicksilver but also Hendrix are felt troughout the album. A classic psychedelic album. CD $10 SKU:22970

MATEO, EDUARDO- Mateo Solo Bien Se Lame (1972 Uruguay Nick Drake style ) SAALE! - Label:LION From its first moments, the music is lilting, poetic, intimate, in turns life-affirming and melancholic, with pulsating percussion backed by unheard-of guitar chords and tunings (perhaps the reason for the frequent Caetano Veloso and Nick Drake comparisons); it is an album that sounds, simply put, honest. The record was released at the end of 1972 in both Argentina and Uruguay, and was received from that first moment as a classic in those countries, a position it still occupies today." CD $5 SKU:23559

PLASTICLAND- Mink Dress and Other Cats (post punk psych) SAALE - Label:TIMOTHY'S BRAIN Record Collector magazine in England rightly calls this "a superb compilation of one of the true pioneers of post-punk psychedlia:—and it's true; an amazing collection of ultra-rare early singles from a truly under-rated band CD $10 SKU:23582

PLASTICLAND- ST Aka Colour Appreciation (60s influenced psychedelic/garage magic) - Label:Hardknocks Hard-to-find band-authorized CD version of the 1984 debut album from these neo-psychedelic greats—pure 1960s influenced psychedelic/garage magic, a trip not to be missed for any reason! This seventeen-track CD has all the material from both of these (and several other) editions of the band’s debut, including their hair-raising version of the Pretty Things’ (as Electric Banana) song ‘Alexander CD $14 SKU:23655

PLEASE - Circus Days A Collection of Demos and Studio Recordings 1967-69-Label:ACME/LION Sink into a vision of a dreamy psychedelic universe which seems to have been Peter Dunton’s own on “Circus Days," the third collection of previously unreleased recordings from Dunton's late 1960’s British psychedelic band, Please. CD edition includes three bonus tracks not on the LP version!! CD $14 SKU:23387

POPI ASTERIADI with LAKIS PAPPAS - Another Sunday Gone-Label:WORLD PSYCHEDELIA “This is—we feel—quite simply some of the most beautiful music in a folk vein ever recorded; lovely, full of feeling, yet with the yearning and melancholy that usually only old, tired performers like Leonard Cohen can project into their singing... only in this case, it’s a little Greek girl who looks like Jean Seberg and a young Greek boy with guitar who are making this early Sunday morning music! If you like the Bulent album this same label released last year, or Nick Drake, or anything in that general vein, than this will, we think, appeal to you. Evidently, this is a key album in the Greek neo kyma (“new wave”) movement of the late 1960’s, which saw young songwriters take musical themes from the bouzouki music of the hashish bars, and translate them into painful, fragile, innocent poetic musings on everyday life—songs of intense longing, characterized by austere arrangements. In addition to the album, there are seven bonus tracks which appear to be some of Asteriadi’s singles, as well as a track written by famous composer Manos Hadjidakis for a film called Aliki, My Love. Liner notes are all too brief, but they include memories of her early career by Asteriadi, as well as a couple of paragraphs on the neo kyma movement. CD $10 SKU:20400

PROTOTYPE- ST (old school AOR 1983) Label:PACEMAKER A great AOR album, with a Hipginosis cover and a top 30 hit in Video Kids. Prototype was Dan Lowe and Brad Stekel who had been in the 49th Parallel, Painter and 451. "Very good, if you like old school AOR with great keys, you'll love this CD. Doug Riley is a fantastic singer and this is indeed a very fine AOR album. I don't think you'll find better examples of pompy AOR than 'Behind Your Eyes' or 'Live Forever.’ An excellent blend of high class melodic rock with great use of backing vocals and loads of keyboard blasts coming out of everywhere! CD $10 SKU:21225

QUICKSILVER MESSENGER SERVICE -Live at the Filmore 4th of Feb 1967- DBL Label:BEAR The second in a series of rare live recordings by the Bay Area rockers. This 1967 recording contains many highlights including superb versions of 'You Don't Love Me' and 'A Fool for You'. Also includes 'Gold and Silver', 'Walkin' Blues', 'I Hear You Knocking' and 'All Night Worker' and shows the band were flexible and able to put together a set that highlighted their musical dexterity. While the sound quality isn't the best and seems to be in mono, there are nice things to be found here. The band's then line up was David, Greg, John and Gary with Jim Murray who left before the first album. This disc also has guest appearances from Nick Gravenites who appears as a guest vocalist on 'Walkin’ Blues' and 'Year of the Outrage' while Dino Valente shows up for 'A Fool for You' and 'I Can't Believe It.' CD $10 SKU:21600

QUICKSILVER MESSENGER SERVICE -Live at the Filmore 6th February 1967 - Label:BEAR Quicksilver Messenger Service is considered to be one of the most important bands to come from the San Francisco music scene of the sixties along with their contemporaries The Grateful Dead and The Jefferson Airplane. The band initially came together in 1965 and proceeded to play a great many gigs across America.Another performance from the Fillmore in San Francisco, this recording comes just two days after another release in this series of live recordings from Quicksilver Messenger Service. This recording while being a single disc contains many highlights including superb versions of You Don’t Love Me and A Fool For You. Whilst not radically different from the set of the 4th of February although shorter the set does include Gold and Silver, Walkin’ Blues, I Hear You Knocking and All Night Worker and shows the band were flexible and able to put together a set that highlighted their musical dexterity and also their choice of material although the performances are different. CD $10 SKU:21601

ROBBS Before, Then & After - (3xCD + DVD-four discs total)-Label:WET WORLD RECORDS (USA) This four-disc set contains 55 tracks and five video appearances by the Robbs, covering the bands entire recording career. With so much music on offer, a hearty helping of band history seems to be in order. Musically, the Robbs were noted for their use of harmony vocals, and instrumentation-clearly inspired by folk-rock, bubblegum music, and jangle pop. Great stuff-and a real labor of love for the label.Spotted by Dick Clark, the band was signed to Mercury Records in 1966, and moved to California to appear as regular performers on Where The Action Is during late 1966 and early 1967, replacing Paul Revere and the Raiders. The Robbs had some regional success between 1966 and 1970, at first for Mercury and subsequently for a variety of record labels. The Robbs have the distinction of placing the most singles on Billboard magazine's "Bubbling Under" chart (five as The Robbs, plus a final single as Cherokee) without ever once crossing over into the Billboard Hot 100 (ouch!). The Robbs were never able to garner a true nation-wide hit. Their lone album, from 1967, was compiled from the A-side and B-sides of their 1966 and 1967 singles, along with two new tracks. This self-titled LP made the Billboard 200 chart for one week in January 1968, peaking at #200, and the band was shortly thereafter dropped by Mercury Records. Upon signing to Atlantic in 1968, The Robbs pursued a more country rock orientation. After their two Atlantic singles missed even the "bubbling under" charts, Atlantic let the band go, and they were picked up by ABC/Dunhill in 1969. The Robbs continued to release singles for this label, with the usual regional success and some "bubbling under" appearances, but no national breakthrough. In 1971, the group changed their name to Cherokee, and re-emphazised their country rock influenced sound. They released one self-titled album as Cherokee, as well as the 1971 non-LP single "Girl, I've Got News For You". Both the album and the single featured the participation of Chris Hillman of The Byrds. CD $24 SKU:20194

ROCH, ERNAN- La Onda Pesada (70s west coast style psych)-Label:MARIPOSA (Argentina) Reissues of rare underground albums from Mexico: con las Voces Frescas "La Onda Pesada": first time reissue on CD of this extremely rare Rex label psychedelic classic (1971) from Mexico; West Coast style psych—a little bit folksy, a little bit psychedelic from this a Mexican singer known only for this rare album. Roch sings in English throughout, often in a mode that mixes bluesy phrasings with a raspier folk style, a package made all the more excellent thanks to the mix of acoustic and fuzzed-out electric guitars; these are heavy on dark-edged phrasings, and they really give the record a spooky feel, one that some people have likened to being almost folk/funk at times! Production is simple, but somehow heavenly, floating with a brilliance crafted from a very few simple elements; one of those rare perfect moments of studio magic CD $8 SKU:23657

ROCKADROME - Royal American 20th Century Blues ( rare 60s pop psych) - Label:PACEMAKER Recorded in a time when creativity counted for more than commercial appeal, the album was recorded for the eclectic Sound Canada label. It sold poorly, but was rediscovered as part of the revival in interest in psychedelia; the only problem—copies of the original album were incredibly rare (and incredibly expensive!). The album is a mixture of rock, psych (some of the tracks are definitely Beatles influenced), and a touch of blues. The album opens with 'R.A.T.C.B. Teaser', which is used as a theme throughout the album, with a reprise at the end and the main song later on the disc. The first proper song is 'Very Strange,' a nice taste of psych with some fetching guitar-work, followed by the more bluesy 'Thirteen Miles Down' which includes the requisite blues guitar solo. The title track is split in two and done as a rock version and a psyche/pop version, both of which are very good, and 'There You Go Again' has a Byrdsian chime to it coupled with a Dylan-influenced vocal. 'Inside Out, Inside In' is one of the Beatles-y songs, but there is nothing wrong with that if it is done well, which this is. The intro to 'T.O. Town' has evinced comparisons with the Monkees as it is very similar to 'Last Train To Clarksville', but the song itself is a great garage rocker. 'Ain't It A Shame' is a little too close to goodtime pop for my liking, but put against the high quality of the rest of the album this can be forgiven.Studio owner and executive producer Art Snider (who had discovered and first recorded a young Gordon Lightfoot years earlier) was inspired enough by Rockadrome's first sessions to basically give engineer/producer Ray Lawrence free reign to carry the project in whatever direction it might go. Fortunately, it was an era of experimentation, studio clocks could mostly be ignored, (there was a belief that the best stuff was done after dark) and so Rockadrome was given an after-hours slot. All through that fall and winter, the songs were refined, recorded, tossed and replaced. Contemplated. Even the physical process became a strange routine. The guys would need to phone the studio by 5 pm to check that the evening schedule was open, then scramble into their cars east of Toronto & head down the 401. The results show that the band deserve their reputation. Extensively remastered, this is the first legitimate reissue. CD $10 SKU:12227

SATWA-Lailson, Lula Côrtes (1973 “a mellow starburst of acoustic jangle”)Label:TIME LAG Satwa, often cited as Brazil's first independent record, is a mellow starburst of acoustic jangle. Formed after the return of Lula Côrtes and Lailson from their respective foreign excursions (the former home after the requisite Moroccan sojourn, the latter a young long-hair back from the States), Satwa lasted only a year, perhaps due to their differing stripes. But for 11 days in January 1973 the pair jammed cross-legged and produced the folk trance gems that adorn this self-titled debut. At a time when censors caused newspapers to run cake recipes on their front pages in place of rejected news stories, Lailson only lets the occasional throat drone slip through his lips. Largely void of voice and word, the songs (Côrtes plucking steely leads from his sitar while Lailson's 12-string thrums crystalline chords) are loose and lovely. The sole interference in these glistening arabesques is the hoary electric fretwork Robertinho on ‘Blues do Cachorro Muito Louco,’ the most explicitly fried track. Otherwise, Côrtes and Lailson are left to experiment in musty silence. Seemingly taped live, each track is a dry documentation of the duo's gently rambling improvisations. Far from the recombinant psychedelia of tropicalismo that reigned over the pre-hippie underground in Brazil's bustling metropolises five years earlier, Satwa play bed peace bards. In double-mono, or fake stereo, Satwa is raw, untreated mentalism translated into pure songflow. At times exhausted and dusty – ‘Atom,’ or archaically splendorous (‘Valse Dos Cogumelos’), the duo's spiraling scrolls etched in rustic timbres unfurl gracefully. Satwa is a quiet triumph.” —Bernardo Rondeau, Dusted. The CD version is identical to the out of print LP version, only smaller—it comes in a mini LP style sleeve, with folded insert. CD $10 SKU:20304

SEOMPI-Guns in the Skies(the Black Sabbath of Texas, psych rock) Label:CICADELIC RECORDS (USA) “While releasing only three singles in the early 1970's, Seompi's mystique has continued to grow through the ensuing decades. Three posthumous releases issued in the late 1990's only added to Seompi's aura—even though two were off speed and the third has been long out of print. This was the status quo for the past couple of decades until now with the release of "Guns In The Skies". Starting off with the hard rocker "AWOL" and then spacing out with the fourteen minute unreleased opus titled "Synergy Squares", Seompi takes you on a trip back to 1971 when Austin, Texas was the stomping ground for their brand of Psychedelic Space Rock. CD $10 SKU:20309

SHAKERS,LOS Los Ineditas + La Vigencia 25 Originals-Unreleased Tracks: Uruguayan 70s Rock-Label:CIRCOLO DEL DIS Two compilations of unreleased and rare Los Shakers material brought together in one place on this disc, amking this pretty essential. The Shakers burst on the scene in Uruguay with a look and sound that got them attention as South America's answer to the Beatles. They soon got a contract with Odeon in Argentina; Odeon brought them to Buenos Aires, where they had incredible success with a single featuring two of their own compositions, 'Break it all' and 'More'. This made the difference. The sound was Beatles-like, but not an ordinary or rough copy, instead a copy of superior quality, superior than many of the foreign singers of that era. Added to this, was the quality of their own compositions, their own songs were of a very high quality. CD $14 SKU:20380

SNAKEGRINDER - And the Shredded Fieldmice (70s psych Grateful Dead style) - Label:OBSCURE OXIDE "Every burg in the '70s that had a steady supply of weed and electricity undoubtedly provided a birthing ground for the formation of bands influenced by the likes of Jerry Garcia and Lowell George, and the Delaware area was no different. What was different was that our subjects-at-hand got it together and in 1977 released an unassuming document for posterity, containing nothing but original, winding (dare we say "snake-like"?) compositions and good vibes throughout. Since then, the album has garnered accolades from the Acid Archives crowd and so we felt the time was right to give the group's efforts a proper (and properly licensed from the band) presentation, with an "old-style" heavy mini-LP sleeve and thick booklet containing pics, gig posters, song lyrics and liner notes by producer and longtime fan GREGOR ALLIGATOR. In addition, we've added a half-hour of unreleased live tracks from the same era, and everything you hear (album and bonus) was transferred from the mastertapes." CD $10 SKU:23659

SUBJECT ESQ.- ST (1972 fusion prog rock) SAALE!Label:Ohrwaschl digipack reissue of the only release (Epic, 1972) by Subject Esq. before they changed their name to Sahara; complex progressive rock with fusion elements, showing classical influences, and demonstrating superb musicianship throughout. Comparable to many other bands of the era, like Thirsty Moon, Camel, etc.—in fact, they have a similar degree of complexity and inventiveness (multi-tracked sax and guitars, and so on) to many bands from the Canterbury scene. Subject Esq. had unique touches of their own, with an unusual use of vocals, time signatures, and a wide range of solo instruments, all of which are given plenty of room in the lengthy instrumental sections. An odd major label album, so perhaps it’s no surprise that they left CBS to record their more esoteric Sahara albums.

SUNFOREST-The Sound of(UK Acid folk‘69) 20-page booklet with additional insider information on the band, & lyrics-Label:ACME LION There was once a band called Sunforest, who recorded a splendid album in 1969. The record is (as has been said elsewhere) a unique compendium of UK acid folk with a popsike feel, sporting harpsichord and (somewhat) medieval-tinged arrangements integrated into electric and acoustic folk-esque tunes. But one thing must be said straight away: the Sunforest album is not at all twee—the songs are far too clever, and the production (by legendary producer Vic Coppersmith-Heaven) has far too much depth—we say this despite cover art that seems to have misled people since the album was released. Worthy of special mention is the phenomenal folk/funk vibe-fest 'Magician In The Mountain,' which has made this LP the object of desire of many a DJ and a sampler. And, of course, lest we forget, the Sunforest album supplies the answer to the recent burning question (for those of you living in the UK): “What’s that song on the Marks and Spencer TV advert—the one with Twiggy and those other girls in it, singing, "I want to marry a lighthouse keeper.” Why, it’s ‘Lighthouse Keeper,’ of course! The sound of Sunforest was enlivened by contributions from exceptional and experienced studio musicians. On this album, you can hear supple work from bass guitarist par excellance Herbie Flowers (it’s his bass that makes Lou Reed's ‘Walk on the Wild Side’ one of the best late-night songs ever written; he also played bass on the Serge Gainsbourg’s “Histoire de Melody Nelson”). He was joined for the Sunforest sessions by his compatriot in the Jean-Claude Vannier Orchestra, guitarist on an incredible variety of UK number one hit songs (fifty-nine to be exact), including the Kink’s “You Really Got Me,” Thunderclap Newman’s "Something in the Air,’ and Jane Birkin and Serge Gainsbourg’s orgasmic classic ‘Je t'aime... moi non plus’: session-guitarist extraordinaire (and the mastermind behind the Lord Sitar and “Sitar Beat” albums), Big Jim Sullivan. Yes, here on the Sunforest album these two titans of UK rock can be found working with another legend, Vic Smith, on what turned out to be the only release from a trio of unpretentious girls, discovered in a cafe. Ah, the wondrous 1960’s! Includes a 20-page booklet with additional insider information on the band, as well as lyrics. Licensed from Decca/Universal, UK. CD $10 SKU:23501

THIRD ESTATE, THE-Years Before The Wine & AGONISTES (1976 psych )DBL Label:LION Third Estate’s “Years Before the Wine” is an ambitious and intricate psychedelic concept album from 1976 about the French Revolution (!) which blends warm Southern summer sounds (the band were from Baton Rouge, Louisiana) with baroque song structures. Never fear, the serious subject matter is no match for the strong songwriting and light, flowing music. Stunning vocals from Fae Ficklin on the title track are lovely, but even without them this album would richly deserve its status as a psychedelic classic. Stark, intimate production, with tasty fuzz guitar, backwards tape-loop soundscapes and beautiful treated acoustic guitar, puts one in mind of the Ithaca/Agincourt/Friends trilogy from England. The sound of exploration is evident everywhere, as the band spreads its wings, and glorious harmonies flow forth. The previously unreleased album recorded as Agonistes (1973) shows that the later recordings were no fluke—it can stand alone as one of the most beguiling folk/psych albums we’ve ever heard. Additional bonus tracks include singles and home demos. Budget-priced double disc package includes a 28-page color booklet, with histories of both groups by band co-leader Robert Everett, as well as lyrics for all the songs included herein. CD $10 SKU:19996

This compilation boasts all their EP tracks plus rarities, unissued material and pre-Tomcats tracks by The Second Thoughts. On their return to the UK, The Tomcats evolved into cult Psychedelic favourites July."Running At Shadows" boasts authoritative sleeve-notes, featuring quotes from original band members (including Tom Newman, who would later engineer Tubular Bells!) TRUTH AND JANEY-Topeka Jam (70s midwest power trio Psych ) -Label:ROCKADROME RECORDS (USA) Excavated from the archives of a long-time roadie and brought back from the brink of disintegration comes this collection of live recordings made over several nights in Topeka, Kansas circa 1974. The celebrated Iowa hard rock trio is captured here in raw form doing what they did best, stretching out into extended jam sessions featuring heavy guitar action from Billylee Janey, booming fuzz bass from Steve Bock, and Denis Bunce locked in the zone behind his drum kit. "Midnight Horsemen," originally released as a 3-minute single in 1972, is featured here as a 22-minute jam and is a prime example of vintage Truth and Janey. Also included are several previously unreleased songs which have not been heard in over 40 years, as well as early versions of "Down the Road" and "My Mind," from their 1976 underground hard rock classic debut album, "No Rest for the Wicked." Digipak. CD $14 SKU:22586

UNRELATED SEGMENTS-Where You Gonna Go (66-75 Michigan proto hard rock)Label:CICADELIC RECORDS Sixties punk, garage, moody sounds and proto-hard-rock of the highest order! Complete recordings (1966-1975) of this legendary band from Michigan, including their three killer 45s plus unreleased recordings and alternate takes. Master tape sound, insert with photos and liner notes. The Unrelated Segments created some of the most celebrated garage-punk anthems of all time. Tracks like “Cry, Cry, Cry” with its teenage-angst vocals and out of control fuzztone guitar break, “The Story Of My Life” with that bizarre and ultra-punk bass line or the moody-punker “It’s gonna rain” have been included on countless garage comps (Back From The Grave, Acid Dreams, Nuggets, etc) and have been covered by numerous bands who worship them as 60s punk Gods. Sadly, the band never got the chance to record a full album. After three outstanding 45s, they recorded a projected fourth single that never saw the light of day, just when the band had changed its name to U.S and had started playing in a heavier vein, similar to early MC5. Soon after, the band split up and some of their members formed psych-rock band Lost Nation. On this collection, along with their official 45s and alternate takes / rehearsals, you’ll find the unreleased 45 from 1969 plus some demos recorded by an unnamed post-Unrelated Segments / Lost Nation band in 1972. An amazing find which shows the band playing pure Detroit high-energy hard rock! “The Unrelated Segments emerged from the same downriver suburbs that had produced the MC5, and their suburban mutation was almost as unique. Singer Ron Stults had an unforgettable style somewhere between punk snarl and Brit erudition and the songs he wrote with lead guitarist Rory Mack were catchy and substantial” – Ben Edmonds (Creeem, Rolling Stone, Mojo CD $10 SKU:22973

VALENTI,DINO -ST (overlooked classic 60s psych)Label:FLOATING WORLD An overlooked classic of maybe the deepest 60's psychedelic/folk rock ever recorded. Born Chet Powers, Valente wrote the classic 60's hit ‘Get Together' and soon became a prominent figure in the summer of love in San Francisco he joined Quicksilver Messenger Service in their early days and re-joined later as lead vocalist and main songwriter composing most of the material on “What About Me" and “Just For Love." He also wrote the track 'Fresh Air,' the nearest thing Quicksilver ever came to having a hit single. This album is the only solo work he ever produced and he sadly died in 1994. Dino Valente's sole album recalls the one issued by another San Francisco artist signed to CBS in the late '60s, Skip Spence: quirky, lyrically vague, folky yet psychedelic, and nearly devoid of commercial potential in spite of its largely pleasant (if moody) melodies and textures. Yama & the Karma Dusters-Up From the Sewers (1970 quintessential anarcho-hippie record)-Label:LION Super political, rocking, anti-establishment communal band (c. 1970) put together as a result of the Kent State Massacre. As the Euphoria Blimpworks Banliond, fronted by Howard Berkman from morose garage punksters the Knaves, they played demonstrations and student strikes when they weren’t opening for blues royalty—or being the first band to play the yard at Cook County Jail. They were inter-racial, anti-war, Stop the Bomb, free love hippies, the wildest of the wild kids. And this is the quintessential anarcho-hippie record, a surprisingly well-engineered indie effort which came inside home-made silk-screened jackets, with twisted, poetic lyrics (Dylan or Arthur Lee and Love? you decide), and funky, rocking bones—political, sociological, ecological, reflective and free-love sexy. The Karma Dusters really cook on the up-tempo tracks, sounding at times like a cross between The Blues Project and Dylan's band circa 1966, augmented by some dazzling violin. This excellent sounding master-tape reissue has two bonus tracks; it also has two booklets—one is for the outrageous and explicit Gonzo history of the band and their urban commune; the other is a wrap-around booklet for lyrics, all served up together in a Mylar plastic sleeve. You just know the FBI has a huge file on these punks. But do they have the album? CD $8 SKU:20098

OUR LIVES ARE SHAPED BY WHAT WE LOVE - Motown's Mowest Story 1971-73-Label:LITA First ever Mowest anthology.Lovingly re-mastered from the original tapes. Extensive liner notes and photos. You know the old saying, “Go west, young man”? Well, it’s far from cliché. Over the years, some have hit the road in search of Hollywood’s glitz and glamour, others, simply for warmer climes, but in the early 1970’s, Detroit-native and Motown founder Berry Gordy Jr. brought his musical family to the left coast, one piece at a time. He began by launching the Mowest subsidiary in 1971, a new L.A.-based label dedicated to coastal grooves and an eye towards the top of the charts. COMP CD $10 SKU:24193

•Comes with an 8-page booklet with photos and detailed information of the creation of this rarityFor more than fifty years, vinyl collectors and music archivists from around the world have speculated about this ultra-obscure twelve-song demo-only disc from the 1960’s: When was it pressed? Who were the musicians and the singers? Who produced this gem? What was the purpose of the record, especially considering the high talent level and the fact that it seemingly had never had a commercial release? No less an expert than the late Patrick Lundborg, one of the world’s leading experts on psychedelic culture and music and author of “The Acid Archives”, the ultimate guide to underground sounds from the 1960’s and 1970’s, called The Constant Sound demo disc "one of the Holy Grails of 1960’s sunshine pop and lyte psych," comparable to the the California sunshine style on the very rare Birmingham Sunday record, and added: "this is bound to blow the mind of any genre fan, as it delivers on all the key areas and has no obvious weaknesses." CONTENTS ARE - Live Davenport, Iowa 1968 (Iowa legends of psych gem 1969) -Label:ALONA’S DREAM Previously unreleased live recording featuring unheard originals from 1960’s psychedelic legends The Contents Are! •Intense jams for the psychedelic dancehall circa 1968 from these true legends of midwestern rock ’n roll.•Housed in a heavy-duty classic style tip-on jacket including previously unseen pictures and informative liner notes.•Limited editions (respectively) of 500x LPs and 300x Digipak CDsUntil recently, The Contents Are were one of the great forgotten bands of the late 1960’s midwestern psychedelic scene. After their masterpiece LP “Through You” was recorded the band went through their first evolution, switching out bass players Larry Smith for Mick Orton. While honing their new group by hosting a series of live shows in their native Davenport, IA (they were one of the area’s leading draws by this point), Craig was recording the band’s sets using his Ampex two track tape recorder. This album is the result of those recordings. Drawn from his archive of live recordings, they represent the band not only finding their footing after adding a new member but also recording a series of live demos which were then shopped to various producers in the hopes of landing a recording deal and wound up being the catalyst that brought them to Jerry Milam’s Golden Voice Recording Co in South Pekin, IL. It was there they would record their second major album “Four Each Other” which sat unreleased in the band’s archive until it was released via Golden Voice & Alona’s Dream in 2017, to much acclaim! These are more than just a collection of demos; they represent a band in between the early psychedelic folk classic which is their first album and the expansive acid rock evolution of their second album, with many original songs that were only ever played live. The listener can also hear a band who could keep a dancehall moving, a group as capable of being the evening’s entertainers as well as storytellers and poets in the studio. These recordings were restored, carefully mastered and pressed into 160 gram vinyl. Housed in a heavy-duty classic style tip-on jacket including previously unseen pictures and informative liner notes. A rare nine song document of The Contents Are's expansive live sound. Intense jams for the psychedelic dancehall circa 1968 from these true legends of midwestern rock ’n roll. LP $25 SKU:23388

Sounding like a blend of Pet Sounds and Odessey & Oracle but with a charming, homemade, lo-fi vibe, The Love Cycle was a concept album masterminded by talented songwriter / arranger John M. REAL EYES-ST + A4 size, leatherette, soft cover 90-page book with drawings and lyricsLabel:WIZARD Rare local US private pressing from 1981. Described thus by one writer: "Dreamy all over, with progressive folk elements; flat out psychedelic rock in some tracks. Interesting and thoughtful songwriting. A great discovery!!!”; described elsewhere as "sounds running the gamut from soft folk, to psych heavy metal,” and also as "tasty and creative stuff throughout,” by a third scribe…. and this way in Acid Archives:"One of the best 1980s discoveries, this is pretty wild stuff, has a crude garage edge, especially when it gets heavy. The songwriting is pretty interesting and thoughtful, and as private press LPs go, this is distinctive and memorable enough to explain why psych dealers jumped on its bandwagon. A lot of the lyrics are pretty stoned. There is a lot going on here, with enough weird hooks and surprising moments to give any listener a fair amount of kicks. I like side two, especially the closing 'Visions of Obscurity V,' better than side one. In the long run, whether this will be a keeper for any individual listener will probably be determined by the insane 12-minute 'Madman’s Game,' an elaborate epic that encapsulates everything distinctive about this record.” —Acid Archives LP $45 SKU:24383
