CATHERINE’S HORSE- Garage Blues from Connecticut (rare 1969 5 star POKORA FAVE!) - Label:BREAK- A-WAY RECORDS (Germany) Due to a long time growing interest into local 60s rock, most band stories, even of those who did put out rare and local records, have since been written. Not so with Connecticut band Catherine´s Horse. Their sole album dates from 1969 and was released only in an inner sleeve and no cover. Due to its rarity it is still a largely unknown release among today's record collectors and honoured with five stars in Hans Pokora’s “1001 Record Collectors Dream Book”. But those who happen to be familiar with it, appreciate it for the fresh sound of the music and the clear production. That and the fact, that it’s an amazing white blues rock album with a strong garage attitude provided by five high school students who never played professionally. The tracks are nearly all cover versions of classic, often moody blues tracks reminiscent of early Paul Butterfield Blues Band or Blues Project. The LP incl. long time standards such as “Good Morning Little School Girl”, “Think Twice”, “One More Mile” or “Can’t Keep From Cryin” mixed with covers of Jimmy Brenstons’ “Rocket 88” or Jagger / Richards “Good Times, Bad Times”. The only group original ''Sun Going Down'' hints at the talent and potential the band had and rounds off the groups effortless white electric bluesrock expertise. As the vinyl release from 15 month ago, this CD release comes with the originally intended coloured cover-art. The detailed booklet has the band’s history as related by original members Roger Goodspeed, Jay Geary and Putnam Smith, alongside rare photos and memorabilia. A 100% legit release and a must for late 60s rock collectors.500 copies only! CD $12 SKU:13721

COLLINS , PAUL -NERVES) LONG TIME GONE/TO BEAT OR NOT TO BEAT-CDLabel:LOLLIPOP Paul Collins' (from The Nerves, The Breakaways) two long lost EPs with his band The Beat from the early '80s make it to Lolipop Records as the first re-issue on all formats in over 30 years, from the "king of power pop" himself. To Beat Or Not To Beat was recorded in New York in 1983 at The Ranch with John Mathias (The Romantics) and Paul Collins/Steven Huff producing. It was released in the U.S. by Jem/Passport Records and then it was later released in Europe on Closer Records France and Dro Records Spain. The single "All Over The World" was featured regularly on KROQ in Los Angeles and got a lot of airplay in France and in Spain. Steve and Paul toured in Europe off that record for several years until they wound up in London where they recorded their follow-up EP Long Time Gone, just before returning to the States. Long Time Gone was released in 1985 on Closer France and Dro Spain, and both records were released as a two-fer on Wounded Bird Records in 2004. Paul recalls those days fondly, "I remember getting an $800 royalty check for 'All Over The World' when I was living in San Francisco so I went out and bought a used green Datsun B210! I would always hum 'All Over The World' as I drove up and down all those hills in SF!" CD $12 SKU:18781

COOLEY MUNSON- In Debt (70s So Cal. hippie psych ) -Label:GUERSSEN RECORDS Bill Cooley and Alan Munson were two friends in Santa Barbara, California, living their early 20s writing folk-rock songs for their pleasure. That was 1972, and they decided to put these songs into the studio, self-produce the album and press a tiny quantity of 500 pieces hoping it could help getting a contract with a major company. This never happened, as you would have guessed, and sure this fact helped making their sole album, In Debt, a major collectable item in the folk-rock and psychedelic rock listeners and collectors. Today, original copies of this record fetch quite interesting sums when changing hands in record fairs or internet auctions. Being a private pressing, you can easily imagine it's not a big production, but no care. This album has the right feel and you won't need anything else to make it one of your faves. All tracks are original compositions, and the style is very personal. It's folk-rock, but many tracks are quite psychedelic too, in their own way. But don't look close for influences, they will not come to mind that easily. Bill and Alan had their own psychedelic folk-rock style, and the raw, sometimes amateurish feel that these recordings have give the album the final distinctive touch. Never reissued before in any format, now here we come with a splendid reissue, with the collaboration of the guys. Remastered sound taken from the master tapes, CD version comes with booklet and outer slimcase. Alan Munson kept going the folk-rock way and released two solo albums during the '70s too, which we are also re-releasing along with In Debt. CD $10 SKU:7814

DEADPEACH- PSYCLE (STONER ROCK 60S/ 70S STYLE) -Label:NASONI Seven tracks wild and amazing fuzz rock, psychedelic landscapes from the early 60ies/70ies, space trippy sounds and garage punk attitude. Liquid and full guitars rich of bass run into the sidereal space in a vortex of drugged rock! A mix of 60s/70s hard garage (Blue Cheer, The Stooges, Jimi Hendrix Experience, MC5), 80s indie psych (Mudhoney, Spacemen 3, Loop) and current heavy psych sounds (The Heads, Colour Haze, Dead Meadow). Amazing artwork by art lab Malleus. CD $12 SKU:18863

DOMNICKS - Super Real (Stems DM3 Someloves)Label:CITADEL digipack Their debut album Super Real marks a coming of age for The DomNicks. Forged by Perth based Dom Mariani and Nick Sheppard, the band is a powerful blend of swagger 'n' roll rock, soul and pop smarts. Mariani is best known as the driving force behind The Stems, DM3 and The Someloves, while Sheppard's pedigree boasts 80's Bristol punks The Cortinas and thereafter as Mick Jones' replacement in the 1983-86 line-up of The Clash. In 2007 the pair teamed up with Howard Shawcross (The Elks, The Riptides) on bass and Marz Frisina on drums, quickly developing into a very 'hang loose' combo. Playing a mix of Dom and Nick's originals with a spread of 60's and 70's garage and soul classics, they are a band of seasoned players punching well above their collective musical weight. Super Real continues in the tradition of The DomNicks' previous recording, Hey Rock 'n' Roller (Off The Hip 2009). Expanding on Hey Rock 'n' Roller's gutsy guitar driven sound, Super Real takes a ride through blues, soul, funk, and classic guitar pop influences to create one seamless musical journey fuelled by the vim and vigour of a noble era. Among the 12 tracks you'll find the Exile era Stones' sound of Reconcile, the brazen brass and swing of Let's Go Baby, soul flavours in I Wonder What You're Doin' Now, the straight ahead rollicking of Miracle and tantalising twists and turns of the electric sitar driven Winter. It's bound to cause the head and heart to shake. CD $15 SKU:14597

DUNGEN- TIO BITAR ( Swedish psych ) Label: SUBLIMINAL SOUNDS Over the past two years, the profile of Swedish psychedelic rockers Dungen has grown at an alarming rate, from a cult studio project into a worldwide musical phenomenon. And on Tio Bitar, we're hearing the end results of an outpouring of success and support - one which has, for once, inspired the creative processes at hand to make something wholly new and original, yet remaining within the same sphere of emotions that fostered Dungen's three previous albums. Gustav Ejstes, Dungen's founder and principal member, made Tio Bitar (translated, "Ten Pieces") - a bracing display of psychedelic rock, presented with a bright, avid confidence largely by himself, with the assistance of guitarist Reine Fiske. Gustav wrote the songs, and played all of the instruments on his own, with Reine on many lead guitar and bass parts; his style of play puts him well within the top ranks of modern guitar heroes past and present. First pressing is a limited edition in a silver foil slipcase of 8,000 copies CD $10 SKU:6027

FLIPPERS- PRONTO VIVEREMOS UN MUNDO MUCHO.(Columbian 60s/70s Psych)-Label:GUERSSEN One of Colombia's better known 60s & 70s groups is Los Flippers. But few people outside Colombia knows about this wonderful 1973 album they did. Its probably because it was self-released by their leader Arturo Astudillos own label rather than the bigger labels they used before, hence low sales. But in any case, its no doubt a great album that must be heard. The music on this album is quite special, as it blends psychedelia with progressive sound and soul as well. With a very good production, here we find Los Flippers at their peak of inspiration and being now a bunch of very experimented musicians. The result is much more mature than any of their previous works of course, and they really achieved a sound that ranges with any supergroup. With all original compositions except a Buddy Miles cover, they used a good dose of psychedelic effects and some tasty horns as well. As an addition, this first ever reissue comes with a killer bonus track from an earlier 45, with a killer sound reminiscent of Iron Butterfly. Remastered sound from tapes (except the bonus track), and insert with liners by Arturo Astudillo. CD $10 SKU:10036

GOLDEN RING- ST -Iranian Styled 60's Garage & Other Exotic Sounds: Complete Recordings-Label:PERSIANNA As collectors continue to explore and discover new music from around the world, one country that's starting to gain momentum is Iran. Iran has been a mystery to collectors for many years, and even today it remains a blackbox to most. Within the rubbles of Iran's lost musical history comes Golden Ring, one of the first, and most prodominent Iranian garage groups from the '60s. Based in Teheran, Golden Ring recorded and released a series of songs on 7" during the late 60's and early 70's before disbanding. They were one of the first Iranian bands to be influenced by Western music such as The Beatles, combining traditional Iranian instrumentation and melodies with structures found in UK and North American rock and pop. This combination resulted in an Iranian take on garage music during the genre's climax. One of the members of Golden Ring, Arif, later went on to become a solo artist, and over time became one of the legendary artists within Irans musical landscape. His solo material spread across 45's, soundtracks and generations of fans. Sadly Golden Ring never recorded or released a full length album, but through a lot of hard work and effort we are pleased to offer a full length compilation of Golden Ring's music for you to enjoy. MAYFIELD'S MULE - ST (60s Brit pop psych )Label:NIGHTWINGS Guitarist, vocalist and songwriter CHRIS MAYFIELD began to play at the beginning of the Sixties in local Kent band The MORAL SET, then went on to the usual plethora of bands and sessions, playing with the earliest NIRVANA, JOHN GUSTAFSON, GENE LATTER and IAN HUNTER among the others. In 1968 after a few disappointing musical adventures, Chris joined AMEN CORNER as a roadie/driver, but his girlfriend passed some of his demos to Amen's sax player, MIKE SMITH, who immediately got them to various labels, EMI approved and immediately signed Chris to a recording deal. PETE SAUNDERS (k), STEVE BRADLEY (b) and ex-ELASTIC BAND SEAN JENKINS (d) soon joined and MAYFIELD's MULE was born. Three Parlophone singles were recorded in a few months and the band also began to work on an album at Abbey Road studios. But something went wrong and the LP was apparently shelved, gaining instead an incredible Uruguayan release on local Emi-Odeon label, without any involvement and knowledge from the band. Mayfield's Mule went on for a while longer, recruiting brothers MIKE and ANDY SCOTT, and then called it a day. While Sean Jenkins played a few months with HENRY COW and Andy Scott resurfaced in The SWEET, Chris Mayfield joined forces with JOHN KONGOS to record some demos of his new material. He then met up with an old friend from Kent NOEL REDDING (late of Jimi Hendrix Band and Fat Mattress) and they formed the shortlived BRAIN POLICE, which became (without Chris) ROAD and finally The NOEL REDDING BAND. This CD contains all the best Mayfield's Mule recordings, drawing from both the singles and the album. The music is basically rock but with hints of prog, blues, rural and even a bit of soul thrown in. All tracks have been digitally remastered from the original tapes, licensed by EMI UK. The 12 pages booklet features the band's detailed story, with never-seen-before photos and Mayfield's own anecdotes. CD $10 SKU:9498

CD $5 SKU:18777

NURT - COMPLETE RADIO SESSIONS 1972/1974 (first Polish heavy rock band )Label:KAMELEON urt was a band from Poland playing some sort of jazzy prog, though very eclectic in the sense that they seemed to play whatever came to them. That can be a good thing but could also spell confusion and bewilderment. But! I do feel that they get away with it. It is an interesting piece of history, this compilation. It showcases the diversity of Eastern bloc progressive. I like it because of the rawness but also the vision of music as something more than genres and cohesiveness. Interesting but not for everyone. I would rate it three stars but some of the music is worth more. Still, I wo uld never part from it. It attracts me in a primitive, earthy way. CD $14 SKU:19156

Hit the go-go cage for some tittyshakers to whip, whop, wobble and grind to. COMP LP $17 SKU:19094

COLLINS , PAUL -NERVES) LONG TIME GONE/TO BEAT OR NOT TO BEATLabel:LOLLIPOP Paul Collins' (from The Nerves, The Breakaways) two long lost EPs with his band The Beat from the early '80s make it to Lolipop Records as the first re-issue on all formats in over 30 years, from the "king of power pop" himself. I would always hum 'All Over The World' as I drove up and down all those hills in SF!" LP $15 SKU:18842

DEAD MOON - TRASH AND BURN (punk w psych edge)Label:MISSISSIPPI One of their harder to find and more perfect records. An absolute monster of a rocker. Killer high energy songs. Once again DEAD MOON deliver a record of all hits with no misses. Pure as can be. The record has a slight psychedelic edge and some definite roots in early rock and roll. The record that started to define the aesthetic that would later inform what Fred and Toody accomplished with Dead Moon. Nuts and bolts great songwriting on songs such as Teenagers, World war 3, Social Indigestion and more. LP $17 SKU:19736

EGYPT -ST (70s style stoner jams)Label:DOOMENTIA Its laid back stoner jams convey the arid desert of the Sahara. Sabbath (duh) dutifully rears its head amongst the influences, but not to the point where youre hearing duplicate riffs exported from the 70s. There's also a more straightforward Hawkwind and classic Deep Purple style to the album, as if Geezer had replaced Lemmy and the whole gang went on a shrooms bender, meeting up with Ritchie Blackmore later on for a couple of pints. Obviously, this is good stuff, and worth seeking out LP $18 SKU:20948

FOLKAL POINT- ST (70s RARITY) Label:MIDAS RECORDINGS/HOXA Lost in fire and flood and remastered from original vinyl, now fetching as much as $1,416, 'Folkal Point' (the official release, and the only one with the bonus track) represents a moment in time, captured for all time. Only 250 of the original available ever, and only 500 of this special edition were made. And now, this self-titled album, from its somewhat obscure origins rises again, through the determination and meticulous work carried out by Hoxa Sound and The Vinyl Factory. That original sense of ambition is now a collective sense of satisfaction. Beware unauthorised remasters! The band can make something if you buy the Hoxa edition, having made nothing out of any others for the last 46 years. The recording of this album did constitute a milestone in the career of Folkal Point, but not one that could ever have been anticipated. And what was achieved in that relatively brief period of the early 1970s has truly lasted a lifetime. 'Folkal Point' is a diverse, yet well balanced, collection of folk music stretching from a dark otherworldly place to a more enlightened modern time. LP $22 SKU:20250
