BERMUDA JAM - ST ( 60s psych w. detailed background liners and rare archival photographs. - Label:STONED CIRCLE (UK) The Bermuda Jam's only known contribution to the 1960s music scene was released by Dynovoice Records in 1969, a self-titled psychedelic mod/soul crossover jamboree that, contrary to its detractors, holds delightfully unexpected highlights. Somewhat cruelly neglected and mistakenly overlooked in the past, The Bermuda Jam and their lone album have been assigned to bargain bins with an unjust lack of foresight. The history of the band offers an interesting glimpse of the local garage punk scene, with connections to The Gents and The Savages, both of whom have enjoyed retrospective cult status on compilations including some in the Pebbles series. Other connections include Sly & the Family Stone, Joe Cocker, and Pink Floyd, but name-dropping aside, this small Bermuda outfit wielded some of their own tasty magic for their one-off album deal in 1969. Infectious Hammond and psychedelic studio trickery with ample fuzz and wah-wah make for a thrilling late psychedelic entry that should not go ignored. This first ever reissue was digitally remastered from the original recording and includes detailed background liners and rare archival photographs. CD $17 SKU:16650

ONE- Come ( 1972 unparalleled hippie euphoria w liners and archival photos )- Label:STONED CIRCLE (UK) The bare principles of unparalleled hippie euphoria; a climax of communal head-sounds with disturbing Indian vibes in a deranged marriage of ambient absurdity and financial hallucinations. Spearheaded by Reality D. Blipcrotch, this San Francisco bunch of longhairs and friends of Jefferson Airplane realized their potent raga potential in 1972 with the extraordinary debut album Come. Exploding B-sides, whistling teapots, and pop-up marijuana leaves only form half the story... welcome to the world of 1. DON'T THINK I’VE FORGOTTEN - VA : Cambodia's Lost Rock and Roll 70s -Label:DUST-TO-DIGITAL On April 17, 1975, Phnom Penh fell to the Khmer Rouge and Cambodian rock and roll was no more. Its star musicians were targeted and killed, record collections were destroyed, clubs were closed, and Western-style music-making, dancing, and clothes were outlawed. The deaths of approximately two million Cambodians and the horrors of the Killing Fields have been well-documented; add to this John Pirozzi's fascinating tale of Cambodia's vibrant pop music scene, beginning in the 1950s and '60s, influenced by France's Johnny Hallyday and Britain's Cliff Richard and the Shadows. The filmmaker has assembled rare archival footage, punctuating it with telling interviews with the few surviving musicians. Cambodian culture has long been synonymous with a love for the arts. Pirozzi's 2014 film Don't Think I've Forgotten pays homage to the country's rock legends who paid for their creativity with their lives. Through the eyes, words, and songs of its popular music stars of the '50s, '60s, and '70s, Don't Think I've Forgotten: Cambodia's Lost Rock and Roll examines and unravels Cambodia's recent tragic past. This soundtrack to Pirozzi's important film, compiled by the director, is very cinematic in nature. The sequencing and newly-remastered audio transport the listener through the rock and roll history of Cambodia in a similar fashion as Pirozzi's documentary film. It is both entertaining and essential to hear so many tracks that are available outside of Cambodia for the very first time. Includes tracks by The Royal University of Fine Arts, Sinn Sisamouth, Chhoun Malay, Huoy Meas, Baksey Cham Krong, Ros Serey Sothea, Pen Ran, Sieng Vannthy, Va Sovy, Drakkar, Pou Vannary, Yol Aularong, and Cheam Chansovannary. FIRST CHIPS- VA ( 60s fuzz psych w liners and photos ) -Label:STONED CIRCLE (UK) At a time when musical shifts were almost a daily routine in the immediate aftermath of the 1960s, multi-instrumentalist Vyto Beleska decided to trawl through the archives of his own Clay Pigeon studios, based in Chicago's South Side. Assembled here are past recording projects that utilized some of Chicago's finest underground musicians, whose collaborations with Beleska reveal another chapter in the annals of psychedelia and garage. To mark the early work of Beleska and Clay Pigeon Studios, a privately pressed album was issued in 1972 in a quantity of 500 copies. Circulated locally, the Clay Pigeon recordings were sadly never acknowledged on a national or worldwide level. The time has come to give wider recognition to the inspiring and awesome sounds that came from these musicians. This is the first legitimate reissue of this retrospective look at one of Chicago's finest unsung musical innovators whose early recorded legacy boasts more fuzz, feedback, and psychedelic mayhem than any true '60s rock fan could desire. Digitally remastered from the original recording; includes detailed background liners and rare archival photographs. COMP CD $17 SKU:16651

ALLIN, GG - Hated in the Nation 2015 repress -Label:ROIR 2015 repress. "The starting point for any GG Allin fan! Features guest appearances from Dinosaur Jr.'s J. CRYSTAL SYPHON - Family Evil ( ltd ed lost West Coast 60s psych with download ) REPRESSED - Label:ROARATORIO Repressed. "Crystal Syphon, one of the greatest 'lost' groups of the West Coast psych scene, came together in Merced, California in 1965. Originally a Beatles / Byrds-influenced unit called the Morlochs, they soon shed their original moniker and moved in a more psychedelic direction, becoming a fixture on the ballroom circuit from 1966-1970. Although their music may nod in the direction of the New Tweedy Brothers and Quicksilver Messenger Service at times, it's imbued throughout with a distinctive sound that arose from practicing up to six nights a week. The band entertained offers from various labels during their existence, but as they insisted on complete artistic control and ownership of their music, no deals were struck. Now, some 44 years after its creation, Roaratorio is proud to make the music of Crystal Syphon available for the first time ever. Drawn from studio tracks, rehearsal tapes and a live recording from the Fillmore West, Family Evil is released with cover art by Norman Orr and extensive historical liner notes on an old-style 'tip-on' jacket. Digital download included." LP $24 SKU:16653

CZAR- ST PLUS CD w booklet and bonus tracks ( 70s psych guitar rock )-Label:SUNBEAM Originally released in 1970, Czar is firmly established as one of the most sought-after progressive rock albums ever released in the UK. An intense brew of Hammond organ, Mellotron, and scorching psychedelic guitar, it's certain to appeal to fans of King Crimson, Atomic Rooster, The Nice, and Led Zeppelin. Presented here complete with eight bonus tracks and a full-color booklet (incorporating rare photographs and comprehensive sleeve-notes), this definitive reissue is simply essential for all lovers of heavy progressive psychedelia. 180-gram LP with 15-track CD and booklet. LP $28 SKU:16610

LEOPOLD, PERRY-Christian Lucifer ( 70s hippie psych) -Label:PSI (PSYCHEDELIC SOUNDS INTERNATIONAL) (GERMANY) Reissue of Perry Leopold's second album and magnum opus, Christian Lucifer, created between 1971 and 1973 following his 1970 acid folk debut, Experiment In Metaphysics his enchanting album is some kind of mystery and miracle -- a mystery because its master tapes, except for some mixdown copies, were erased for reuse soon after the recordings had been finished, because the studio went bankrupt and the material was sold. Perry Leopold was an ambitious musician from the Philadelphia area who played in rock bands in the '60s and released his solo debut, the acid folk masterpiece Experiment In Metaphysics (GUESS 096LP), in 1970. From 1971 to 1973 Perry worked on his magnum opus, Christian Lucifer, an even more sophisticated and melodic album than his debut, still drenched colors that humans should not see and executed with a sense of progressiveness that was mainly associated with the European rock scene of the time. Perry Leopold created the album almost entirely alone, with melodies of an unearthly, mythical beauty that he connected with cantilevered instrumental passages of acoustic guitars, cellos, bells, strings, flutes, and a few analog keyboards and organs layered upon each other in harmonic structures of utter complexity. The whole piece of sound art, despite the overall accessible approach, bears a deeply spiritual atmosphere and sets your soul in a quiet and peaceful mood. Highly recommended for fans of progressive and symphonic folk and singer-songwriter artists of the ancient days like The Incredible String Band, Dulcimer, and Nick Drake, but also of later psychedelic folksters like In Gowan Ring or Birch Book. PROMISE- ST ( 80s Beatlesque power pop ala Badfinger, Big Star, early Cheap Trick, Emitt Rhodes, The Raspberries, Liverpool Echo, The Scruffs, Shoes, Dwight Twilley Band, etc. ) w liners -Label:GOT KINDA LOST RECORDS (SPAIN) First reissue of the privately pressed 1980 self-titled debut by Colorado power pop band Promise. "An exciting, terrific British Invasion-styled guitar pop album full of catchy, memorable hooks, displaying a tougher, 'rock' edge than most of its ilk and some excellent softer songs. Equally recommended to power pop and '60s rock fans." --Aaron Milenski, The Acid Archives If you're continuously searching the margins for lost artifacts of the pop pantheon, you can find your daily dose in late period exponents of pure, lean, Beatlesque power pop band Promise. Originally issued in 1980 on the Boulder, Colorado, area band's own Cumulus label, their eponymous debut is filled with melodic, beatific blasts of pure pop, replete with ringing, jangly guitars and rollicking crunch. Co-led by singer-songwriters and guitarists Curt Mangan and Danny Mey -- with aid provided by the just-right rhythms of bassist Randy Jones and drummer Gary York -- the group created an album with precious little allying it to the punk-inspired power pop or prescient new wave of the time, instead choosing to hone in on a classicist pop sound highly indebted to those famous moptops from Liverpool. Abetted by the fact that some of the group's members had been playing together since their teenage combos of the mid '60s, the album carries an out-of-time flair across surging rockers and mournful balladry. Got Kinda Lost Records is ecstatic to give this benchmark of privately pressed power pop another chance to shine with this first ever reissue. Includes exhaustive liner notes by Jeremy Cargill (Ugly Things Magazine) culled from interviews with Mangan and Mey. RIYL: Badfinger, Big Star, early Cheap Trick, Emitt Rhodes, The Raspberries, Liverpool Echo, The Scruffs, Shoes, Dwight Twilley Band, etc. CD $18 SKU:16561

SEARCHING IN THE WILDERNESS - VA ( raw, rare mid-'60s rock, UK ) -Label:MUZIEK EXPRESS While this compilation might prove mighty hard to track down, it's one of the better anthologies of raw, rare mid-'60s rock, concentrating exclusively on bands from the U.K. and Europe (i.e., this is not a "garage" compilation in the classic sense). Some of these groups enjoy a cult reputation, especially the Dutch ones (the Outsiders, Q65, Cuby & the Blizzards, the Motions); most will draw blanks even on the faces of specialist record store owners. Still, if you like the R&B/mod of the Pretty Things or the Who and are looking for stuff in that mode that's less polished, this is a good place to land. The Red Squares' "You Can Be My Baby" is as good as the best London 1966 mod; the Buzz's "You're Holding Me Down" is one of British producer Joe Meek's hardest-rocking sessions; Jimmy Page plays a raunchy session guitar lead on Sean Buckley's "Everybody Knows"; and the Outsiders' "Won't You Listen" is one of the wildest, most unhinged beat/punk performances of all time. There's also a rare and basic unreleased mid-'60s song by the Kinks (who are identified as the "Muswell Ravens" on the cover), "All Aboard." “Richie UnterbergeR COMP CD $12 SKU:332

HIPSVILLE - VOl 2 (60s garage ) - Label:NORTON The second volume in Kramden Records' (an early forerunner of Norton) Hipsville series scores big rockin' points with this collection of what they refer to on the front cover as "16 more delicious mystery appetizers." Split evenly between a "Friday Night side" (party tunes) and a "Saturday Night side" ("no money, no honey, no nothin'"), this musically follows in the footsteps of the debut entry. On the Friday night side, the highlights are plentiful, but heading the list are the Caravans' "3 Musketeers" (that's right, an ode to a candy bar), the Cardinals' "Hatchet Face," Florian Monday & His Mondos' "Rip It Up," "Go Go Ferarri" by the (no relation to the band of the same name that did "Time Won't Let Me") Outsiders. On the Saturday night loser side (also check entry for Shutdown '66 for more prime mid-'60s self-pitying material), the Fearsome Five's "It's Alright," the Revelles' "You Don't Love Me No More" (complete with a jaw-droppingly lame harmonica solo), and the Hermon Knights' "You're Not Mine" are raw genius, loaded to the gills with '60s teenage angst galore. If '60s garage band records chock full of sizzling fuzz guitars, trebly Farfisa combo organs, simple but noisy drumming, and hyperkinetic tambourines to go with the alternately wimpy and sneering lead vocals is your thing, you can't do without this one for the collection. ~ Cub Koda COMP LP $14 SKU:11716
