TURNS - Doorman (timeless essence of West Coast psych)Label:HYPNOTIC BRIDGE “Doorman” b/w “Just Like You” Doorman” is the opening salvo in a new direction in The Turns’ sound, with soulful vocals and a slow, powerful build that soars with the psychedelic splendor of bands like The Buffalo Springfield, The Jefferson Airplane and Love. The timeless essence of West Coast psychedelia is encapsulated in the lovely groove of “Just Like You,” which blossoms in the mind like memories of sunny summer afternoons spent lazing on paisley picnic blankets. 45 RPM $10 SKU:21477

AMAZING - WAit for a Light ( psych pop perfection) - Label:SUBLIMINAL SOUNDS (SWEDEN) Gatefold digipack. Brand new recordings of Swedish Folk-Rock-Psych-Pop perfection. The Amazing fell far from the tree. A natural process: coming together through affection, then slowly crystallising into a folk-rock-psych-pop- collective slowly pushing, bending then playing with any preconceived notions of pop. Friends first and foremost, its this kindred spirit that imbues the bands debut with a feeling unlike that of most releases - one of natural harmony, persistent progression and with a panoramic gaze fixed on distant settings. Their 2009 debut album has received unanimous critical acclaim worldwide. This is their follow up a new mini-album with an all-encompassing sonic soundscape of groovy electric folk rock, psychedelic pop and heavy jams. The core musicians in The Amazing are Christoffer Gunrup, Reine Fiske, who doubles as the lead guitar wizard in Dungen and whos solos so furiously its as if somethings trapped inside him that must be turned into melody or hell burst into flames, Johan Holmegard (who doubles as the drummer in Dungen too) and Fredrik Swahn. With special guests including some of Swedens finest musicians; Gustav Ejstes (Dungen) and Moussa Fadera (Life on Earth!) amongst others, nothing on Wait for a light to come is introverted or overworked - everything is balanced, kept together by natural melodies, soulful vocals and just how perfect should be. The Amazing is a feeling, an organic consequence of something that effortlessly came together, the start of a quite extraordinary tale. CD $10 SKU:20914

ASTRAL SON - Mind’s Eye (Cosmic Dutch neo-psych ) Label:SULATRON The third album by Dutch neo-psych solo-artist Astral Son once again is full of cosmic soundscapes, progressing into psychedelic tracks with plenty of far-out elements. 'Minds Eye' basically sounds like a logical continuation of Astral Son's previous album 'Silver Moon' and is arguably (even) better! If you enjoyed this space cadet's first two excursions, you'll definitely love 'Mind's Eye CD $14 SKU:21564

BAMBOO KIDS -ST (Clash/Heartbreakers style NYC power trio) Label:GET HIP U.S. DEBUT BY NYC POWER TRIO! CD $10 SKU:21923

BLACK KEYS- Thickfreakness (raw, heavy garage blues) Digipack Label:FAT POSSUM The band's debut album The Big Come Up had been tremendously successful for an independent rock band and Thickfreakness further increased their profile. It continues The Black Keys' tradition of raw, heavy blues-influenced garage rock. CD $15 SKU:15734

BLACKOUT - ST (groovy 60s garage)-Label:WORLD PSYCHEDELIA (Korea) At last a reissue of a great album that features some of the cheesiest organ sounds (meant in a good way) carved into wax in the 1960’s; groovy and bizarre Hammond runs are present and accounted for, residing happily with the smart songs, the fine guitar playing, and the gravelly vocals of the band’s singers (male and female), on the only album this Polish band ever saw released, just before they changed their name (to Breakout), and their sound (to progressive rock); they started as a beat band, albeit one addicted to the dark side of beat as demonstrated to them in person by Eric Burdon & the Animals; they developed their own weird sound, which was dubbed “Big Beat” by someone clever—a term that still exists in the former Eastern Bloc to describe this sort of offbeat (so to speak), wigged-out and intense home grown music; after some radio success, Blackout apparently recorded a slew of singles, some of which appear here as bonus tracks; twenty songs in all, mostly written by underground novelist and poet Bogdan Loebl, plus liner notes that include an interview with band-leader Tadeusz Nalepa as well as an overview of the recording industry in Poland in the 1960’s. It’s not every day you get historical background and interesting music in the same package! CD $12 SKU:18953

BOSSMEN - Personally Yours: The Complete Anthology w liners, rare photos, booklet. -Label:LION Liner notes by Dick Wagner + reflections on the Bossmen by Bo White and Ryan Sparks ,Massive color booklet with rare photos, Limited to 500 copies. Dick Wagner and his guitar. The Frost. Ursa Major. Lou Reed's "Rock 'n' Roll Animal". Alice Cooper's "Welcome to My Nightmare". Kiss. Aerosmith. Peter Gabriel. Wagner's contribution to rock 'n' roll is immense. And it all started a little bit north of Detroit with the Bossmen. In just three years (1964-67), The Bossmen amassed an impressive run of no less than eight regional number one singles. When you listen to these eighteen original compositions you can sense the long hours and the countless amount of blood, sweat and tears that went into creating them. Whether it's a stinging guitar solo (the sonic blast of an intro on 'Sunshine' comes to mind), a regal four part vocal harmony or a soaring arrangement, each tune bears the distinct early characteristics of the ‘Wagner’ sound that would later bring him success on a global scale and write him into the annals of rock ‘n' roll history. "I look back on the days of The Bossmen with a sort of reverence. These were my first days of recording my own original songs, entering the concert scene and learning the basic trials of making it in the music business. I get chills even today just thinking back on the two or three block line that formed every time we played our home town venue, Daniel’s Den. The Bossmen were the heroes and purveyors of the primal Rock energy for that angelic group of screaming youth. MAN… those were the days!" —Your Boss man, Dick Wagner • Liner notes by Dick Wagner + reflections on the Bossmen by Bo White and Ryan Sparks CD $10 SKU:15879

COOPER,JOHN & PHILIPPA,-The Cooperville Times (1969 like early Jefferson Airplane)-Label:FRESH Spooky psychedelic folk rock (1969) featuring the unmistakable guitar sounds of Julian Laxton (Freedom’s Children). Unquestionably one of the rarest South African albums ever: folk tinged psychedelia, featuring the whimsical vocals of John & Philipa Cooper with guitar by Julian Laxton, which has been hailed by collectors worldwide as comparable to the legendary Mellow Candle or early Jefferson Airplane. Brother/sister John & Philipa Cooper went to Britain shortly after the album was made, and there the story ends. Even so, this amazing album is considered in the same class as those by Billy Nichols, Duncan Browne and Blossom Toes. Well composed underground songs, folk rock, effects—an album full of ideas and masterfully played... it just has the right feel, with the combination of great songs and a '60s art-vibe. The perfect underground folk-rock album CD $14 SKU:20401

CYNICS- Here We Are ( 60s style garage ) -Label:GET HIP .. probably the best Cynics record ever, on par with their classic Rock’n’Roll LP.Along with The Fuzztones, The Lyres, and The Chesterfield Kings, The Cynics have always been regarded as garage rock royalty. CD $10 SKU:17137

CYNICS- Learn To Lose ( 60s style garage )- Label:GET HIP This is the moody 1993 followup to the critically acclaimed Rock ‘N’ Roll album. With a batch of new material, the band took it’s time in the studio to take the music to the next level. Includes a cool cover of the Lollipop Shoppe’s “You Must Be A Witch CD $10 SKU:10898

EMMANUELLE PARRENIN- Maison Rose (60s hippie folk) -Label:LION We begin by saying that this is an album unlike any other. A bold statement, perhaps. Yet look in the "Scented Gardens of the Mind" book and you will see this description: "a revelation of a folk album, with songs of incredible beauty and innovative arrangements. It features traditional instruments you’ve hardly ever heard before and touches of the avant-garde. Play this album directly after that of another randomly chosen female folk album, and you will notice the difference! This is one of the best!" Parrenin had been part of a traditional "antique folk" movement in France in the late 1960’s (she was in many ways a French equivalent to Sandy Denny or Mandy Morton); indeed, she had recorded eight albums with musicians from this scene before "Maison Rose"—her best, and last album, recorded in 1976 and released the following year. The record seems to alternate between a cosmic take on an ancient Breton sound, and delicate, multi-tracked ballads—ranging from sounds that would not be out of place on an Ash Ra Tempel album to elements of traditional French folk music (including home-made instruments) that are just as exotic. Certainly, the avant-garde edge lurking beneath the simple folkiness of "Maison Rose" puts in mind the explorations of Brigitte Fontaine with her sometime musical voyager Areski; there are also suggestions of the pastoral caranavserai aesthetic of Vashti Bunyan, as well as the multi-track sensuality of Linda Perhacs (to name two much-touted singers who seem to have a similar ability to enchant). But Parrenin has her own style, her music has its own deeply ethereal quality, and the album itself has its own magic spell to cast that renders comparison with other albums unimportant in the end. Magnificent… CD $10 SKU:20095

FREDDY AND THE FOREGONE CONCLUSIONS - WIGGED OUT SOUNDS (Detroit garage punk Question Mark style) Label:GET HIP ARCHIVE In the hallowed halls of Detroit's garage punk legacy, only one man remains committed to the original doctrine layed out by bands like Question Mark and the Mysterians and the Unrelated Segments. That man is Freddy Fortune. Blasting off with Detroit-area chord mashers the Covingtons in 1988, the mid '90s found Fortune in an auspicious pairing with friend and collaborator Michael Maltese. The result, Fortune and Maltese and the Phabulous Pallbearers, would burn a trail of garage punk genius across the U.S. and abroad, spreading the gospel of lo-fi love to rock 'n' roll fans everywhere. Now Fortune returns, once again bearing the torch for of Detroit garage with a new sound and a new ensemble. Freddy and the Four Gone Conclusion have but one purpose ladies and genlemen, to get you off your seat, on your feet and rockin' outta control. Squares beware -- these guys mean business! Well folks 36 years later the mystery is finally laid to rest right here on this platter. Recorded and Produced by Freddy & the boys, and mixed at Detroit's mecca of garage, Ghetto Recorders with ! Jim Diamond. The album is a non stop powerhouse of 60's fueled Michigan Mayhem. CD $10 SKU:22170

HARBINGER - Second Coming - 60s loner folk -Label:GUERSSEN The beyond rare second album released by loner/downer folk legend Dave Bixby, recorded around the same year as his first one, the now famous "Ode to Quetzalcoatl". Musically is equally as good and very similar to the first one but this time the recording took place in a professional studio, so the sound is improvedFeatures carefully remastered sound from a clean vinyl (no master tapes exists) done at Shadoks Music Studios, and an insert with extensive and detailed liner notes by Matvei Procak - the guy who found Bixby in 2006 - plus some rare pictures. JULY- Second of July ( Stunning demos by one of the most important psychedelic bands to ever exist ) -Label:ACME/LION •Digipack with 12-page booklet detailing the history of July and their recordings
•Available again on CD after more than a decade By this time, anyone with an interest in psychedelia that stretches beyond the Beatles or maybe Strawberry Alarm Clock (at a pinch), knows who July is. Well, at least they know that a band called July put out a super rare album that is considered by many to be one of the pinnacles of the psychedelic era. There's no way to overstate the excellence of the album, with its eerie sound, Indian-influenced chord sequences, studio trickery (tape loops/phasing), and heavily reverb-laden vocals. But that’s not the story we’re here to tell. Even before that quintessential psychedelic album was made, band leader Tom Newman was experimenting with home recording equipment. In 1967, he installed basic recording facilities in the bedroom of his flat in an old Victorian house in Ealing. There, he and guitarist Peter Cook tried out ideas, coming up with many of the standout songs from the July album. The demos they recorded display the kind of confidence that Newman feels was lacking in the album proper (yes, the ultra- famous psychedelic classic album!) that they recorded in 1968. Let’s go back to the near-beginning of it all, to a flat in a Victorian house in Ealing, and listen in on demos recorded with DIY alacrity by a studio whiz, tracks which will change the face of psychedelia, eventually, after decades of obscurity. CD $10 SKU:16165

KAISERS - Squarehead Stomp (60s garage BEATLES/ZOMBIES style)Label:GET HIP Reissue of the debut album by Scotland’s #1 Beat band...The Kaisers! LAS ANTORCHAS- ST ( 60s Mexican acid punk w liner notes, and a poster insert ) Paper mini slv replica SAALE!- Label:ORFEON Las Antorchas were formed in 1965 by five college students in Mexico City. They released only one EP on Orfeon, but had recorded enough material for an album. They split around 1968/69, but after a line-up change they continued under the name of Antorcha. Thanks to the persistence of VAM Records and record producer Manuel Alvarez Valdez, we now have all known material of Las Antorchas, including their Orfeon material. Their early sounds are rock/beat influenced, with most relying on organ and vocals. But the excellent ‘Dime’ is a really great acid-punk track. Truly underground Mexican rock, waiting to be discovered. This edition has liner notes, and a poster insert that replicates the Orfeon EP art. The CD features 18 tracks in all – their famous EP, plus a host of great singles – with titles that include "Opus 14 Interior 12", "Dime", "Shake", "Confesion", "El Soldado", "Sabia", "No Lo Hagas", "Canta Conmigo", and "Substitute". CD $10 SKU:15118

MYSTIC EYES-OUR TIME TO LEAVE! (primal ‘60s garage rock sound.)Label:GET HIP 4 bonus tracks. If ever there was a band that could do justice to a ‘60s folk-rock chestnuts like “Clam Me Down,” it’s the Mystic Eyes. And on this LP, they prove it yet again. “Clam Me Down” is not only faithful to the original in form and delivery, but also recreates the feel of the primal ‘60s garage rock sound. But as good as their take on the Human Expression hit is, it doesn’t compare to the absolutely breathtaking originals that they churn out on this LP. 14 songs in all including a couple choice covers. CD $10 SKU:21822

NEATBEATS - FAr and Near (Beatles/Hollies early ‘60s beat sound)Label:GET HIP AWESOME 60’S STYLE GARAGE-POP FROM TOKYO. Here, the Neatbeats have cleverly combined great ‘60s covers along with several originals in the style of early Beatles, Searchers and Hollies. If you’re a fan of the early ‘60s beat sound, you’ll love the Neatbeats! CD $10 SKU:21821

NERVEBREAKERS - We Want Everything ( 70s Texas punk) - Label:GET HIP Hailing from Dallas, the Nervebreakers first got together in 1973, but didn’t take off until the mid-’70s punk movement started to affect most larger urban areas of the US. Nervebreakers quickly rose to the top of the pack in Dallas releasing three singles which are now hard to find. This album was recorded in 1980 and was to have been their debut LP. The reissue on Get Hip has been remastered and is finally out on vinyl again on 180-gram wax! EV originally released a limited edition along with the Get Hip CD in 1995. CD $10 SKU:11536

NERVEBREAKERS - Hijack the Radio(Anthology of mid to late 70s studio recordings) Label:GET HIP An anthology of mid to late 70s studio recordings, some of which ended up on the Nervebreakers' late-70's 7" vinyl releases on Wild Child Records, some on the 1979 Texas punk LP compilation Are We Too Late For The Trend? (ESR Records), some on a volume of Italian label Rave Up Records series of American Lost Punk Rock Nuggets, and others that have up-to-now never been publicly released. CD $10 SKU:13995

RAINY DAY SAINTS-REflected(Cleveland psych, garage punk, pure pop ,prog)Label:GET HIP You don’t have to listen to the Rainy Day Saints for long to surmise that their heady amalgam of psychedelia, garage punk, pure pop and prog-rock is the product of astute music fandom.Rainy Day Saints were born out of frustration, heartache, love and power chords. Setting controls for the heart of the sun is multi instrumentalist Dave Swanson. He and his cohorts parade along the rock and roll route oblivious to the fact that the scenery along the way has most definitely changed. In other words, they do what they want, when they want and for no one else but themselves. Why else would they reference Hawkwind, Roxy Music, Crazy Elephant and Johnny Thunders in one fell swoop! Selfish? Perhaps, but that is not their concern. It’s all about the melodies, the harmonies, the loud guitars, the driving bass, the bashing drums and the snarling saxophone. Things like : “pristine electrified paisley underground jangle”,“a nastier version of The Move and the harder side of the Dream Syndicate”, “an elegant almost British classicism of hazy, psychedelicate pop-rock swirls”, “ Cheap Trick meets The Nazz meets early Flaming Lips”, “reminds me of the Monkees”, and our favorite, “ Mr. Swanson is one talented motherfucker” are just a few of things that have been said about Rainy Day Saints. CD $10 SKU:21867

SHOTGUN -Dallasian Rock( Led Zep style 70s hard rock )Label:SHROOMANGEL (USA) A blend of hard hitting riff rock á la early Led Zeppelin and James Gang, with a guitar attack reminiscent of bands like Leafhound or Edgar Broughton Band. Tight, muscular, lean and mean urban blues rock riffage and soaring, soulful vocals, punchy bass and solid drumming make for a memorable set of songs that you won't soon forget. Shotgun had a successful career in and around Dallas, TX between 1974 and 1977, playing the club circuit and recording at the cities best studios. Sadly, nothing ever came of the recording sessions and Shotgun eventually morphed into VIZION, which released an album in 1980 that featured the vocals of Jan Houston. Finally after more than 38 years, Shotgun's long lost studio sessions are presented for the first time ever on LP as they were meant to be heard. The CD versions includes eleven additional bonus tracks. The most amazing thing about these tracks is how they remained on the shelf all these years! •Tight, muscular, lean and mean urban blues rock riffage. •Previously unreleased vintage studio tracks from the 1970's CD $10 SKU:19956

SLOWBONE -THE REAL ROCK & ROLL SWINDLE (early 70s rare prog/blues/pop/psych) SAALE! -Label:AUDIO ARCHIVES Comprehensive 24-track CD covering this London rock band's full history from 1971-'77. The material (with sound from the original tapes) encompasses prog-rock, blues, pop, glam, heavy funk and even some post Turquoise influenced psych, and there's a rare Dutch radio interview from 1975. The detailed history in the booklet was written by Pete Sarfas who saw the band live over fifty times in the early to mid '70s, blowing the lid on the explosive story of how some of Slowbones songs, ideas and even logo were ripped off by the Sex Pistols and Iron Maiden. This issue comes with many rare photos and memorabilia splashed across an eye-catching poster sleeve. CD $12 SKU:21102

THUNDERS, Johnny--Diary of a Gypsy Lover 23 TRAX ALTERNATE STUDIO CUTS,LIVE,RADIO)?Label:SONIC Punk rock guitar hero, earning a cult following for his noisy but epic style a few years before the insouciant new music gained its name. Following in the footsteps of his idol and role model Keith Richards, Johnny Thunders (born John Anthony Genzale, Jr.) lived the ultimate rock & roll life, spending most of his days churning out tough, sloppy three-chord rock & roll and gaining nearly as strong a reputation for his decades-long struggle with addiction as for his music. Thunders made his greatest impact as a member of the New York Dolls, the proto-punk glam rockers of the early '70s. During the late '70s, he was a familiar figure on the New York punk scene, both with his band the Heartbreakers and as a solo artist. Thunders performed and recorded steadily until his death in 1991, turning out a series of records that inadvertently documented the struggles of his life and his art. CD $10 SKU:20428

YOON YOUN SUN--Wing of Peace (S Korean 70s female trippy vocals) Label:WORLD PSYCHEDELIA in some ways, this could be the female counterpart to Lee Jang Hee’s "Meet Me In a Room": first of all, it also features "best production and trip vocal." It’s almost as if these were albums designed one to answer the other, with Yoon Youn Sun’s beautiful, brooding vocals breathing hope where before there was despair; then there are the retro-early 60’s touches that are reminiscent of French ye-ye music of the François Hardy, France Gall type, sultry, yet nurturing a languid innocence; in any case, this album by Yoon Youn Sun was not released in France in the 1960’s, it was released in Korea in 1972 (KLS-64), which makes Yoon Youn Sun a contemporary of Kim Jung Mi, all in all a good reference point; the record has several modes: there are duets with a male singer (all very tasty); the songs that groove the best (tracks five and six) occur when the cheesy farfisa organ gets involved; the second half of the record features more complex arrangements (a few strings find their way into the mix); it’s no surprise that Koreans like Greek music—some of these songs (track three for example) sound as though they could be Neo Kyma tracks from the Popi Asteriadi record previously issued by World Psychedelia, which is, of course, not a bad thing at all; then again, other tracks sound like early Selda material. One world, one music. Full-color discography included. CD $10 SKU:20399

Open Up Your Mind Up Your Mind - The Psych Pop World of Rembrandt Records 1966-1967- Label:CICADELIC RECORDS Open Up Your Mind covers the first two incredible years of Rembrandt Records, a Chicago based label. The first release in March 1966 was a bluesy garage-band novelty record titled "Boots Are Made For Talkin ". It was a parody of Nancy Sinatras, smash hit at the time, "These Boots Are Made For Walking". When the single failed to chart Rembrandt Records owner Reggie Weiss moved in a different direction, merging pop with psychedelic music, for the next single, "Open Up Your Mind". He wrote the song based on a LSD trip and response to the single was positive. Soon other psych-pop singles were issued featuring The Circus, The Nickel Bag, and Mondays Children. Cash Box magazine began plugging Rembrandt Records during the fall of 1966. However, Weiss was unable to secure solid distribution and could not compete with the larger Chicago based record labels such as Dunwich, USA, and Destination. By 1967, Weiss devoted all of his time promoting a high-school band called The Lemon Drops. He wrote another LSD inspired song titled "I Live In The Springtime" for the band. Unfortunately, the single was unable to chart, even regionally. Over the ensuing decades though, the reputation of The Lemon Drops, The Nuchez, The Nite-Owls and other Rembrandt artists has grown immeasurably. This compilation contains all the singles issued on Rembrandt Records from 1966-1967, plus many previously unreleased versions and mixes that are appearing for the first time ever. The twenty-two recordings on this album make it apparent that Rembrandt Records was way ahead of its time when these treasures from the psychedelic 60s were recorded. COMP CD $12 SKU:12121

AURA- Sativa (1974 SF psych funk masterpiece) - Label:LION Official replica vinyl edition of this oft-sampled slab of Bay Area history, a psych funk masterpiece that cannot be denied. Aura formed in 1974 and played extensively throughout Northern California. By 1976, the band recorded their first and only album at Pacific Recording Studio in San Mateo. The original title of the album was meant to be "Sativa", but out of fear that promoting the joys of marijuana would be too controversial, the band omitted the title and just left it as "Aura". Over the ensuing decades, the Aura album has grown in stature to become a major soul/funk collector's item. It features a number of major funk tracks plus funky ballads with female vocals. Standouts include 'Sativa' (replete with water-pipe sound effects and blistering guitar), and the manic fuzz-guitar jam 'Skyrocket.' Old style tip-on jacket and quality limited edition vinyl pressing, mastered from the original tapes. LP $14 SKU:19263

HONEST JOHN - SAILOR (Unreleased underground Texas hard rock from 1975)-Label:SHROOMANGEL (USA) Unreleased underground Texas hard rock from 1975! First release anywhere, anytime! Heavy grooves with dense, layered guitars and Deep Purple/Black Sabbath style vocals from bassist T.J. Sanders. Honest John was a band that meant business at a time when most bands were softening their sound for radio. Not these guys! Honest John did release an extremely rare 7" on the Baron label (BRN45006): slinky track 'Brighter Day' b/w the chunky and hard driving 'Face the Crowd'); but that was all that ever emerged from the sessions until now. It was in fact all the world knew of Honest John, aside from folks blown away by hearing them on tour in Texas playing frat parties, bars, military bases, and sleazy rock clubs in the early 1970's. Honest John's "Sailor" is a living, breathing tribute to Ottis Coleman, who should have long ago been celebrated as a true Texas guitar great. Features Coleman's stellar guitar and engineered by future Mojave Audio honcho and key figure in 1970's rock in Houston, Dusty Wakeman. Coleman and Wakeman both later joined Houston blues rockers Buzz Bone, which featured Dan Mitchell and Tom Moore post-Moving Sidewalks. But it has always been the Honest John sessions that they longed to have released., at long long last. A small press run of 500x copies, housed in a deluxe gatefold tip-on jacket, sourced from original master tapes. A definitive statement of heaviness. •Underground Texas hard rock from 1975 •First release anywhere, anytime! •Sourced from original master tapes •Small press run of 500x copies, housed in a deluxe gatefold tip-on jacket. a link to an mp3 sampler, which has a little taste of every track on the record: LP $24 SKU:19272
