DRILLED CASE Overall, quite a good mix. Furious drum beats, big roaring baselines at times, it definitely has an appeal for the drum and bass aficionados. Plenty of variety and know how from one of the legends in Drum & Bass. A slinky sort of jump-up drum'n'bass mix, Mickey Finn's march through names big and small was a vividly entertaining response to jungle's increasingly bloated personality, tellingly released the same year as Goldie's SaturnzReturn. Though he had a lot to pick from his own Urban Takeover roster, Finn restrained from making it merely an endless label infomercial by choosing a wider variety of names such as DJ Krust, Gang Related, Johnny L., and Phurry Freaks. As a result The Takeover Bid: Round 2 felt full and refreshingly accessible. Standouts were Prisoners of Technology's droll "One-Two" and Aphrodite and Finn's terrifically progressive remix of Moby's "Honey."
